SIPEDO SEZ

Yet again, I have to blog about people who, while having fun on the blogs, choose to use language that most people consider inappropriate.

I once had a pastor, when presented with things that were blatantly wrong, referred to it as Horse Manure.

I was just monitoring one of my blog topics, and it said there were 29 comments.  I had to delete 12 of them.  3 of them as repeats, but 9 of them because I believe the language was used in a negative context.

Some in the blogging community weasle their way around using censored words.  I don't have to give you the list, we all know what they are.  They changed, added or omitted a letter to use their choice of words.

Am I guilty of the same acts in the past?  Absolutely!  Am I trying to change that?  I believe I already have.

The only word that I use, has a literal definition, but is also censored on FOX, begins with the letter B.  I would only use that in referring to a female canine, and only when and where appropriate.

What about you?

I find that I can be much more tactful and even insulting without using such words.  It makes much more sense to me to use words that actually describe what I am talking about rather than using words that are non-desript and profane.

Why does it seem that people have such restricted vocabularies that they cannot complete a thought without using some sort of profanity ?

I was once riding on a bus and heard some people talking in what appeared to be the language of profanity.  They began speaking to me, and I spoke clearly using well defined WORDS.  They told me I needed to expand my vocabulary, that my mind was limited.  I used words that made sense.  They used HORSE MANURE and nothing grew.

Everyone has their personal standards on what language is appropriate and what is not. Fox has a list of words which is considered unacceptable here and they are automatically bleeped. Your list may be somewhat different. I don't like blocking anything. My fear is that censorship at the word level merely makes it easier for the PC police to continue to force changes in our language.

I am a bit sensitive to censoring/blocking anything at all. There are bloggers here (e.g. CynPro) who take pc speech and censorship to the extreme, deleting not just individual words, but entire ideas, yet demand others heed their own rantings. To me, that's beyond scary- it is the seed of fascism.

Sip, I've heard this saying all my life and it's more true today than ever. Only a pea-brain without the intelligence to carry on civil conversation resorts to profanity. But as always, you'll have some Einstein popping off about thier right to "free speech". That may apply to private settings. BUT, when you choose to vomit your profanity-laced tirades in a public forum, censoring is definately what your butt deserves...

There is no way to edit other people's posts
even if they are on your thread. You either
must delete the post, or allow all that's there.
There are more than enough words in the English
language to have a conversation without vulgarity.
Good topic.

To delete ones post is showing a limited mentality because someone else does not have the same opinion as you. As far as this post it is true as to the profanity. A very good example is three black comedians. Bill Cosby (the best) is so funny and he doesnt use any profanity, however there are both Eddy Murphy and Richard Pryor who think they are funny but every other word is a cuss word. In reality they would not make it if it wasnt for the belief of alot of people who use those words. Remember the late George Carlin and his list of words? Well that list has been cut in half in todays language and alot of people accept it. Dont get me wrong I use some of them myself and sometimes one cant help it.

Not necessarily, Eric. If the blogger is completely of topic, and merely "using" the host to post an insult, attack or rant against another blogger, ESPECIALLY IF profanity, vulgarity or vile innuendos are being used, OR or if they're "hijacking" the blog by
attempting to change its course, at the same time being offensive, the it is absolutely the prerogative of the host blogger to delete the troublemaker.

I agree Deb. And that is a good point, it is my perogative to delete the troublemaker. I make no apologies for that.

For the record, I did not delete any posts that were ON TOPIC, YET.

Using profanity is a hard habit to break. I think that a lot of people do not even realize that they are using it. I find profanity to be rude, especially in a public setting. I hear these words and look around and see small children or old people in a store hearing this profanity. It shows both a lack of intelligence and a lack of self respect.

I've said this before but I'll say it again. The Constitution guarantees you the right to say whatever you want within reason. You still can't yell "fire" in a crowded theater. But the mistake many people make is that they think that the First Amerndment also gives them the right to be heard. It does not give you the right to be heard. People can choose to ignore you if they feel what you're saying is inappropriate. They can choose to correct or criticize you if they feel you're mistaken. They can even censor you if you're using their podium. Liberals think that the right to censor, criticize and ignore speech only applies when they want to stop a conservative from saying something. They get their BLEEP in a wad whenever it happens to them.

I agree with you too Deb. What I mean is in some cases some delete a post because its against the opinion of the writer.

I don't believe in deleting anyones opinion, I may not agree with you, but I respect your right to voice your opinion...I would hope you also respect mine.....

This isn't about not respecting anothers opinion, rott. Providing they have the mental ability do state that opinion without profanity. Then it becomes a matter of disrespect to those who can hold a civil conversation without cursing...

So it has to be according to what YOU say is appropriate? Personally I find the words "horse manure" to be very offensive!!! Delete yourself immediately! I can't believe I wrote that filthy word! I'm going to go wash my hands off with soap!

I let the bleeper handle it. If Fox doesn't mind then neither do I.

I agree with Norty, but on the other hand Sipedo, I am sorry for getting wrapped up in a candy massacre on your blog..

As for what I was mentioning about you blog Beginning of the End... You're smart enough to figure it out... I showed you the scripture pointing 666 as a reference to King Solomon and gold monopolization... King Solomon practiced a form of mysitcism, or Jewish magic that is believed to be the same as the kabalah... A manuscript of the Kabalah was found in france by the templar knights and was the reason for the crusades... Freemasonry traces it's origins back to the templar knights and the construction of Solomon's Temple.. Higher Degree Mason's like many of our major political player's, presidents, commitee chairs, ceo's practice "the craft", satanic rituals from the kabalah. Lower degree masons up to the 30th Degree are told very little about the true mission of masonry... They are actually led to believe it is christian in nature... They have a vast network of surrogates, and a tighter network of 'believers'. The CFR is a surrogate which is leading us towards a global communist economy, and then authority.

Hi All:

Good Post, I will try to do better.

Profane material is defined as including language that denotes certain of those personally reviling epithets naturally tending to provoke violent resentment or denoting language so grossly offensive to members of the public who actually hear it as to amount to a nuisance. Profane speech is prohibited on broadcast radio and television between 6am and 10pm. Congress has given the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) the responsibility for administratively enforcing the law that governs these types of broadcasts. The Commission may revoke a station license, impose a monetary forfeiture, withhold or place conditions on the renewal of a broadcast license, or issue a warning, for the broadcast of obscene or indecent material.

Like I said, you can put it together yourself if you research it, and read the bible. Christ, and the prophets often repeat the phase in different forms "Let those who have an ear, listen" and Jesus, when talking about the parable of the sower tells them that EVERYTHING is taught in parables, so that it is clear as day to believers, but a stumbling block and source of confusion to the world. When you can stop taking everything in the bible as literal, and begin to see it as metaphorical, or maybe as a riddle I guess, it makes alot more sense. Christ also reiterates the sentiment from deuteronomy that everything true is backed by two or more witnesses. My point being
1) The story of creation, baptism, the last supper(communion), speaking in tongues and the other teachings of christ were parables.... God is not pleased by rituals and sacraments held holy by many "christian" religions. They miss the point completely.
2) The four accounts of the gospel we have in the canonized bible provide the reader with a legitimate way to clarify Christ's teaching, and if you are objective, you can discern the differences between the true and false. Many churches have structure and practices that come from the letters of Paul and are accepted as divine, but Paul said himself that many of his views were his own, and many of his recomendations directly contradict Jesus' teachings. Christ said to his disciples that all will fall away.

I completely agree with you Spideo! For the others above, I believe this is what is being referred to as being offensive and trying to get around the TOS as written. It's people like Deb, and TAllen to name just a couple who claim to be innocent one minute and ya turn your back and this is what ya' get. I agree two wrongs don't make a right as I am not claiming to be innocent such as our beloved honies below, but when one is spoken to in such a degrading manner then one feels it necessary to respond exactly the same way! I admit I am guilty as it seems at times the only way to get someone to understand is to drop to their level. So yep, shame on those and myself at times for calling the kettle black. We should all use these as examples of making sure we clean up our act! And so much for anyone being able to voice their opinions. It's ok for some to delete whoever they want to but when it happens to them they cry about it. It's ok for Deb to state what she did above after a comment as stated below! The truth is if you're gonna write about respect, then live it!
