squirrelboy's Blog

Well, I see there is a new blog posting section that deals with faith.  I, like Chris, generally keep my faith to myself.  I have found one's personal faith can cause a great deal of arguments.  Especially mine, I see myself as pagan in my beliefs.

My whole take on this subject, we each follow our own personal path of faith.  There is no 'right' or 'wrong' path of faith.  I know there is a lot of Catholics and Christians that are silently screaming at their computer screens at this time.  I can here them saying: "There is only one faith that is the path of Jesus!".

Please take a moment to look at the world around you.  There is a lot of paths that eventually lead to someone's idea of heaven.  Who is not to say it was the Christian God who allowed each person to walk their path of faith?  Or the Muslim God, the Jewish God, the Goddess and God of my faith or the flying spaghetti monster?

Just a little thought for the day before the flaming begins.  I know the stubborness that can come with the discussion of faith.  All that I ask that you listen to the other side before you jump in with your stubborness and bible in hand.

BTW, if you get out of hand I will find something that I got a great laugh out of but will make the Christians very unhappy.  :)

I am a Celtic based pagan belief system. I believe in my Lord and Lady or Goddess and God if you prefer. I consider Brigit to be my Goddess.

I'm still lost. Where is Brigit, what does she do, where does she reside, what is her history, what did/do the Celtic believe?? I need more details---I am from the Show Me state.

inriislord, I have faith though it is different in what you believe. You are the exact reason why I do not wish to discuss my faith that much. People like you are very narrow-minded and cannot see the world around them.

inriislord, where do you think a majority of the Christian holidays originated? A majority of them were Pagan holidays that were incorporated into the Christian faith. Why were they incoporated? To make the transition easier for Pagans.

And as for further details, it is very difficult to spell it all out in a small post. However, mrmgrady did find some great sites that sum up my beliefs. Also, this a good reference too: http://www.joellessacredgrove.com/Celtic/celtictraditio

So many people get upset at christians because they think we are "pushy" and we think "our way is the only way". The truth is...most of you who are not christian often say, "I believe" or "I think" when you talk about how you get to Heaven.

Christians sometimes say that, too...just to try not to be called "pushy".

But as true christians, we don't THINK, we KNOW how to get to Heaven. We KNOW who God is, we KNOW that Jesus died for our sins, We KNOW. Maybe that makes us pushy. But, like my pastor says often...if you do not KNOW 100% positively for sure that if you died this day, you'd go to Heaven, then you will 100% positively go to hell.

It's not about what you think...it's about what God wants.

Ismlp it comes down to what I believe and what you believe. There is no definitive proof that either one of us is correct or wrong. Each one of us has a BELIEF in what we think is right. Just like an atheist BELIEVES there is no God of any type.

Each time I feel the breeze or when my candle flickers when I talk with my Goddess and God, I know they are listening and speaking with me. That is how I confirm my belief in my Goddess and God.

With you, I know it is something different to confirm your belief in your God. Just like it is different for the Muslim or the Jew in what they believe confirms their beliefs.

And yes, Christians can be very pushy. Do you see a pagan or a Jew or a Muslim going door to door to convert you? Do they put pamphlets on your car? Do they have TV shows showing the virtues of their faith? I say nay on that thought.

damn straight . pegan and proud! born again pegan! sorry i havent been to churh lately ive been busy practicing witchcraft and becoming a lesbian! i have no sympathy for christian/catholics, let them stress themselves out daily, high stress=short lifespan. everyone do the world a favor and go out of your way to defend yourselves against christian catholic attacks. they have no interest in truth and no basis in reality. help them with their stress by adding to it, maybe they will worry themselves into early graves

Squirrelboy I have been enjoying this blog and the comments. Glad to see another person who sees how the Christian religion has evolved over the last 2007 years. Funny how in order to get more members besides beheading non-believers Christians would assume a practice like All Saints Day and then claim it for their own. Nice to know that there is at least one other person who knows that one religion is not above all others.

Stinkabinka I started using bible humpers for those Christians who came to the door. My favorite experience was about ten or so years ago when I just gotten out of the shower and these two bible humpers were knocking at my door. So I dropped the towel and open the door wide. You could see the shock in their faces and I asked, “What’s the matter don’t like what God created?” I haven’t seen any members from that Church since or in the subdivision I live in either. Now if I can get rid of the fake college students selling magazines.

Squirrelboy
I just have a question, I know there are no texts, except what has been written in the last couple of centuries. How do you know you are practicing what the pagans did 4,000 years ago? Isn't Neo-pagan, different from the pagans of long ago? Just curious

It is most unfortunate that the Church was involved with the Crusades and the Great Inquisition! It was NOT a true mission of the Church, but it was done through evil people (yes, there was EVIL in the Church back in those days!). I do not appreciate pushy Christians myself (even though I AM Christian!). I have argued many times with Jahova's Witnesses about religion and the Bible. They are relentless! I can certainly empathize with those who were turned-off by the pushy Christians!!!
