I was viewing a sci-fi western movie I taped from last night and had an epithemy. I have been viewing movies for over 50 years, all kinds of movies.

Let me regress from the main point I will make in this rant, how many of you have been to a circus, a zoo, or any place where animals are kept. Its easy to assume that most if not all of us have enjoyed a good laugh at the zoo or the circus seeing the elephants or the horses go potty. What memories we shared with love ones seeing the shovel brigade clean it up.

Now getting back to the movies ,with the focus on westerns, i have never seen in all my years viewing these great films, and some westerns are supposed to be authentic recreations, a horse deficate or urinate , or for that matter, any horse chips in the towns street.

How could this be,did every town have its shovel brigade? This shoveler is the best kept secret of western civilization, I feel a statue honoring these brave people, who went out in all kinds of weather, all year round, deserve their kudos from society.

For years since the gas crisis of the 70's there has been a general cry to get off our reliance of middle east oil. This is clearly  a broad problem with many past congress leaders and presidents to blame, besides the ecology fanatics who are more concerned about the carabou  and the polar bear than if  joe q public  can afford to feed his family or pay the mortgage with sky high fuel prices and inflation.
We now need the kind of leadership and goals that a great president brought forth in 1960 when he said within 10 years we will have a man on the moon.  We have the technology  and resources to be totally self reliant   in the field of energy resources within 10 years or less.  We no longer will need to bow to oil barrens in the middle east or nuts any where else in the world for energy.

Here are some of the solutions

1 more nuclear power plants

2 more wind power

3 shag oil development in western states--we have reserves that rival whats under Saudi Arabia

4 further development of bio fuels

5 huge natural gas reserves in  Gulf of  Mexico

6 allow domestic oil development  on continental shelf  and Alaska

I have been a fan of professional football since i was  a youngster in 1960.They have put out a great product on the field and made another fortune selling NFL merchandise to the public. They are certainly a model of capitolism at its best and worst

They bring in other revenues from television and radio, besides all the money they get from parking and concessions. The NFL is certainly a business well in the black making rich owners even wealthier and giving elite athletes the opportunity to make millions in a  short period of time.

the problem the NFL has is that it does not take care of its own;ex players and coaches are working on there own to help former players with disabilities caused by giving there bodies to  pro football.Mike Ditka,Daryl johnson,Emmit Smith and others are trying to help these unfortunate guys while trying to get the NFL and players union to address the problem. It is so sad to see these former gladiators reduced to social security, welfare and living in the street because their bodies are broken from football.

I certainly hope that enough  public awareness  occurs so that the players union and NFL owners do the right thing  on this subject

Over the past few monthes on the weather blogs some things  have become rather evident to me. There are times when people get in an arguement and will say  some bad things to one another in the heat of battle.Generally they apologise and try to move on in a forward way which is commendable for  both parties.

However  there are a few on these sites  who feel this forum entitles them  to spew hatred and racist remarks without consequences, well I for one will report  all hatred on these blogs to fox.

I am far from perfect and certainly apologise for any thing posted or said by me that was taken the wrong way, i have never tried to purposely hurt people with my words or spew hatred and racial remarks after the fact.

These blogs are for the enjoyment of the fox community to exchange ideas, discuss weather and mutually enjoyable subjects. These blogs are not for individuals with sick agendas to persecute and ridicule, if you have a problem with someone -call them or email them, don't hang your dirty laundry in public!!!!

One thing about sports and people who love the game. When we are young our parents or our first little league coach, or older sibling, teach us the fundamentals of the game.In time as we grow older we become true competitors in the game, living to make that play , get that hit,and snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. When we finish school we hit the realization that we may be good for the neighborhood team ,but not gifted enough to go into professional sports. So if you are lucky enough to have good health you can get into sandlot games and amateur leagues with players into there 50s and 60s.In time however, some of us as we get older, who truely love the game and are not able to play the game as good as they could when younger get the chance to be the manager(the coach).thank you -jeff

Todays blog is in more of a light subject area. I know growing up as a kid  the expectation of snow was like the greatest  thing on earth.  I can remember watching wally kinan on channel 3 because he was the first forecaster in our area with the 5 day forecast,  and  when the mention of snow  came into the forecast i would be glued to the tv for that forecast every evening(back in the late 50s to early 60s)  Than as the storm would approach our  area i would look out the window for the first flakes day and all hours of the night, and when those magical flakes occured  i would announce to all present it  was SNOWING!!!! How many of you at a  young age would walk in the freshly fallen snow 3or 4 in the morning?  I know i use to do that. I am willing to bet we still have some snow nuts that  walk in the freshly fallen snow who are in their 30s -and beyond.

Many of us  as we go thru our lives come upon alot of diverse and different people. In time  some of the people that we see on a regular basis become our friends. Our friends can  be grouped into two groups, one group that disappears when time gets tough are your  sunshine friends, the other group that sticks by you thru thick and thin are your  rainy day friends.  I remember when i was young hearing that if you could count on one hand all your  truely good friends you were  an extremely lucky person.I don' know about you, but  I still have fingers left on my one hand when I count  all my truely good friends, how about you?

Ones life cannot be measured in the material world, we as humanity must measure our personal values and grow in true spiritual development as one grows from a fetus to a mature adult. There is a long journey called life that awaits us all and the last thing we should do is cast judgement upon eachother, i will leave that  judgement  to god.

I see about 90 days of spring time weather this year, i also see about 90 days followed by darkness each day, the periods of darkness should decrease every day until the first day of summer.I see some rainy days ,some sunny days , interspersed with partly cloudy days.In general the weather overrall should progressively get warmer thru the next 90 days
