As I was on my way to my son's school this morning I could not help but ask myself where are all the flags. I put one out. As we mark the 6th anniversary of the 9/11, was it  too much for everyone to stand together as one and put our flags out? Is is too much to ask for? Personally I feel we should be hanging them every day and as high as they can go. We need them up not just on 4th of July, Memorial day, Labor Day, Flag's day, or Veteran's day, but everyday. We need to go back to be the proud Americans that we once were. We need to stand together as ONE. We need to stop the violence that we do to each other because Lord knows the terrorists do a fine job alone. Stop killing our own. Get involved and show the world that we are not going to take this anymore. It is awful that we are shooting our children of the future. Wake up America before it's too late. Today is suppose to remind ourselves to hold our loved ones a little tighter, to tell the one's we love, we love them, give a helping hand, and give that stranger a smile. We can't change what happened to us 6 years ago, but we can certainly fix it by not allowing anyone to hurt us anymore. God Bless America

It's sad, but there just doesn't seem to be that patriotic fever anymore like there used to be. Maybe because REAL Americans are tired of our government taking from us to give to illegals and other countries who are not appreciative? Maybe because REAL Americans are sick and tired of seeing our government cater to those that SHOULD NOT be here. And, maybe because REAL Americans are just flat out tired of the way our government has run this country into the ground.

In answer to your question, I think many people have given up on our country and it's truly sad, but not enough will bind together to fight the bad issues - it's just easier to throw your hands in the air and give up, I guess.

A flag is just a piece of cotton, it is only a representation of patriotism. True patriotism comes from Paying Taxes, Obeying the Law, and Participating in Government through Voting, Protesting, and Serving.

Gorbash, now that was cold hearted to think the flag is just a piece of cotton, what PLANET are you from?

Our flag has been out since Labor Day!
God Bless to all who has been affected by 9/11 and may you continue to have faith in all you do.

Mine's out every day of the year.

It's sad that it takes a national tragedy to instill some national pride into people. I think that's the only time people actually stop and look around to see the good people that live here, since we seem to concentrate on society's garbage all the time.

I SEE ALL YOUR FLAGS BUT YOU ALL REALLY NEED TO KNOW THERE ARE GUIDLINES FOR DISPLAYING THE FLAG AND 99% OF YOU ALL DO NOT FOLLOW THEM..THAT IS BEING TOTALLY DISRESPECTFUL AND UNPATRIOTIC.

Right now, the U.S. flag stands for the Preemptive Invasion and Occupation of Iraq and Torture.

I will never FORGET OR FORGIVE!!-Hdrider

The Christian Bible, as I recall, said those who cannot forgive will not be forgiven, but I'm not a Christian so correct me if I'm wrong.

The U.S. flag stands for freedom, unfortunately people seem to forget that, including some bloggers on this site.Gorbash, while I don't agree with you about what the flag stands for I will defend your right to say what you feel.Calling you a name like some people do solves nothing.

My flags fly virtually every day-though they are too far from the road for anyone to see. Not Christian-not suprised.

I too FLY MY FLAG EVERYDAY, from sun up to sun down. I don't know the exact guidelines for the hanging of the flag. I think they can be displayed after sundown as long as there's a light on it. I'm not sure. I emailed FOX on Fox unplugged so they could remind AMERICANS(even though they shouldn't have to) to hang their flag on 9/11. I saw nothing but the falling of the towers, bringing us back to that horiffic day. That was important, why was not reminding us to hang our FLAGS. I hang my flag in respect for out nation, service men and women(past, present and future). They need to know that we are behind them, not forgetting about them. BIGTED, could please remind us of the guidelines??

webprincess, you are correct to say that a flag should be illuminated after dark. There are many and varied rules about flag etiquette. You could probably do a Google search, or check with your local V.F.W. I am sure they can help you, good luck!

Mrrick, thanks for the info. I belong to the American Legion and I'm sure they would know. I didn't think of that before
