I am now a freshman in high school. I have a heck of a foot. I have been playing soccer since I was 5 years old. We are one of the best teams in the state and on the east coast. We won state cup this year. I told my dad that my football team was having trouble kicking field goals and extra point attempts. He said "Really, lets get a ball this weekend and kick some." So I said lets do it. On Saturday I started with a regular extra point attempt. I hammered it almost over the back fence and into the woods. I was like holy crap. So I backed up and made 25 yds, 30, 35. Then I backed up to to take a 40 yard kick. I said to myself, if I make this, it will be a miracle. It sounds like 40 yards was easy, but it really wasnt. So I backed up and took the kick, it was short and wide to the right. Then my family pulled up in their car and came out to support me. So I tried to kick it again. And I made it, but just barely. I made about 3 out of 5 attempts. Now remember, I had never kicked a field goal ever before. And my dad didnt get a high school ball, he got a college ball. So then I went out again on Sunday and made 5 out of 7 40 yard attmepts. One more kick, I backed up to the 41 yard line. I made it through the uprights. So my best was a 41 yard field goal. Now I don't know what I should do. I am getting a little tired of soccer. It is just getting boring since I have played it for almost 10 years. I really enjoyed kicking field goals. So I need to ask you guys, after reading this, should I play football or soccer?

i remeber in high schoolaround 1971 ,we had a real good kicker who i think had state record for field goal, think it was about 44 yards

kickin under game conditions much tougher than a tee, have you ever played a contact sport?

plus you are a hero or a goat ,and most high school games are not decided by kickers

as a freshmen to have that leg , work on your skills, contact the pros and see what you can do to develop further that god given skill

You should also practice with a holder and a snapper...Timing between the kicker and the holder is very important.

Whats up my name is Tyler and I have been interested in the weather since I was about 8 years old. I met Rob Guarino and the entire 10PM newscasters on March 3, 2005. Rob is a great man and is very generous. I hope to become a meteorologist one day and broadcast from Philly.
