I'm trying to decide on somewhere to go between Christmas and New Years, how is DC? Are there alot of options for entertainment, sight seeing, decorations, between the two holidays. I've done NYC, and I will be there for Christmas, but I was considering taking the train down to DC after Christmas to check it out for a few days.

Has anyone heard of the obscene amount of our tax dollars that are going to the construction of a waste water management facility in the TINY town of Grand Ridge in Jackson County, Florida? There will be over $22 MILLION dollars (primarily State funding) spent to service just over 400 homes. The town has been offered the opportunity to link up to the treatment facility in nearby Sneads, but that is unacceptable to the City Manager of Grand Ridge, Junior Moneyham, and Florida Representative Marti Coley is backing him. This is going to end up polluting Ocheesee Pond, a pristine 5,000+ acre wetland home to countless Ospreys, other waterfoul, wildlife and a popular area for recreation for visitors from a wide area which is located less than 1/4 mile DOWNHILL from the plant, not to mention the potential for contamination of the drinking water of nearby residents, and possibly the rest of the state. The residents outside of the TINY town limits, will be forced to pay at least $3000 or there will be a lein put on their homes and yet it's free for all of the residents within the city limits, which consists of very FEW. The reason for this WASTEFUL spending is that 3, (yes just 3) homes in Grand Ridge had septic tank issues back in 1999. It seems that Mr. Moneyham didn't like the idea of hooking up with Sneads because the town of G.R. wanted to control their own management system. The Department of Environmental Protection is probably going to let this happen. The grant and permit applications were loaded with half-truths and deception. What a huge waste of money for the taxpayers of Florida, and a classic example of small town political corruption. Aren't their better ways to spend our money?
