For years since the gas crisis of the 70's there has been a general cry to get off our reliance of middle east oil. This is clearly  a broad problem with many past congress leaders and presidents to blame, besides the ecology fanatics who are more concerned about the carabou  and the polar bear than if  joe q public  can afford to feed his family or pay the mortgage with sky high fuel prices and inflation.
We now need the kind of leadership and goals that a great president brought forth in 1960 when he said within 10 years we will have a man on the moon.  We have the technology  and resources to be totally self reliant   in the field of energy resources within 10 years or less.  We no longer will need to bow to oil barrens in the middle east or nuts any where else in the world for energy.

Here are some of the solutions

1 more nuclear power plants

2 more wind power

3 shag oil development in western states--we have reserves that rival whats under Saudi Arabia

4 further development of bio fuels

5 huge natural gas reserves in  Gulf of  Mexico

6 allow domestic oil development  on continental shelf  and Alaska

We're on the same page here Brain.
Feel free to check out my blog which was posted on both sites.

The unfortunate reality is that the politically correct sector of this country is holding us hostage and we've wrapped ourselves in red tape that would seem too thick to get out of.

I agree Brain, although, we should be careful with biofuels. Right now, the world food situation is being devastated by ethenol based biofuel production. Save the corn to feed people and livestock. We could use sugarcane or something else to produce biofuel.

The politically correct sector is being aided by leftist main stream media. A quote from an article i read last month involving "global warming" coverage in the media...

"“Of the three networks (abc, nbc and cbs), 80 percent of stories (167 out of 205) didn’t mention skepticism or anyone at all who dissented from global warming. cbs did the absolute worst job. Ninety-seven percent of its stories ignored other opinions”

Is it any wonder Al Gore chose 60 minutes for his latest rant? :)

What you may not know is that there are Chinese oil rigs off the coast of Florida near the keys, drilling for oil. You can imagine they are laughing at us while they take "our" oil. From the latest reports, they plan to build more rigs. There must be a ton of it down there. So since we cannot explore for our own, step aside and let the Chinese do it. Makes a lot of sense huh?

Worse than that, our false designation of the Polar Bear as an endangered species will prevent us from polar drilling while Canada and Russia move in. Imagine, we refuse to drill there, but the number one supplier of Oil to the US (Canada) does. So we end up buying the very same oil we refuse to drill for. Then we threaten to sue OPEC to force them to increase oil production while we're sitting on a major supply we refuse to tap.

This country is really screwed up. You have other countries drilling for oil off our coasts because the democrats block us drilling our own. You have Michael Vick who will spend more time in jail for assaulting a dog than a child molester will spend in jail. You have companies going out of business due to high gas prices so people cannot feed their families so that a polar bear can have a bigger iceberg. We have a food crisis, maily corn so that we can say it is "green".

Can we please start taking care of ourselves for once???? I do not like where this is headed.

Unbelievable!!

Again,

When was the last oil refinery built in this country? 1976, I believe.

The last nuclear power plant?

With modern technology, I believe that we can proceed with drilling, more refineries and nuclear power plants. Even the founder of greenpeace is for nuclear power now.

Again I refer to katrina. How many oil rigs did she clobber? How many spill were there?

We have to take advantage of our own resources as a stop gap till we can develop alternative energy technology! Cause It's going to take a while before we can wean ourselves of off crude.

COAL TO OIL. As I've said before, we are the Saudi Arabia of Coal. Building refineries that would enable us to use this resource would cure our problems for generations. We have tar sands that could be used etc etc.

NORWAY the biggest bunch of tree-huggers in the world are drilling off their own coasts.
FRANCE a country of major liberals are utilizing nuclear energy!

Thought for today:

OPEC sells oil for $136.00 a barrel.
OPEC nations buy U.S. grain at $7.00 a bushel.
Solution: Sell grain for $136.00 a bushel.
Can't buy it? Tough! Eat your oil!
Ought to go well with a nice thick grilled filet of camel ass!!!

Snowbrain,

Check out the Chuck Norris video on Digg.com ( a You Tube Video), and read the Digg Comment by Michael Mooreon. I sent a heads up to ibejim about this (Jimbo, did you just get the MyFox notifications?). I'm sure you'd be with it 100%.

There is some Chuck Norris on the site that I posted a link to.

Can you imagine???

The only Hollyworm with a clue is Chuck Norris!!!

Who woulda thunk it!!

Good one Ibejim...Hollyworm! I'll have to tell MyFoxLA's Sebar that one! He'll get a kick out of that! I'll borrow Sebar's term: Chuck Norris is no Tinselturd or Hollyworm! He's one genuine nightmare to the worms and turds. I'll bet that big fat donut chomping "Sicko" with a temperature of "Fahrenheit 911" hates Norris' guts with a passion.
