4 People Shot at SuccessTech Cleveland High School Shooter at Large

We have breaking news coming out of Cleveland.

4 people have been shot at SuccessTech Academy, a Cleveland High School, at East 14th and Lakeside Avenue, police say.

According to the Cleveland School District, police are still looking for the shooter.

One victim has been taken to Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital, and three victims have been taken to MetroHealth Medical Center. Conditions of the victims are unknown at this time.

Fox 8's Belinda Prinz reports that the shooting took place during 10th period. A "Code Blue" was alerted to students and staff over the loudspeaker, which means there has been a shooting at the school. Students and teachers hid in various areas of the school. The school has since been evacuated; however, it is unknown whether there are still some people hiding in various areas of the building.

Numerous students have told Fox 8 that a ninth grade student opened fire on the fourth floor and then moved throughout the building.

Lakeside Avenue has been closed between East 12th and East 15th.

SuccessTech is a non-traditional high school, known for its high standards and rigorous program.

Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson is at SuccessTech responding to the shooting.

What are our children trying to tell us? Are we getting immune to this? As a mother of a High School and grade school student this terrifies me.

Lets stop pretending that we can take guns out of schools already! I submit that had the kid known that the teachers were armed and trained he might have thought twice. If we had physical control of the schools where a key card was required, and monitored he might have been blocked.

BUT! The ugly reality.. Anyone who throws out the window any fear for their own life, is probably not going to be stopped by ANYTHING other than ANOHTER GUN!!

Why is it ok to allow a SWAT team to show up too late with all their guns, but to arm facualty seems out of the question....

We not only have a Fire Dept to put out fires but we have systems in the building for staff to use too!! A man can get killed fighting a fire too, but we take the chance to stop smoke and fire as early as possible! Now lets start protecting our kids from the other lethal problems!!

Cont. Even having a tazzer unit will stop a gunman! At least let teachers carry tazzers!!

Just one more thing:
If this kid was suspended from school, exactly where were the guradians of him? Just exactly who is at fault for allowing a disgruntled teen to be alone during his suspension? I remember when I was suspended for a week once, I had to be with my Mom or Dad at work the whole time! Otherwise it would have been a vacation!

You know what really pisses me off? We are constantly seeing examples of people getting away with EVERYTHING! Anything you say will be considered a racist. Kids that are hungry try to drive themselves to a restaraunt. Girls crawing out their bedroom windows to meet dirty old men. We need to stop being afraid to say, "Sit down..shut up amd listen to me".

maybe you should look to the parents. i see kids at the mall as young as ten without parents around, i see parents putting dvd players in their cars so they don't have to interact with their kids. i see households where both parents work and the kid spends maybe an hour a day with the parents. these kids get their moral compass from tv and radio, where people are shot everyday, tortured by jack bauer for fun, and women are treated as possesions. these kids have no parent around to tell them "hey, this is all ficticous" and steer them in the right direction. you think the teachers, who keep getting their pay cut thanks to handy tax cuts, are going to care? this lays upon the parents shoulders to take the burden and teach children moral right from wrong. end of story.

Personally, I truly feel the factors of corruption in society are many. Economical, Political, Demographical, Cultural, Educational, Spiritual (religion), Fundamental, Ethical, Racial, and Moral attributes are the primary causes for the chaotic disruption which prevails in society. These combined attributes weaken gross sociological structures and thus implode and domino into individual psychological well-being, to cause instability and psychosis to eventually produce severely unstable beings.

Some choose to blame gun laws and control; who may have the legal right to bear arms and who does not. Should a law enforcement officer have the sole discretion to choose whom may be shot in a matter of self-defense? In light of the recent mass-slaying by a police officer, you may want to think your answer through. Ultimately, we as a progressively habitual society in America are far beyond the point of no return as far as gun control is concerned. Be that as it may, I choose to exercise my right to bear arms legally as an American citizen. I personally have a difficult time trusting anyone other than myself, especially when it comes down to my own life in my own hands.

So most will ask 'What if everyone had guns and it just makes it worse because everyone is shooting each other?'. Well, I say that we are not too far off from that point as it is. So, why not have the psychotic individuals think twice before running into a school and unloading clips if they know they probably will not get more than two shots off before they themselves have ten guns popping off back at them?

-Continued-

This is not a cure-all for violence and mass shootings as I said before, as there is no cure at this point, but it just may be enough for not only my personal safety, but also for the safety of the people around me. And that will just have to be good enough.

Yet another example of indiscriminate behavior run amuck. This is the world the progressives are trying to shovel down our throats.

There isn't another example I need to prove that thier social experiment will do nothing more than give us vile side-effects such as this.

My thoughts and best wishes go to the victims and thier families.

Ahhhh,

Did the socialist get his feeling hurt?

How about you go back and read your original comment the reflect a little bit instead of the empty nice try option. Then there are your threats directed at me in another blog, yet another fine example of indiscriminate behavior. If that doesnt work, check into the UN and take off the blind-fold while your at it you lemming.

i'm a lemming, but don't buy into what my government or the media is selling me... i don't follow how that works. and my comment is based on a society dominated by right wing rhetoric and corporate piracy. the last truly "liberal" president we had was jfk, and in some aspects carter. the deregulation of fcc laws, the deregulation of trust laws, and the lack of enforcement on tariffs and tax cuts have all been [perpetrated by right wingers or republicans in green clothing (READ: CLINTON / GORE). the more the government drops social programs, the more we cut taxes, the higher the crimes against humanity have gone up powerball. these things were not happening under any truly liberal president in the history of the united states. lets face it, if the economy were better off, maybe a family could afford to have a parental unit stay home to teach the child right from wrong, but instead we have an economy that is based on paper shuffling and mergers that only fatten the wallets of the ceos. but hey, lets blame the people who want to see social programs reinstated that will allow for an increase in jobs and an increase in economic stability... so, until you have honest facts to base your argument upon and not some hannity/rush rhetoric, please spare us your opinion.

hfaylor23.. You have any facts to back up YOUR ridiculous points? Typical liberal.. Until someone proves me wrong that means Im right?

NOT!! I don't need proof to understand whats going on here. Social programs IMO are not the answer.. Take this kid for example.. They took the kid to court, gave a young teen probation, anger management classes, even doped him up! Yet what Judge looked the parents in the face before the courtroom and the child and read them the riot act?

Hey Mom.. Dad why are you not controlling him? You want to see effective judicial work? Make someone else pay for your mistakes! If you're kid is caught past curfew for example, then Mom or Dad must spend a day in jail! As soon as we start holding parent accountable the sooner they will start actually raising their kids instead of tieing a key around their next and making sure theres enough Mac and Cheese in the house...

Parents can't stay home because a lot of them are single mothers getting no child support and no help from the father in terms of parenting. I could not get any government support because my husband would not sign the divorce papers and hence my family income was in the 6 figures, although I nor my children recieve a dime of it. I agree that parents are expected to raise decent children. Although mine have had problems at least they are not on the news.

As for arming teachers it sounds great but there will be some that won't and an ocassional one that may use it against a student that has not turned in their homework. No matter what profession you are in does not make you mentally stable and safe with a gun.

One of the big problems I see is nobody is allowed to have their feelings hurt. You can't call the fat kid fat, you can't call the stupid kid stupid. If you can afford to sign up buy the uniform and sell the fundraising candy little Johnny is on the team. If little Johnny sucks, you can't tell him, you cant make him sit on the bench and you can't ride his BLEEP at practice. Life is tough little Johnny..get used to it. Oh, wait you won't have to. You can cry to your Mom, your teacher or you boss the rest of your life. Better yet pick something you can be identified with and play it to the hilt. If you play the victom well enough, you can be set for life. So call the fat kid fat...he may just get in shape, call the stupid kid stupid, and make the poor athelete sit on the bench, otherwise they will never strive to change.

Caer.. While anyone can appreciate some hardships, it does not relinquish anyone from parental responsibility. But you are right, the mentally unstable are still out there

Well thanks for showing us how much you don't know H.

Your a lemming and you've painted yourself as such, you might be better served to keep your opine to yourself as well dingus. It beats spreading the misinformation that everyone knows about.

Who was it that said stupid is as stupid does?

Abunai: I agree and I am not trying to do a sob story, but there is 3 choices a parent can make, welfare, work or take off and not be in the kid's life. Yes, a parent needs to be responsible and I think part of the problem is that many of the parents of my age group and younger were told not to ask questions. The search of a room, computer, car or whatever was not proper. They would turn us in for child abuse. Another problem is that the kids are taught to be empowered, they are right and adults are wrong.

abunai...

so you call my points rediculous, and then basicly agree with me.
if our economy was strong enough that we could see single income households flourish like we did before regan, bush 1, clinton, and bush 2, that would leave one parental unit home to teach the kids whats right and wrong. but that somehow makes me a lemming for looking beyond parents not teaching their kids morals to the reasons WHY the parents aren't teaching their kids morals.

powerball, typical that you can't come up with your own thoughts and have to quote hollywood. get back in your hole.
