First of all, thanks to all of you who came out to the Constitution Center for the Martin Luther King Day. It was nice to see so many families spending the day together having fun and learning about the reason for the holiday.

The three of us (my husband, my daughter and me) read the story of the 1963 March on Washington and Dr. King's "I Have A Dream" speech. No matter how many times I hear those words, they never fail to inspire.

-------------------------------------------------------
-------

Now, to the silly stuff:

From a BBC article, "100 Things We Didn't Know Last Year:"

-Nicole Kidman is afraid of butterflies.

-Baboons can tell the difference between English and French.

-One in 10 Europeans are allegedly conceived in an Ikea bed.

-It's possible for a human to blow up balloons via the ear.

-The Queen of England has never bee on a computer, she told Bill Gates as she awarded him an honorary knighthood.

-In the United States, it's possible to subpoena a dog.

-"Restaurant" is the most mis-spelled word in search engines.

-Lance Armstrong's heart is almost a third larger than the average man's.

-You're ten times more likely to be bitten by a human than a rat.

-The children's book, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, has sold one copy every minute since its 1969 publication.

-Jimi Hendrix pretended to be gay to be discharged from the US Army.

-One in six children think broccoli is a baby tree.

-One in eighteen people has a third BLEEP.

-Bill Gates does not have an iPod.

-Musical instrument shops must pay an annual royalty to cover shoppers who perform a recognizable "riff" before they buy, thereby making a "public performance."

Susieq, It is a pleasure to wake-up to watch Good Day Philly... Especially, you and Dorothy. I can into the studio on Dec. 10th and I saw where you and Dorothy perform your newscast and I know know why you two have a bond. I never knew that Sharon and George are downstairs. Leaving you and Dorothy together upstairs having a blast keep up the good work .I used to watch channel 10, I have been watching you guys for about 3 years...
By the way I wonder if the human that will bite us is a child,lol...

Sue, is your weather report given out on the radio anywhere in the mornings?

To the last question: Yes! I do a forecast every morning on BEN-FM. I have a good time goofing around with Dave and Jason. It's 95.7 FM, by the way.

Thanks, Lynido....glad you're having fun, too!

Also, I think the above quotes are from John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King. Am I right?

I have been the weather anchor on Good Day Philadelphia since December of 1997. It's been quite a ride, and I've been extremely fortunate. I've spent much of my time during the years taking weather on location. Those experiences have afforded me so many opportunities I never would have had otherwise. I've visited countless schools and been able to show our viewers some of the positive things going on in the classrooms in our area. We've been able to focus on the many teachers working very hard, and the students who will always remember when TV came to their school. I'm also proud of encouraging our viewers to be "tourists in their own hometown." We've taken you to special spots, like the Camden Children's Garden, the Constitution Center, and hundreds more. These are places I might have procrastinated about visiting on my own, but thanks to this job, I've been able to feel so much a part of this community as the folks out there have opened their arms. How lucky am I? My daughter has been a part of this program, periodically, from the time she was six months old. And even now, people who recognize me and Nia when we're out and about remember when I did the weather from our house on her first day of kindergarten. She is in fourth grade! So many of her childhood memories are preserved on Good Day, and I am grateful. Just in the last year, we've made astounding technological changes here at Fox 29, and it's exciting to work with the very latest in state-of-the-art technology. My latest thrill is this blog. I look forward to hearing from you!
