I was on another Philly channel's site, and read the story about the man from Texas who killed his own son.  It was a very sad, tragic and disgusting story.  It was accompanied by a slide show, which I looked at.

The pictures were just gut wrenching, horrific...then at the end of these slides, was an add for the "Local Gladiator" show, with a (somewhat) attractive woman dressed in next to nothing!!!

How inapprorpriate is that????

Then, it happened again yesterday, as I looked at a slide show related to the murder of a young mother in front of her kids by their father, and at the end of the show, was that same barely dressed woman!

These are such sad stories, and to end them with such pictures, just is not right.

I wrote to the station (it was not easy to find the correct email form) but I have received no answers.

I like this station so much because they allow us to provide feedback via these blogs, easily and clearly and have not edited what I have said, even if it is negative.

Thanks Fox29 and shame on the other channel for being so insensitive.

I like the whole 'open forum' feel for the blogs. It's great people get to express their views. It's nice for us as a news station, too, because it helps us cover the issues better. How do you know what's important to viewers if you don't communicate with them?

WhyZnot....
I understand your disgust and distain, however, how do feel when you see people standing outside of Hospitols with HUGE posters of an aborted fetus!?!
It's worse!!! We can change the chanel if we don't like a program...these wackos are insensitive to the fact that MY children are HORRIFIED by what they are doing!!!!
THAT IS TRUELY IN POOR TASTE!

I agree, it is awful. My mother lived in Mount Laurel, and my daughter (who was under 10 at the time) would go with me to visit her and on one corner, there would always be a group of people holding up aborted fetus pictures, and screaming about right to life. I respect their opinion and their right to express it, but this was inappropriate.

My daughter was disturbed, as was I, and while stopped at a light one morning, a member of the group came up to my car to express his views. I asked why they had to go to this extreme, and he screamed that I was being un-christian, and proclaimed that Jesus would be out there with them.

First of all, he had no way of knowing I was a Christian, though I am. Secondly, what these people are doing is not Christian, and is not what Jesus would do (in my opinion). Jesus was about social change and stirring people up, but with love, not with shock and awe, and he would have compassion for those who are in pain and torment.

All the women I know who have had an abortion took the decision to act lightly, many went through the procedure in tears and still have sadness years later--eventhough they feel they did what they had to do.

These people who hold up pictures of aborted fetuses and scream curses at women going into clinics are not (in my opinion) doing what Jesus would do.

Why are people so bent on making issues for themselves and everbody else????
I agree, there are many thing in this world that are in poor taste, but let's talk some sense here.

News stories and advertising are two seperate issues. Do you really want more sensorship(infringement on your freedom of speech)because of poor placement of ads and news stories. Top dollars are paid for premium advertising space regardless of stories.
Secondly, if you disagree with the format (or content) of radio/news/T.V/web pages, just turn to a different station, one that you find more appealing.
Thirdly, yes, those pro-choice picketer's are
disgusting in my opinion, regardless of my personal beliefs about choice, but they are exhibiting what is great about America, freedom of speech. If it offends you, and there is reason it should, just avoid the area, it's a small price to pay to protect your personal freedoms.
As for the childrens sensibilities, teach them to take measures to protect their sensibilities without trampling on others . People are not going to change because your sensibilities are offended, so, take steps to protect your own sensibilities.
This post reminds me of a story about a girl who went to the doctor complaining about eye pain. The doctor asks, "when do you get this pain" the girl responds "when I do this" as she pokes a finger in her eye. The Doctor
responds "don't poke your finger in your eye"
