Uggggggh! That's the best way to put this! I live in Doylestown, Bucks County. Yesterday we received about 1 inch of snow, of which only an hour of it had the chance to stick on the roads because of the sunlight.

It stopped snowing here around 6:30 last night. I have an early morning newspaper route covering Buckingham and Doylestown.

Why at 7 o'clock in the morning are the housing developments COVERED with snow and ice (compacted snow from vehicles driving on the snow) Why aren't those roads salted at least once????  Aren't these developments where most children live?? Again, children are walking to bustops on the icy sidewalks, cars are hurrying to work, the sun glare make visibility impossible at times, oh and then there is the ice to contend with.

It seems that unless there is plowable snowfall there are no Township trucks out!

Last year around 4:00 in the morning the same thing happened, we got a snow squall that put about an inch down on the roads. As soon as cars hit the roads, the snow turned to ice. The result: 6 multi car accidents between routes 313 and 413, a 6 mile stretch.

Why does Penndot always seem unprepared for events like this?

Just like in the fog, I guess it will take a tragedy for something to be done!

You have a shovel don't ya??? There are alot of roads to be treated in short order, the road crews can be overwhelmed. Major arteries are taken care of first, then secondary routes then residential areas. The roads iced up very quickly last night. give em' a break.

Give us a break!! 3/4 of an inch ended 13 hours beforehand!! In a suburban township!!! The snow stuck for no more then 1 hour. It wasn't 20 inches, it was 3/4 of an inch! 1 run around with the salt truck would do the job, not a plow, not a salt or plow train. Come out here the next time and try to walk your kid(s) safely to the bustop then tell me to give somebody a break! It wasn't A SURPRISE SNOW EVENT, there was plenty of time and shouldve been taken care of properly, before children are put at risk walking on ice!

I was on 75 miles of roads in the morning, until you are here then don't offer me ant advice to "get a shovel" when you have a kid tell them to walk down the middle or either side of the road and tell them they should carry a bag of salt, because 18 hours from the time our 3/4 of an inch of snow had started, nobody could drive through with salt.

Whoa snowman, I was just tweaking you alittle, lighten up. Now you've just irritated me. First of all, 1" or 12" can be just as deadly, ask my wife. Secondly, you chose to live out in the burbs. Lastly, you are the parent, even if school is open, if you believe it's not safe to travel, why would you put your child on the bus in the first place?
When I was a boy, I had to walk to school, both ways ,in the snow, up hill........ being chased by a bear.
I feel obligated to tell you that I'm still sort of kidding now.

As with Rob, I've been a weather fanatic since I was about 7 yrs old living in Albany, NY at the time. 1 Xmas eve I went to bed and woke up with about a foot of snow, since then it's been almost 24/7 weather all the time. I experienced 2 Typhoons while stationed in Okinawa Japan, saw the effects of the tornado that ripped through Limerick back in 1996 and the Lyons PA tornado a few years ago, golfball sized hailstones, 120 degree temps while in 29 Palms, CA, but NEVER enough snow!!
