In April of this Year our President signed the Second Chance Act of 2007.  One of the reasons I liked the former Governor of Texas is that he came clean in more ways than one before he even ran for president.  I think folks are forgetting the compassion and the heart this bumbling human has.  I think folks forget sometimes that even The President of the United States is human.

President Bush gave us a look at The Armies of Compassion when he signed the Second Chance act.  He showed the true spirit of conservative grace that makes us great as a nation.  I think where liberals and conservatives have the biggest problem agreeing is in the point of how to help and how to govern.  Welfare used to be big business and welfare checks made many drug cartels extremely wealthy.  Now we've been enlightened a bit and are looking to put money into helping folks recover from poverty by addressing issues that bring about poverty in folks lives.  This is a conservative value that made faith based initiatives so appealing... it's the sound wisdom of not blowing a trumpet as you give alms and not letting the left hand know what the right hand doeth.

BUT!

We got away from all that didn't we?  Got tired of liberals making off with our glory and criticising our good intentions.   We took abuse as conservatives and our religious right began being outwardly critical and reacted to abusive criticism with strait talk expressly preached for those already in the Chior.  We thought the base was still the majority and morality would win the day since the best thing since sliced bread was still the wonder of American Christianity.

Perhaps it's time to practice what we've forgotten.  It is the kindness of our God... the overwhelming grace and forgiveness of God that leads men to repentence. (I know I know... but myfox DC doesn't have a Faith Blog)  And if we the conservatives want to go around using scripture to criticize than well... boy oh boy somebody tell Ward he really is being way to hard on the Beaver.  June needs to step in and step it up and explain gently the wisdom of the ancient paths...  well... that may be happening "don'tcha know...".

Anywho...

Blogging is fun.  I really wonder at those of you using Christian scripture to justify your horribly insulting and condescending presentation of conservative values.  Stop it please... and realize that as the vote on California's prop 8 shows there could have very well been a black conservative candidate of merit.    However... there is still alot of in your face closet racism in the party of Lincoln.  So please wake up and smell the restitution... do something great... do something wonderful... come back with the come back  or they'll be crowning President Elect Obama King by 2012.

Ahhh this in response to your godless godliness? Who do you think you are? You began by preaching old testament righteousness using a King who failed.

And what's an I M? instant messaging? Ahhh...

You know... my point is you want to quote part of the text and ignore the overall spirit of the whole thing. It just boggles my mind that first you would accuse the guy who slapped the cross out of the little old ladies hand of going with the what would Jesus to routine and them claim I'm using a Godly routine simply because I chose to read and reason from more of the text available.

No... you can LOL all you want and I'll even laugh with you if I'm acting a fool. But an undeserved curse does not come to rest on me. I judge myself so that I won't be condemned by my own routine.

"The Bible is the written word of God, and because it is written it is confined and limited by the necessities of ink and paper and leather. The Voice of God, however, is alive and free as the sovereign God is free. 'The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.' The life is in the speaking words. God's word in the Bible can have power only because it corresponds to God's Word in the universe. It is the present Voice which makes the written word powerful. Otherwise it would lie locked in slumber within the covers of a book." (A. W. Tozer, The Pursuit of God. Christian Publications. 1948. pg. 74).

"Granting absolute status to the written witness was then and now a system of religious absolutism or religious fascism. It was then and now idolatry in its most insidious form because it makes a visible icon out of the witness to the Word of God. Taking that which belongs to the living Word (the eternal and inerrant attributes of God) and bestowing it on written Scripture compromises the uniqueness of the incarnation. As there is only one incarnation, so there is only one union of perfect divinity and perfect humanity. The one ideal, sinless humanity is the Word made flesh in Jesus' humanity." (Robert D. Brinsmead, "The Gospel and the Spirit of Biblicism, Part I", The Christian Verdict, Essay 15, 1984. Fallbrook: Verdict Publications. Pg 7).

He will judge between many peoples and will settle disputes for strong nations far and wide. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore.
Micah 4:3

But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven. Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. - Jesus Christ, Matthew 10:33-34

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood... Therefore put on the full armor of God... Take the the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. - Paul Ephesians 6:10-20

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) - Paul 2 Corinthians 10:3-4

It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. - Jesus Christ, John 6:63

Gods word in the Universe is the power rather it is locked up in the book or not. It fascinates me how many old testament bible scholars choose to ignore the ever present help Jesus offers in the New. They've reverted to the old wine... going about like old wine skins seeking to establish their own far right.

I'm a retired vet who loves to come up with donut shop solutions through soup kitchen prophecies. My goal is to encourage the growth of alternative sentencing through "habilitation" programs. These quiet unsung organizations need our quiet unsung support. (Edit May 24, 2008, Of course since then I've been getting into more interesting material.) _________________________

OK... all predictions deleted since Mccain didn't win. Brook White didn't win Idol and Hillary didn't drop out of the election. Congratulations to us all on a new President. The first President to be only half white as far as we all know. But it's ok the separatist have been predicting an invasion of mongrel hordes and let's hope they took their can openers to their caves. After all... this really is a free country.
