------ Another taste of winter weather, and once again, it might only be a taste. A low pressure system which has made a mess of morning rush hour in Alabama, Georgia, and the Carolinas is headed to the northeast, and eventually, out to sea. It’s a tough storm to forecast, because the track of the storm, and the amount of moisture we get, are yet to be determined with complete accuracy. In other words, the models are not in agreement on these factors, even this close to the storm. Rob Guarino’s blog has a lot more of those juicy details. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory, beginning at midnight tonight and lasting through 9 a.m. Friday. Count on lots of cloud cover today, and a chance of some light snow showers or flurries here and there during the afternoon. The bulk of the storm, if it comes up this far, will be at its worst tonight. Looks like we start off with snowfall, between 5 and 8 p.m. Then, as temperatures drop overnight, sleet and freezing rain mix in and this wintry mix stays with us through the morning rush hour. This is looking more and more like a non-event for the Lehigh Valley and the Poconos. It’s also shaping up to be more of a rain event at the Shore. Then, we brace ourselves for what could be the most frigid air of the season so far....arriving by the end of the weekend. This latest event comes on a pivotal date in the world of meteorology. This is the date that rests half-way between Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox, and it is at this time that America's oldest and most experienced weather prognosticator groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil, forecasts the weather for the next six weeks. Will he see his shadow, calling for six more weeks of winter, or will he call for an early spring? With this forecast, do we really need the groundhog????????

I've tried to forward this question which is not about the weather but the environment--a musing question, I suppose. Why is there so much mold and mildew on the northside of homes's sidings, roofs, fences, and concrete? We didn't have it twenty years ago, but in the last couple of years I've seen it grow everywhere! Take a good look! It's scary!

I have been the weather anchor on Good Day Philadelphia since December of 1997. It's been quite a ride, and I've been extremely fortunate. I've spent much of my time during the years taking weather on location. Those experiences have afforded me so many opportunities I never would have had otherwise. I've visited countless schools and been able to show our viewers some of the positive things going on in the classrooms in our area. We've been able to focus on the many teachers working very hard, and the students who will always remember when TV came to their school. I'm also proud of encouraging our viewers to be "tourists in their own hometown." We've taken you to special spots, like the Camden Children's Garden, the Constitution Center, and hundreds more. These are places I might have procrastinated about visiting on my own, but thanks to this job, I've been able to feel so much a part of this community as the folks out there have opened their arms. How lucky am I? My daughter has been a part of this program, periodically, from the time she was six months old. And even now, people who recognize me and Nia when we're out and about remember when I did the weather from our house on her first day of kindergarten. She is in fourth grade! So many of her childhood memories are preserved on Good Day, and I am grateful. Just in the last year, we've made astounding technological changes here at Fox 29, and it's exciting to work with the very latest in state-of-the-art technology. My latest thrill is this blog. I look forward to hearing from you!
