Wake up fellow countrymen & women, there is NO health care care in this world, unless you take strides to get healthy & stay that way. What we have here, is a SICK CARE  industry that gone nutso. People want to sue there doctor because he made them worse. Doctors need lawyers because they get sued. Why doesn't the AMA police there own bad DOCTORS & get them out of practice, (must be practice) they certainly don"t know what they are doing. The reality of this situation is most doctors equate themselves as Gods & we are merely here for them to practice on. Gods don't police out the bad ones, after all they are Gods. So, bad doctors screw up, people sue them, malpractice insurance goes up, medical costs rise, and people are left to figure out what to do. Question is, where did "ethics in medicine" go?? I had always thought that the doctors creed was "First do NO harm" what happened to that? Now  Hillary Clinton wants another chance to push her dersion of health care on us?? Ask Canadians or people from any other country what happens when government takes over. Excuse me please, I wouldn't take part in it under any circumstances, & will tell you now that Hillary Clinton would be the worst mistake this country could make if she geys elected President. She was already President once, disguised as Bill Clinton.  That should be enough for anyone, was too much for me. Realize this though their are many charletans in the health industry too. Listen to friends and family about good nutrition products. The best don't spend millions in advertising, or infomercials telling you they are the best. All of that money should be spent on the nutritional product, to make it a better one. All advertising cost are passed on to the consumer, who then buys a bad product with lots of hype.

I used to live about 3 miles from the Canadian border, and most of the Canadians that I have talked to like their health care system even though it has some problems not unlike our insurance healthcare plans. However, there are many countries besides Canada to look at and gain from their experiences. The only ones that seem to get mentioned are the Canadian and British systems.

Although it seems as though Republicans are opposing national healthcare, I would think that they would support it because it would reduce the financial burden on employers. Many of the illegal and legal people in this country are already covered by medicaid or medicare which are government programs and that number will increase as baby boomers reach 65.

So why not add one more program to cover the people who work and make over the poverty limit, but are not insured through their employer and cannot afford health insurance on their wages?

I think America should have two types of medical practice. When I served as a Hospital Corpsman in the Navy I admired the medical care we received. It was free to us, but there was one catch, you couldn't sue if something went wrong. Perhaps having an economic choice would lower the costs to provide medicine and offer an alternative. Malpractice Insurance could be optional, and choice is always good. Most health care workers always strive to do more good then harm. Mistakes happen, but there are many medical conditions which people will be happy to take the added risk instead of having no option at all.

Freedom means, just like in the card game of BlackJack, Insurance is optional not mandatory.

I think we need to get the pharmaceutical industry under control. These pills we take do more harm then good. When you go to see a doctor you have to wait longer because these pharm. reps. barge in without an appointment and get to go before you do. They make 60-80K a year and a car plus bonuses and do NOTHING.....guess who pays for that???? US!

Most people wouldn't take those questionable drugs if physicians didn't write the prescriptions for them. Don't blame the drug companies, blame the doctors who are supposed to be worth the large fees that they are paid. Unfortunately, there are a lot of physicians who don't do their homework, and patients suffer as a result.

As far as not suing, I agree that it is sometimes taken too far. But although I have never sued, I have had several doctors that shouldn't be practicing medicine. The law suits are about the only way of policing an industry or profession that refuses to police itself. Forget governmental oversight it is practically meaningless.

A doctor isn't supposed to know the drug inside and out. A pharmacist should know them but ultimately the patient is foolish if they do not do some research on a prescription drug before putting it into their body. If a stranger walked up to me in the street and handed me a container with a liquid substance in it and said "here have a sip of this" I would hope we wouldn't just take some???

Doctors are controlled as well. They can only do what the insurance companies will allow. Their hands are tied as well. Hospitals are a joke too. I spent just over 24 hours in a hospital about a month ago. My bill was 8K. I could go on one heck of a one week vacation for that and get MUCH BETTER FOOD AND SERVICE! They charged 24 bucks to test my blood sugar?? The materials cost les than a buck and the labor charge is less than 1 minute.....24 bucks????

Where is Tom Sussi when you need him the most? My insurance company and I got robbed and the sad part is I can't even report it to the police because it is somehow okay?

There was a great show on healthcare the other night. John Stosel (sp?) said "what if we had grocery insurance"? We would all load up on prime rib and lobster because someone else is paying......that is exactly what the healthcare system is now....A BIG JOKE!!!

When I lived San Diego, I needed a crown on a tooth. The dentist said it would cost 500 bucks. I said I couldnt afford that, I didnt have any dental insurance. He said, come to my clinic in Tijuana on Saturday, and I can do it for 200 bucks. I asked him why the big price difference, and he said, "At my Tijuana clinic, I dont have to pay medical malpractice insurance, so I dont have to pass the cost of that on to you." So I went to Tijuana and got the crown for 300 bucks less. Its a shame, but the insurance industry has a big part to play in the high cost of medical care here.

They want 360 dollars each month to have health coverage for my 6 year old child. My work covers mine, but for his I have to pay that much extra. The emergency room charged me 268 dollars for an ice pack. What exactly is the problem here? Is it the insurance, or the rediculous amount they charge for their services...
