I recall recently that $4.00+ gasoline was all the fault of George W. Bush.  I guess now we have to thank "W" for $1.80 gas.  Blaming him or praising him does seem a bit silly, doesn't it.

Four games up in the wild card and four behind the Cubs - this thing could go either way and catching the Cubs should be the first priority - AZ looks like the team to play in the first round instead of NY but first the Crew has to get to the post season and if Yost keeps using Gagne in the eighth inning with the game on the line - well, let's just say it makes thing interesting.  Just because there are 10 million big ones going into Gagne's pocket isn't a reason to put everyone else's efforts in jeopardy.  A guy hitting a good pitch is part of the game but putting a cupcake down the middle isn't.  Go Brewers and please Ned, wake up!!!

Will NFL Commissioner Goodell come down on GBP Johnny Jolly?  I noted today that the commish suspended Viking offensive tackle McKinnie for a "brawl" outside of a Miami nightclub in Florida last winter.  McKinnie has entered a not guilty plea and the matter is still in the court system - he's still innocent in everyone's eyes except the commissioner.  Now for the Jolly case - he's busted for 200 grams of cocaine in Houston last winter - that's 200 GRAMS - not exactly personal use quantity and definitely felony material.  Like McKinnie, Jolly has entered a not guilty plea and his case is also still in the court system.  Why suspend McKinnie and not Jolly?  Any thoughts?

On April 10th, 2008, I posted a "tongue in cheek" blog about Favre wanting to come back far into the future.  Little did I know it would happen sooner than expected.  Anyway, on to the title subject "one hundred plus-oh my".  What a rally by Favre worshippers - a hundred plus showed up on a beautiful day to "demand" the organization welcome back his holiness and reinstate him as the QB of the storied franchise.  One hundred plus - holy cow - what a gathering.  I've seen a hundred plus show up for a garden tractor pull.  I've seen thousands show up for a chocolate festival.  I've seen a crowd of more than a hundred show up for a pig race at the State Fair.  I'm really impressed by the Lambeau crowd but I suppose the brats were done just right and the beer was cold.  I also saw Aaron Rodgers doing quite well at the golf outing in Lake Tahoe - he seemed to enjoy himself - it's amazing what a well balanced person without an ego the size of Alaska can do.

I heard something today that struck me as a bit odd - that being the NAACP has tabbed the Rev. Jeremiah Wright to be their keynote speaker at an upcoming convention.  I guess I'm not real sure that Wright's anti-American and hateful comments do a whole lot to advance the cause of the organization.  I'm sure he has done many good things for his congregation and neighborhood in Chicago but there must be others out there who have done as much, if not more, good and haven't asked God to damn America or accused the government of introducing AIDS in a plot to kill African Americans.  The NAACP is a viable organization and can certainly choose the speaker they want - I just wonder if they could have made a better choice.  What do you think?

Green Bay - Oct. 14, 2028 - The Packers announced today that their second year quarterback will be lost for the season after suffering a knee injury last week in a game against the Giants.  Brett Favre, the 59 year old Hall of Famer, contacted coach Mike McCarthy Jr. and offered to come out of retirement to help the team out.  Favre made similar offers in 2008, 2015, 2018, and 2025 but the team did not have him back on any of those occasions.  Favre, in an emotional announcement, said he still missed the game, knew he could still play at a high level,  and knew he was still loved in Titletown and just wanted to help.  He added that he had finally completed work on his estate in Hattiesburg and had plenty of time on his hands.  The coach reportedly told Favre to stand by and he would contact him after the season's final game to see if he still felt the same and they would talk about next year.  McCarthy Jr. also inquired about the status of Favre filing his retirement papers with the league to which Favre responded "oh yeah, Deanna mentioned something about that last night - I guess I'll get to it one of these days".
