Interesting!!!!!

I saw some agreements on both sides however Obama won on the economy and McCain won on foreign affairs and the fight on terror, it went just as I suspected it .

I don't think either one stood out but Obama did start losing poise at the end calling McCain Tom once and then Jim.  I think McCain was a bit stronger but again he should  be, he does have more experience.

Both had to be pushed into debating neither one wanted to start it off, I got a laugh out of it, when they did start Jim couldn't shut either one up.

I'm sure I will hear Obama won and I will hear McCain won but in my opinion neither one was a winner because neither one  really answered the Questions asked, they both did ring around the question.

I do think Obama got the tax break wrong, I have paid less in taxes with Republicans in office I have made more on my 401 k, when my company gets tax breaks I get more raises and bigger bonuses, If Obama is elected we will all lose, companies need tax breaks to compete in a world market if they lose the tax breaks we will lose the compaines.

It appeared to me that Obama won by a nose. He seemed quick to answer, with precise, direct answers. McCain belabored some points (his experience) too much. We all know he has more experience - no need to tell me 5 times.
I will agree with you that they both skirted a lot of issues, but there are still several more debates to go - it will be interesting to hear the rest!

I will argue the 401K point with you. Our 401K's have virtually TANKED in the last 8 years!!! They were doing great in the Clinton years. Now, I'm afraid to look at my statement when it comes in the mail. Needless to say, we're not going to be able to retire any time soon...

The CNN polls so far say Obama won on all points. What did you think of McCain's body language, he never looked at Obama or addressed him directly, he seemed angry and showed comtempt.

Tonight, like most debates could accurately be ruled a draw, with both sides claiming victory but no real standard by which to measure winning or losing….neither candidate had a big gaffe or a one liner that stunned their opponent, there was no big “soundbite” clip produced by this debate like there have been in previous debates, but which does not occur too often.

A draw favors Obama though, because foreign policy is definitely McCain’s strong point & Obama’s perceived weakness but this debate did illuminate the fundamental differences in the mindset of the candidates, so open minded people can watch and decide who they agree with more.

Now that you brought that up - I agree. Obama looked at mcCain when McCain was talking, whereas McCain never looked at Obama. He either really doesn't like him, or was afraid he'd get "rattled" if he looked at him. Probably a little of both...

McCain 38%

Who Would Better Handle Economy?
Obama 58%
McCain 37%

Who Would Better Handle Iraq?
Obama 52%
McCain 47%

40% of uncommitted voters who watched the debate tonight thought Barack Obama was the winner. 22% thought John McCain won. 38% saw it as a draw.

I watch Fox not CNN and their poll said 84% McCain won and 15% 1% undecided. So I guess it is which station you watch. I think they both did well but reality is if the govenment adds one more thing that cost money and they raise taxes on business McCain is right, kiss you job good bye because they will leave.

Spoken like a true loser!! LOL!

I did think there was a win for Obama. We got to see how McCain behaves. Not good. McCain was a cocky, arrogant BLEEP. When Obama was speaking, McCain is off to the side with that smug little grin on his face. And I cannot stand the way McCain commented that "Obama doesn't understand that" or "He doesn't get it" and then Obama answers with an excellent answer. It just makes McCain look even more childish and wrong. Personally I think this debate was useless. Why the hell are we debating foreign policy while there is an economic crisis? THAT would have been a good topic to make the candidates think on their feet. THAT would hurt McCain, since he has nothing to say on the subject of the economy. McCain is a part of the group that caused this problem, so it would be ironic to watch him talk about solutions.

"I have paid less in taxes with Republicans in office"

Well then, you are truly an EXCEPTION, but not the RULE. For the most part, things have been WORSE under Bush. Things are continuing to get worse. More Republicans are not the answer.

Of course you wouldn’t enjoy McCain’s reactions, he was confident as well he should’ve been…foreign policy & experience are his strong suits, while Obama is good at memorizing lines & reading from a teleprompter…McCain draws from his vast array of life experiences and his extensive time in both the House & the Senate, and all Obama is left with is his own disproved belief that his judgment is so good which is why it was so easy for McCain to keep him on the defensive for most of the evening.

In case you didn’t notice though, the debate began by addressing the economy and the current crisis, and once again Obama tried to dance around the tough questions i

By the time the Bush cuts are scheduled to expire, it's projected that they will have saved taxpayers $1.6 trillion.

Now I know for a fact you guys got the same tax cuts as I did you are not paying more in taxes at least not federal taxes so you can cut the lie on taxes. you guys might be mixing up taxes with gas prices

Fox has McCain over Obama and CBS has Obama over McCain that is why I don't like either polls.

I told you McCain supporters will say he won and Obama supporters will say he won, so depending who took time to vote on line would decide who won, I don't believe there are alot of undecided voters out there so I find it hard to believe that is who voted in the polls.

Girlscout I believe you about losing money on your 401k some of the guys at work have also lost money and I'm not going to say what I'm about to say out of disrespect because I respect you alot, most people don't watch their 401k that is the fact at my shop, we can change where our money goes and we can do it on line I haven't changed mine because I have been making money. my 401k is in agressive accounts.
I don't know if you can change were your money goes but if you can you should do it before you lose more.

fox is reporting this morning that mccain won this debate by a landslide. 84%!!!!

also, within 1 minute of the end of the debates, mccain had an ad running using obama's words from the debate. LOL

i find it interesting that 8 times, obama said mccain was RIGHT about something & that he AGREED with mccain on something.

yes, i noticed too that mccain was acting as if obama wasn't even there.........that's what i would have done as well. obama was trying to bait mccain into an arguement & mccain was there to address the american people, not obama.

obama was RUDE & self serving on more than one occasion. he interrupted mccain over 10 times to try & control the conversation. and like REAL President, McCain just kept speaking to the American people & ignored Obama's rudeness as if he wasn't speaking at ALL.

obama says this one last night:

"And in the '60s, he wrote letter after letter to come to college here in the United States because the notion was that there was no other country on Earth where you could make it if you tried. The ideals and the values of the United States inspired the entire world."

he was writing letters in the 60's? hmmmmm then how in the world did he get obama mama pregnant if he wasn't HERE?

he was already HERE in the 60's (obama born in 61)..........and i don't believe he was here for an education............

more baloney baloney baloney......lies lies lies........LMAO

I did notice Obama was able to cut off McCain once and when he tried other times to cut off McCain he failed, that rudeness gets under my skin also.
I did notice that Obama agreed with McCain several times.
Obama tried to control the debate and failed but I still say nobody won the first debate.
here is one thing I noticed at the begining and end of the debate when McCain and Obama shook hands Obama leaned in for a hug and McCain kept him at arms lengths.

I still think Obama isn't ready to be President because if he can't remember John's first name when he gets angry how is he going to debate with world leaders and remember their names.

superbrowns - We watch our 401K's very closely. We can pick and choose whatever we want to invest in and can change it at any time. We do so according to the market fluctuations and have always made decisions that benefited us. But in the past 8 years, nothing we do has stopped the downslide of loss.
I want to know what YOU are choosing! LOL!

polarbear - I believe that Tom Brokaw is moderating the next debate and he mentioned that he will be focusing more on the economy. Let's hope so.

dprin - Well, just like the republicans always say that the liberal media (NBC, ABC, etc) are biased towards Obama, I will say that conservative FOX is biased towards McCain!
He won by 84%?? Now that's unbelievable as I thought it was a pretty close match.
