White House Says It Destroyed Hard Drives

Older White House computer hard drives have been destroyed, the White House told a federal court yesterday, and some, but not necessarily all, of the data on those hard drives was moved to new ones.

The White House revealed the information about how it handles its computers in an effort to convince a federal magistrate that it would be fruitless to undertake a plan proposed by the court to recover millions of possibly missing e-mails from 2003 to 2005.

It would be costly and time-consuming for the White House to institute an e-mail retrieval program that entails pulling data off each individual workstation, the White House said in a sworn declaration filed with U.S. Magistrate Judge John Facciola.

If this was the Clinton White House, you would screaming for his resignation, wouldn't you?

Destroying evidence of wrong doing was so common in the Clinton Administration it wasn't even news.

Nobody knows how common it is in this administration, but now we know it's happening.

Well to be clear (to your question) ...It WAS and I DID ! How short is the memory of all Democrats , Bill Clinton erased not only email but all information on all white house computers. Fact is you can't compare this administration and the last when it comes to this subject, well not if you plan on using the truth and facts instead of myth/hype and leftist back spin.
To your zippy little “we don't know...” comment I can say this in 8 years Bill Clinton never volunteered any of the information requested by any of the investigations against him and was caught red handed hiding and destroying requested information...on the other hand this administration has been so forth coming that you are forced to pretend that there must be more information (because you have not found anything you can use ) ...your blowing smoke on this one .

Do you need to be reminded that Sandy Burger, at the direction of Bill, destroyed secret documents he STOLE from the National Archives relating to 9-11, days before the hearings???

And you worry about e-mails??????

The White house is required to hold on to all communications and computer data. Destroying hard drives with anything on them is a crime.

No matter who did it or why, it is wrong.

You neocons have been well trained.

That right zbert! White House records and communications should be held SO THEY CAN BE RELEASED under FIA requests! Nothing but a distraction for the Clintons refusal to release tax records, and other information by the tens of thousands! While Sandy Berger as we speak works for the Clinton campaign from the library!!

zbert and KISSHANK hey maybe you better call your favorite liberal reps and ask them why they don't start an investigation then.... I would LOVE to see that presedence made!! Then America can go back and return that favor! The very LAST thing Democrats want. I'm still waiting for Berger's polygraph test!

Abunai, I never said Clinton was right to do what he did. That is only in your mind.

I would welcome an investigation into ALL Congresspersons and White House staff.
I'm sure it's the last thing any of them would want.

Would you like to put away your neocon position to join me in that request?
Or are you afraid they might find something on your favorite polititian.

The current President Bush is the one who let Clinton off the hook. He called for an end to the investigations when he took office.
The courts were still following through until he stopped them.
Maybe Bush did it hoping Hillary would return the favor?

Speak for your self there KissMyButt! I must have missed the part that said BUSH instead of the White House! The government is very well known for COVER-UPS and destroying records.

1 None - Washington
1 Federalist - Adams
4 Whig – Harrison, Tyler, Taylor, Fillmore
4 Democrat/Republican – Jefferson, Madison, Monroe, JQ Adams
15 Democrat – Jackson, Buren, Polk, Pierce, Buchanan, A. Johnson, Cleveland, Wilson, Truman, Kennedy, LB Johnson, Carter, Clinton
18 Republican – Lincoln, Grant , Hayes, Garfield, Arthur, Harrison, McKinley, Roosevelt, Taft, Harding, Coolidge, Hoover, Eisenhower, Nixon, Ford, Reagan, GHW Bush, GW Bush

Out of all these president's...can you list the ones that the same thing happened with?

Nice History lesson, except you forgot Roosevelt and it's van Buren, not Buren.

The President is responsible for what happens in the White House. In a private corporation he would be responsible, why should it be different in government?

Are you saying it's OK this time because others did it?
Tell that to the Judge if you get a speeding ticket. I'm sure your argument will get you off.

Cherry picking zbert...

Lets also remember that there are STILL 125 people either pleading the 5th, or still overseas avoiding our legal system reguarding the Clintons....

Bush traded calling the dogs off of Clinton for getting the tax cuts done. Clinton made sure everyone on the left went along with it. If you libs REALLY wanted justice you would have not taken that deal.

What we have are libs pumping smoke again, to keep light off of the implosion of the party!

What deal are you talking about? the Republicans controlled the Congress.

I'm not cherry picking, or maybe you don't know what that means.

I'm calling for investigating ALL polititians. You are the one cherrypicking.
You are giving some a pass while going after others.
Sounds a bit hypocritical to me.
I think BOTH parties are dirty and should be cleaned up or eliminated.

I vote for elimination, zbert. We've had the same two tired parties controlling this country for how many years? We need a break.
I honestly believe that honesty and politician are mutually EXclusive terms, don't you?>
They all cover up, they all lie and they're all crooks.
Oh and a couple of em are ummm, what's that word? Oh yeah, wh--ehoppers!! Slick Willy comes to mind right off the bat, any others?

LLRucker... After almost 75 years of Democrat control of government, and a media that has been covering them as long. Change is what you are seeing now! Democrats are loosing the control they once had, and yes both parties are filled with humans, but the difference is when Republicans stumble or fail, they are held accountable. Democrats will do EVERYTHING to hide or cover it, and are the party of hypocracy!

There is a reason we have liberals trying to pass the Fairness Doctrine... the alternative media they hate so much and want silenced rather than debate it!

Liberal leadership is falling one after anohter! New Orleans, to NY Govs replaced by other sexual deviant leaders, New Jersey, Detroit Mayor, the list is getting pretty one sided!

Good use of the talking points, Abunai.

What hat did you pull that info out of? 75 years? Even looking back 20 years proves you're wrong.

Democrats will do EVERYTHING to hide or cover it, and are the party of hypocracy!
Good one to use on this. The White House destroys evidence and then tells the investigators it's too expensive to recover it? And you say the Democrats hide evidence?
One thing that caused Nixon to resign was a blank piece of tape. (BTW, another Republican).
A destroyed hard drive is a lot harder to justify, especially since they are required to preserve them.

The Republican Party came to power under similar circumstances. The existing parties were not doing what the country needed done.
It's time to bring in a new Party with different people and ideas.
That is, unless you want the corruption to continue.

Computers dump, hard drives crash, and suddenly anything in there to the left is "evidence?" That alone is funny!

Time to bring a "new party" with different people and ideas? NOW THAT! is a worn out talking point!

We don't need ideas.. I thought we needed solutions. So lets start teh zbert party then... What are your solutions to what you see as problems then. Give us a specific example maybe...

Just for a second... pretend that you actually have a core set of values from which to work from and hold your postion to. What topic are you willing to bring solutions for and then avail yourself accountable for what it brings or doesnt bring.

No more, Work hard on.... focus on... work close with... find solutions for... begin to recognize...bring people together to figure out...fight for... stand up to....put more effort towards...

Lets just pick one .. Social Security!! is there a single person on the left that has an answer other than all the "fluff" I just listed? Bush has a plan.. and the left STILL blocks it today!

I am a home-based Cruise Agent. I am a long time Libertarian from Babylon, Long Island. Got tired of the lies and dirty tricks of the Demopublicans and Republicrats. I beleive the Constitution was put in place to chain up the Federal Government. The Bill of Rights should be called the Bill of NO Rights. It clearly says what the Federal Government has NO right to do. If you ignore a part of the Constitution without an ammendment, that makes you a traitor, especially if you are an elected official. Anyone elected to the Federal Government takes an oath to Protect and Defend the CONSTITUTION of the United States, not the government, country or people. If you don't defend the Constitution, there is no United States. Read the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence. They were written by very wise people.
