Bon journo, my fellow bloggers! Just wanted to let you all know I'm still alive and well. I assumed a new position at work last week, and until I learn everything and free up some of my time, I won't be able to blog with you guys. I know, I know...you guys are sad and are missing me, but rest assured, I'll be back before you know it.

Take care!

Does anyone know what's up with all the Chevron gas stations that have been closing lately? This has been months ago, but I was going to stop at the one by my house on the way home from work one day (people were pumping gas and it was open), but decided to stop the following morning. I was shocked to see it was completely closed up. They've since taken out the pumps and the underground tanks, and several of the ladies I work with said the same thing has happened to stations in their parts of town. No notice was given...no signs announcing the closings...nothing.

What's going on?

Let me set this up for you, and see if anyone else thinks this is highway robbery...

I rented the clubhouse in our subdivision for my daughter's 16th birthday party for this Sat. I asked the management company TWO WEEKS AGO what I needed to do to get the pool area, as well, and they said they'd check and call me back in a couple of days (this was Monday, 4/23/07). Well, I never heard back from them, and got busy with other things, so I called again LAST Monday morning...the girl was going to check with her manager (who was supposed to call me back originally), and call me back. I ended up calling EVERY day last week and FINALLY was told (on Thursday afternoon) that I would have to contact the pool management company. So, I called them immediately, left a message, no call back. Friday morning, left a message, no call back. THIS morning, left a message, and someone FINALLY called me back.

I told the guy what the deal was for this weekend, and he tells me they need 2 weeks notice for anyone to use the pool area, so I proceed to tell him how I'd only JUST been told to contact them directly, and he needed to contact the management company and let them know. So, he says he'll see what he can do, asks me how many people, times, and all that pertinent information. So, I tell him between 60-70 teenagers plus 30+ adults from 5-10 pm. He tells me I'll need at least 4 lifeguards. Cool! "How much are the lifeguards?", I ask. His response...."$20/hr/lifeguard" WHAT?!?!?!?!?! $400.00 FOR 4 LIFEGUARDS??? I asked him if I HAD to use their lifeguards, and he said yes.

Is it just me, or does this seem like a rip-off? No, there is no charge to "use" the pool, and I've already paid a fee plus a hefty deposit for the clubhouse.

My daughter comes home from school on Friday (4/20 by the way) and tells me that she had a horrible day, and a horrible headache. Naturally, I ask her what happened, and she proceeded to tell me that about 75% of the kids in her school were stoned at school and reeked of pot. I asked her what the teachers did, and she tells me they did absolutely nothing. She said they DID have increased security, but she didn't hear of anyone being arrested or disciplined.

Now, for those of you who aren't parents out there, they were taking their TAKS all last week. She told me that two girls WERE pulled out of one of her classes while they were testing because of the drug use, but she didn't know what happened to them. In another class of hers, 2 boys were making a drug deal right next to her, not EVEN being quiet about it, and the teacher heard them, but did nothing.

I've called the school before because there was a student on her bus who was high and reeking every morning, and was told that they couldn't do anything about it unless the kid was doing it on school property and got caught.

Now, I want to know what exactly has to happen before our educators will do anything?!?!?! The parents of these delinquents obviously don't care what their kids do. Is it that our teachers are afraid, or is it a "non-issue" with them????

Any thoughts???

My co-workers and I were privileged enough to go out to Brookwood Community Center for a looooong lunch yesterday. For those of you who don't know, it is basically a residence for special needs adults where they not only live, but have jobs to keep them busy. They have a wonderful cafe, where the food is just outstanding, they have a gift shop where they sell their handmade creations (which are just beautiful), and they have a nursery where you can purchase some of the most beautiful plants I've ever seen for VERY reasonable prices. They have a beautiful water garden amongst it all, and it is a wonderful place to just relax and getaway.

Why hasn't Fox done a story on this place???

Well, the answer to the ongoing question of "will David Carr continue to be the Texans QB" has been answered. We just signed Matt Schaub from Atlanta! WOOOHOOOO!!!! This should prove to be a MUCH better season. YEA!!!! I'm ready for some football!!!

Sorry to David and his family, but it was time for a change, and I wish you the best of luck on whatever team you end up with.

I've been married since '96 to a WONDERFUL man. We LOVE football, so football season is our favorite time of the year. I have a teenage daughter who's driving me crazy, but is overall a great kid.
