This is my response to the Christians who are either telling me where I am going or trying to convert me.  To those that have supported me or wanted to know more, thank you.

Misplaced Deity Sought By Christians

So, I'm standing at a bus stop and they pull up. A car load of well
meaning, bible thumping nut cases that are just frantic! The middle
aged professionally dressed woman rushes forward...She takes my arm
and with trembling voice, she asks...."Have you found Jesus?" Her eyes
plead with an urgency that is out of proportion to a bus stop.

Now normally I just politely decline the sermon, and free religious
paperwork that such folk pawn off on unsuspecting by-standers. But,
unfortunately for her, she is the fourth car to accost me in the last
9 minutes. So by now I'm beginning to wonder what the heck is wrong
with these people. I mean if it's not Christians, it is the Jehovah's
Witnesses. Can a simple Druid get no peace?

So calmly as I can muster, without being sarcastic, I reply, "You
people lost him, again?"

The woman looks confused. This is not the response she was hoping for
and she needs to regroup. She takes a deep breath intending to launch
into her sales pitch for her God, and church, paying no heed to the
concept that I might not be into being converted. I decide to not let
her get going so I launch into a speech of my own.

"What is wrong with you Christians? Every time I turn around you've
lost Him!" I hit her with a glare of accusation. "I mean really..." I
take a measured breath. "How do you expect to have anyone follow a
deity that you can't even find?"

The poor woman looks stunned. This isn't going so good. Panicked she
looks desperately to the car... Surely one of the men can help....
Undaunted I press on... "Maybe the problem is with you people. I mean
Muslims never seem to loose their deity. Come to think of it neither
do Jews or Pagans of any kind."

I look at the man getting out of the car. He's all smiles. "I realize
you people used to burn people like me at the stake. What was that
about... deity even? I may be a Pagan-heathen, but I have never ever
woke up panicked that I couldn't find my Goddess or God. They are
always right where they should be... In the fire of my candle, in the
air that I breath, in the earth that I stand on, in the water of my
spring. I never feel abandoned by my deity(ies)."

"Of course, you Christians aren't much fun," I continue. By now they
are all out of the car. Befuddled, aghast, and at a loss for words.
"Of course," I offer trying to give them some defense for losing
Jesus. "He could have left due to religious differences. If I remember
correctly, He was Jewish.

So if you are really so eager to find him," I smile gently to soften
the blow, "Check the nearest synagogue. He's probably in there. Also
you folks should try and remember that this is America... Where
freedom of religion means ALL religions."

Slowly they climb back into their car and drive away. I stand at the
bus stop... No pamphlets, no bible, no dogma. I haven't found Jesus,
but I haven't lost him either.

Never, ever have I gone to tell someone about Christ and grabbed their arm, shaking, asking them if they've found Jesus! If this is a true story, that lady witnessing to him really IS a freak!

I have, however, knocked someone's door (and NO I'm NOT a Jehovah's Witness and I'm NOT a Mormon). Just an example: I knocked someone's door to tell them about Christ. At first, all was quiet inside. The curtains rustled, then I noticed the stereo was quickly turned on. I think it was ICP or something hateful that might really scare me right out of my little Christian boots. He answered the door holding a coffee cup with a pentagram on it, calling his dog "Satan, calm down!" What did he think that was going to do? Send me running off of his porch crying for God's help? It's funny that no one might even consider that I am also a person with a past. I used to go to the very concerts to hear the music that he was pumping out to "scare me off". In fact, I may have bloodied his nose in a mosh pit at one time.

I'm sorry to hear that these people who witnessed to this man were that easily scared off. But, those people aren't representative of many Christians I know. People who really walk with God aren't that easily shaken. Most of the ones I know are ex drug addicts, dealers, drunks, thieves, sluts..... you name it. We aren't running around shaking in fear that someone might say something bad about our Jesus.

You want to know what actually takes guts? Walk up to people and try the simple task of inviting them to church or telling them about Jesus. Tuck a bible

BTW, I didn't find Jesus. He's been there all along. I was the one who was lost -- not Him.

oops, got cut off......

Tuck a bible under your arm and walk into work one morning. Stand for something that no one you know stands for --- that takes guts.

rightwinger, I have done that and I currently doing that right now. You know how hard it is stand for something you believe in when you feel others are against you.

When I state I am a pagan, most people run for the Bible and holy water. LOL Seriously, I have gone into work with my books about paganism and just read them on my break. Not a single person had said a single word to me.

I have the perfect solution to them, at least if my wife and I are together. Nia is Sunuth, a sect of Islam. Guess what I do, let them talk to her. Works every time.

having the guts to profess paganism is one thing but it will take more than that to spend ETERNITY in the hell of your own making, give Jesus a chance, He is giving you one every day you live.

*shakes head*

inriislord, I am in Hell right now. It is because you keep tormenting me. Please, do not try and convert me or scare me anymore. I have made my decision and I very happy with what I have chosen.

I spent all of my childhood, my teenage years and part of my adulthood being scared by the Catholic Church. I have studied world religions, attended several different faith based Christian Churches (Baptist, Non, Lutheran) and I have talked with a Baptist minister at great lengths.

I think I have given you God more than a fair try.
