Ever since Obama left Trinity UCC in Chicago, I haven't heard anything more about where he goes to church?  If he is really a Christian, like he spouts, he would be looking for a church to call home.  Is he waiting to see if he gets elected so he can call a DC church home?  Or is he really not a Christian at all, like has been suspected by many?

Mr. Obama, if you are really a Christian, you need to be a part of a local church.  That is biblical.

Mr. Obama, if you believe that their are "other" paths that lead to God/Heaven, then you are not a Christian in the true sense of the word.

Christ before all things.  Family before Country.  These are the two qualities underlying all great leaders.  If you want to be a good leader, that is the formula.  Miss it, and you Mess it.

The passage demanding that you attend a church is..? And in which version of the Christian Bible?

I thought the only requirement to be a christian was that you accept god and jesus into your heart or something like that? So if I get your post right, a person that lives in the country that has NO way to get to a CHURCH can never be a christian, Right?

I think the point Sip was making, Yellowdog, (Sweet Lab) and Ride (My Friend) that the Bible DOES say that God wants us to have fellowship with other Christians.
"Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another- and all the more as you see The Day approaching." Hebrews 13:25
But who says "Church" has to be in a building, with pews and stained glass? Jesus taught on the beach, on mountainsides, in gardens, in tents, on the streets, everywhere.
"Church" could be in someones living room, I've been to "those" all listed above. Ride, being a Christian may mean different things to different people. To me, it means that I believe Jesus died on the cross for my sins, and the sins of all mankind, that he arose on the Third Day, that He forgave me my sins, when I asked him to come into my heart and be My Savior, and that I believe He is coming back one day, to take me, and others who believe in Him to heaven, BECAUSE HE said HE would! I believe 100% of the Bible is true!
Obama, "He no know!" He's a Muslim, no he's a Christian, he loves his pastor, no he hates him, he's ashamed of his Momma, no he loves her...WHATEVER he is (not for me, fo' sho'!) he's not "fellowshipping" with any of "his own
flock"!

yellow, Deb said it for me, but let me reiterate,

"Mr. Obama, if you believe that their are "other" paths that lead to God/Heaven, then you are not a Christian in the true sense of the word."

Ride, the answer to your question is NO.

BUT, if you think that "worshipping" by yourself out in nature is a good idea? It's fine if you have no other alternative, but if you do have access, it is better to be a part.

Matthew 6: 5 When you pray, do not be like the hypocrites! They love to stand up and pray in the houses of worship and on the street corners, so everyone will see them. I assure you they have been paid in full.
6 But when you pray, go to your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. And your Father, who sees what you do in private, will reward you.

Thank you frank and deb.

The point IS that attending church is not mentioned specifically and "praying out loud in church" is discouraged.

"he would be looking for a church to call home" makes him no less Christian than if he attended 6 days per week.. the point IS our pal sipedo is a bit off point and Barry OB is not..

You're absolutely right about that, Frank!
Jesus was talking about the Pharisee's who were very "showy" people. They made a "big fuss" about everyone seeing them, and their worship didn't come from their hearts.
Jesus wanted them to be more humble, and he later said, "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never see the kingdom of heaven." Matt 18:3 But He also said, "For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them." Matt. 18:20 He wants us to "get with" other people who are "Believers" so we won't be lonely, and so we can "grow."

Hey sip, how you doin' buddy?

A lively debate with a zinger of two is a splendid thing indeed, deb.

I look forward to pointing out the foilbes and follies of the Dem's and our next next Pres, Barry O'Taxum and Vp Hairplug.

I'll surely miss Dick and Dumb and hope they remain in the news after they are indicted and put on trial for their war crimes and their economic destruction.

To be a Real Christian doesn't mean you have to go to Church. You don't have to believe in the Bible Neither. As I've heard and been told just have a Relationship with God and that's all. I believe in God and he is in my Heart and I don't go to Church. One of my Cousins is a Real Christian but he doesn't go to Church so don't say you have to go to Church to be a Real Christian! and as for Obama he is all over the place right now. How is he suppose to call one Church "Home". Think about that a while!!

Do you believe that God is the creator of all things?
That God is inside all things? That all things
are a part of Him?
Do you believe that God will only listen if you are in Church?
Do you believe that He hears a child's prayer
as he or she kneels before bed? Do you believe
that a man's relationship with God is sacred?
Do you believe it is private, between him and God.

Or are you casting stones?

CynPro asked, "That God is inside all things? That all things are a part of Him?"

No, that would make me a pantheist. When I swat a fly or mosquito I am neither harming nor offending God.

CynPro also asked, "Or are you casting stones?"
Well, to be honest, I have a stone on my desk, but it has "1st" written on it as a reminder that I can't throw it.

I can, however, report contradictions and inconsistencies that I see without tbeing guilty of throwing stones even as I solicit feedback from those around be about inconsistencies and contradictions in my own life.
