We don't live in a perfect world.  And thus we are faced with choices, at times, none of which are appealing.  In the Presidential election, that's where many of us find ourselves today.  It would be tempting to sit home on election day, but that's just not right.  Anything can happen between now and then.  But if McCain ends up leading the ticket, swallow hard, but pull the lever for him to prevent a far worse outcome.  Having a choice at all is better than having no choice, as in dictatorship.  We'll keep fighting for our values and implore the President, our Congressman and Senators to support our values regardless of who they are.  It may seem like a sad day for conservatives.  But the truth is that it is our values that are important and we will stand for them regardless of who the President is.  The best thing we can do is be vocal in supporting and advancing our values even when they are unpopular.  That's what liberals do and have learned to do well.  They have also done a great job at trying to silence conservatives and make us look and sound out of touch and insensitive/intolerant.  That couldn't be further from the truth.  And rather than letting these folks set our agenda, we must stick firm to our values.  While governing and politics often requires compromise, there are some of our values that we just can't compromise.  On those we must stand firm.  On others, we can try to work with them.  But history unfortunately has proven that when you give these folks an inch, they take you a mile.  And they will never give conservatives an  inch.   In the end, we believe conservatives still make the best candidates for our country and pray for the future of our nation whenever it's in the hands of liberals or left-leaning moderates.  So join the frustrated Americans club today, but please vote in November.    And pray...

Hi Steve.

Conservitive or not our country is in a state of disrepair. We have endured a President who is a FOOL. His pride and selfishness has blinded him, as well as caused him to go deaf. He refuses to listen to the democracy of this Nation and is in fact running a dictatorship.
If congress doesn't agree with me than I'll Veto...If the house and senate disagree with me I'll....VETO.
George Bush is like a child with and ant farm and a magnifying glass!
He is a sadistic freak...not a conservative.
So...Steve...if that is the kind of childish, egotistical behavior a conservative must display..then count me...OUT.

Uh, Adam, with all due respect,

Reagan looked like a fool to many in his day and was despised by liberals. Today they all herald him. This President you now call a fool will someday look like a hero (not perfect). That being said, he has made numerous bad decisions, some of which were not conservative at all. He has also done a poor job of communicating his positions and strategies over the years so that the American people understand them. He also has not been very forthcoming with admissions when things have not worked out the way he hoped or planned. That is, in part, I believe due to politics and the the inability of Presidents, Senators or Congressmen/women to ever admit anything other than victory at the risk of being eaten alive by their opponents and the media. How many Presidents have been right 100% of the time, from either party? None, exactly. So you are holding this President to an impossible standard. And the truth is that you would not be happy no matter what he did.

If you want to really identify a foolish President, you need look no further than Jimmy Carter. He almost caused the loss of life of a whole host of hostages (taken by radical Islamic terrorists, I might add, in the 1970's!!! - do you people get it yet or are you that thick?) until Reagan came in and saved the day.

You clearly have no clue what a dictatorship is like. And if you did, you'd not make those statements. There are people oppressed by dictators all over the world who would pay any price they could to switch places with you. So get over your ungratefulness and

and be thankful you live in a free country with a military and a President sworn to protect your freedoms, particularly from radical Islamics who want to take your rights from you and the rest of the world as soon as possible. And you think Bush is a dictator? You are a clueless and a danger to our free society to be quite honest.

First of all Steve....

I have a clue for you...
i am not ungrateful to live in our country,I was born here, I pay my taxes and I have multiple family members who served in the military, and in multiple wars,so stop assuming that you know ANYTHING about ME, Steve.
How dare you sir!
This President has successfuly used 911 as a spring board for his personal...FINANCIAL gain.

How awesome is it that this President decided to give ALL illegal immigrants a Free Pass to stay here and burden a faltering medical system, educational system and housing!
It is an insult to our ancestors who came here LEGALLY and learned the language to make America a melting pot.

I love our freedoms and I have the freedom to say what I believe....prove me wrong Steve and use facts this time instead personal attacks!
Where were the weapons of mass destruction?
why is it ok to waste billions on a war for oil insted of fortifying our countries defences and investing in our own national security?
How about one billion spent on alternative fuels...is that insane?
Bush is a baby who has NO business in the White House and his daddy appointed his baby sitter to watch him.

I have one last point...Steve
This isn't the 70's,80's, or yhe 90's...it's the millenium and the world is more sofisticated...so try and move forward and remember captain conservitive...you'll cause more accidents looking in your rear view mirror than if you keep your eyes focused on the road ahead.

How dare I what? You were the one that insulted President Bush and conservatives. Reagan was despised and called a fool in his day and now he is considered a hero by all on both sides of the aisle. I don't agree with Bush in all his policies. In fact, I am 100% opposed to his immigration policy. I didn't agree with anything Clinton stood for either, but I would never stoop to denigrating his character. The fact is, you draw your conclusions from liberal talking points that provide some but not all the facts to slant people's view of this President in a negative direction rather than taking all the facts into account. And you've fallen for it.

I am from a military family as well. And we don't denigrate the Commander-in-Chief regardless of who it is,and I don't know of any military family that would. While we may not agree with all the policies of the Commander, he or she is the leader of the nation we are fighting for. Say what you will, you are ungrateful or you would not say the things you have. One can have constructive dialog about issues without assassinating the character of a person and questioning their integrity, patriotism or level of intelligence. When you think you can do that, write back. Until then, it would be best to keep your thoughts to yourself rather than demonstrate how uninformed, biased and hateful you have become. Democrats have been in power for most of the 20th century, and as a result, our nation and society are in jeopardy of collapse. You can't lay that at the feet of conservatives. We keep having to fix the messes that Demo

Democrats have created and then get blamed when they don't get fixed fast enough or make them look bad.

If you care about the future of this nation at all, you better hope that liberals don't ever end up controlling the White House, Congress and the Senate again all at the same time. If they do, you'll quickly learn how to pray if you don't know how already because that will be our only hope for survival. I'm not willing to surrender to radical Islamic terrorists as yet regardless of which Middle East nation they come from. it has nothing to do with rear view mirrors, it has to do with our future survival as a nation.

Again Steve....don't confuse me with some push over that you are going to bully off this thred.

I asked you specific questions and you answered.....lets see....none of them!
AS for constructive dialog...you personaly attacked me! I don't care about what party you are for...the bottom line is...BUSH is a discrace and thank GOD I live in a country where I don't have to endorce a fool out of duty.
I voted for him the first time and he effectively under perfomed. He has used 911 and our fear to line his pockets dispute it with facts and I'll "leave" this thred.

Liberals and liberal-leaining moderates always claim to be confused and can't enter into debate about the facts, just name-calling. They are also lazy and when presented with the facts, refuse to accept them anyway, thus wasting all of our time. You are entitled to your own opinion and facts aren't going to chagne that. All I can say is watch what you wish for. You might get it. Everyone looked to Carter to be the savior after the Nixon debacle. And look what we got.

1. Saddam had WMD's and used them on his own people. 90% of the reports at the time from ALL sources from MANY of our allies as well as the UN concluded he still had them and was willing to use them against Israel and the West. Not a chance the President can take that 90% of the info was wrong and the other 10% were right.

2. This has little to do with oil. If we wanted to "take over" and control oil in the Middle East, we would have stolen or controlled the oil in Kuwait. Everyone who hated Bush41 at the time said the first Gulf War was all about oil. It wasn't as we can clearly see now, and it's not about oil now. It's about defending our nation from radical Islamic terrorists and any nation who harbors them including Iraq. They had training camps in Iraq before 9/11 which we found, so enough of the Al Qaida was never in Iraq. They are given safe haven and organize in countries all over the world, Iraq being one of the safe havens.

If you're going to spew hatred rather than debate the issues, you could at least get your facts straight and look at the whole picture rather than just a

Steve....you sir are an expert at avoiding answering my questions. You can rant on and on as much as you wish, but the fact remains that you are avoiding the debate. You are using smoke and mirrors to hide the fact that you can't back up your broadcasted statements.
I haven't spewed and hatred, I am trying to figure out where that even came from.

1.we cought Saddam...so....what's the point now? If we are so concerned with wiping ouy extreme muslims than why not go nuclear?
why not do and air asult and be done with it?

2.It has everything to do with oil and we can't "just take over" anything...that wouldn't be the way a Democratic society does things.

3.I will ask you again Captain Concervitive....
Why are we still there?
Why are we allowing illegals to drain our economy?
Why is it we couldn't even defend our own homeland?
Why is it ok for the President to VETO everything that doesn't serve HIS personal beliefs?
Last time I checked he was supposted to listen to the majority.

1. You can't leave a nation unstable or you'll be back facing the same situation again in a new war that could be much worse than this one. We're not trying to wipe out extreme Muslims! We're trying to prevent them from wiping us out. I don't care if there are extreme Muslims if they aren't bent on destroying and terrorizing America, the West and Israel. But they are. And we must continue to work diligently to prevent this. And despite all the hatred, Bush has done this.
2. We're not trying to take over anything. We're trying to help stabilize a nation, let it be run by its own people and get out of there as soon as it is stable. That doesn't happen in a week or even a couple years. Impatient Americans need to give it time. And not everything is going to go perfectly, but neither is it the President's fault when things don't always go right. Not everything went perfect in WWII, but Churchill and Roosevelt are considered courageous heros today.
3. I've answered your first two. It would be plain wrong to leave too soon and we'd come to regret it big time later on. Illegals should gradually be rounded up, placed at the end of the line and forced to enter legally. Bush's position on this, in my opinion, is wrong. Seal the borders now! You can't have a nation built on the rule of law if you are just going to let people enter your country illegally, jump ahead of those entering legally and then be let off the hook. If they didn't want to have to return home, they should have thought about that first and entered legally...and not only that, they would have be

they would have been welcomed just like all other legal immigrants. We need to do a better job of protecting the homeland. The President has the right to veto what he wants, every President always has. And Congress can override vetoes. They haven't even with a Democrat majority in both houses. Democracy, a Republic actually, is bssed on majority rule. But it also protects an individual's rights, which is critical. And the majority are not always right! For decades, the majority of Americans felt slavery was right and acceptable. The majority was wrong, and it took a courageous President like Lincoln to take a stand against the majority based on his convictions. Today he is considered a hero. Not then. President Bush is doing the same thing. He should be admired for that, not denigrated. On top of that, he also knows that this is what a large group of Americans elected him to do even if this group was not quite a majority. He could not have been elected without their support.

So continue to rant. I am by no means an expert, but I am a conservative. Nor am I perfect, but when I have a conviction, I am going to stand for up for it. I'm not going to take a poll and change my convictions based on what the majority thinks. That may make me unpopular and even the brunt of jokes, but so be it. Those who stand for nothing and lead their lives by popularity polls are really not standing at all. When the first adverse winds blow, they're gone.

So, if you are liberal stand up for what you believe and defend it. If your conservative, do the same. But don't w

Thank you Steve...that's what a debate is made of and you may not be popular, but your position and points are well stated. I still think the current President is foolish in MANY situations, however, I am petrified that Binladin Obamma is gonna win this election! If that happens we are in BIG time trouble.
Who is the best choice at this point(in your opinion)?
Thank you for jousting with me....now....help me out with a candidate...please.

A lot can happen between now and November. I'm not happy with McCain, but I'll never vote for Clinton or Obama. I also won't throw my vote to a non-party conservative independent at the risk of throwing the election to Clinton or Obama. So, if the election were held today, I'm afraid I'd have to vote for McCain as the least of the evils. A lot of my friends love Huckabee and will vote for him in April in PA if he is still on the ballot. I am not sold on him, however. With McCain, at least we know what we've got and he'll be a hawk on terrorism. With Huckabee, there's just too much we don't know though he appears to be more conservative. They are both weak on immigration, but then so is Bush and all the other candidates running this time. Romney was our hope on that one and he's out of the running now. Stay tuned.

A conservative eternal optimist. The sun is rising, not setting. But I am concerned about the condition of our nation and how indoctrinated we have become as a society with liberal ideologies that don't encourage or teach people to think for themselves and reach their own conclusions. And the lack of moral absolutes today in our society is more dangerous than anything else, including radical Islam. And I am sick of political correctness. It's going to kill us all. I strongly believe in prayer and in the mercy and goodness of God. But for the grace of God, the sun would have already set on this nation.
