I've been to all kinds of Christian Churches in America.  One idea that came into my mind as I sat in an all (or mostly) 'white' church and then in an all (or mostly) 'black' church is that wouldn't it be great if one Sunday they switched Choirs?

I don't know how to bring Americans closer together but I do know that music sung by the human voice is one of the most shared and positive human experiences we all can relate to on a spiritual or hear felt level.

In my travels I've also been to Asian and Latino Christian Churches and thought it best not to finish this without mentioning them.  I've never been to an Islamic Temple or a Jewish Synagogue but they too are Americans and I think it best to mention them as well.  Oddly enough I remember the idea today as I watched a PBS broadcast of 'Celtic Women'.

Perhaps it's one idea that might bring us all closer together.  Not a time of politics, race or even religion but a time of celebrating life through song and gratitude for what we all share no matter what... a beating heart.

The Choir Exchange Program.

here's a better idea tax those churches and really give the money to the poor ..I'm sure that would really sound like music to them more than a bunch of music sung by a bunch of American idol wannabes

I think the idea here is to bring people together through music, although i'm not so sure church music its the way to go here. Many people now a days don't bother to attend church, and the target people definately don't attend. So although a good idea I feel it needs to be explored a bit further. So it effects all walks of life.

My focus here is the fact that there are mostly white and mostly black churches who might find it helpful to do this one thing.

I'm sure that such a thing has happened before. I'm sure that such a thing has happened before cause American folks saw the need to quietly address some social/racial misunderstanding or difficulty.

I think a Choir Exchange would work better than say... a Pastor Exchange... at first. I think impromptu dialoges would get started. New networking solutions to individual problems and misunderstanding achieved. The pot lucks would definately be more interesting.

Besides this blog I plan to look for other blogs and pass the idea out as one way we as Americans can bridge the racial divide and Unite us as the one race we have become.

I too would love to see the races untie, but there is so much hate in this world that I really can see no end to it. Many people are starting to come together and are trying to become one. However, there are more who would rather stereotype people instead of understanding them.
