i wrote a post before the season questioning the Jets pick-up of Brett Favre.  I was wondering if Brett Favre might have a negative overall impact on the team instead of being "the answer".

I thought i would revisit it now.

So we have a 1-2 Jets team.  The one win came over the Dolphins, a team that one 1 game last year and accounted for 2 of the Jets 4 wins last year.  Maybe the NFL could schedule the Jets to play Miami 9 times a year.

Brett Favre's wild cowboy style of flinging the ball has had mixed results.  His hail mary in Miami gave them a score that was the difference maker.  Had that ball not been caught the Jets would probably be 0-3.  His style didn't work so well against the Patriots and Chargers.

Speaking of the Patriots, we know how beatable they should have been for the Jets after watching Miami dismantle them.

I know this is a long season and the Jets can still make the playoffs but Buffalo appears to be the new class of the division.  Meanwhile instead of developing a quarterback of the future the Jets are letting a retiree have some fun at their expense.

I agree totally. Soooo Glad Chad Pennington had a great outing against the Patriots. He should still be the QB with the Jets. Yes Brett Favre has been great over the years, but so what. Eric Mangini is the one who should be released!

Who exactly should they be developing?
Clemens?
I think we've seen from the competition he got from Ratliff in pre-season, that he was a poor draft selection(as a 2d rounder), & will never be much more than he is right now.
If they were doing as you say, would they be 2-2 right now? Likely not.
"Jets are letting a retiree have some fun at their expense"......I beg to differ. Favre gives this team the best chance to win a football game each & every week.
The defense needs to improve, the running game needs to improve & Favre needs to develop a better rapport with his receivers, which is taking place.
I want to see improvement each & every week, while winning a fair share of games, on what looks to be a fairly easy schedule. I believe your 1st 3 game window(1-2) is a bit unfair, and clearly should not fall exclusively on Favre's shoulders, as you suggest. Have a bit more patience & let it take shape.
Either way, Favre's successor, who you seem more interested in, most likely isn't even in a Jets uniform now. I think its time to let that go & enjoy the '08 Jets, as they're constructed, good or bad.

Luke, is there something that can be done about a blogger by the name of Scott1? He has really crossed the line with his comments on our blogs, using filthy language and more importantly his lacivious comments about the on-air female talent. It just keeps getting worse and worse. If you'd like to see an example, check out my latest blog, and all of Christina's blogs. He's offending a lot of people. All we did was to try to get him to clean up his act.

4-3....
not pretty; I'll admit it!
NFL's not about style points, though. Jets got the TD when they needed it, even though it should never have been that close. You never know in this league if & when a team reaches its turning point. Could it have been yesterday's close call?
We'll have to stay tuned....HUGE game this week!
Week 9 approaching & we're in a relevant game. It's better than last year!

There aren't many teams that havn't looked pretty ugly at some point this year...even the Giants. Bills looked really bad for an entire 2nd half of a game this week.

He was the old Favre last Sunday. Just when things were looking bad, he saves the day.

Agreed, Luke. That's why you want to stay alive in the season, as long as you can, because you never know when it all comes together.
Last year's Giants team, case in point. When they got destroyed in Week 12 last year by Minnesota @ home, there weren't a lot of people(more likely no people) envisioning Super Bowl at that point. That's why you have to play it out, & keep trying to improve, week after week.

7-3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(with some swag!!)

It shows it doesn't matter where where you are after 2 games(see Giants '07 record after 2 games last year), 3 games, or even 13 games.
It's a 16 game season.
The Jets showed something last night, that goes far beyond a temporary 1st place positioning, after that win. When I have more time latre, I may expand in a post!
Time to focus on the next road game, which I will be attending!

8-3!!
Back from the game in Tennessee!
Jets won that game before the game even started!
A thing of beauty!
This machine is rolling right now!
