I saw a news story the other day regarding the best places to shop for healthy food. The stores mentioned were Safeway and Whole foods. The story was misleading. The two stores mentioned are some of the most expensive places in the valley to buy groceries, healthy or otherwise. Two storees that weren't mentioned were Sprouts and Fresh Foods. A great produce section as well as an excellent deli and bulk foods section. I'm not an employee but have become a loyal customer. They also have locations all over the valley. Also Fresh Foods has a decent selection as well as a good generic line. Just goes to show why the media is held in the same regard as lawyers and used car salesmen.

Is it just me or is food getting more expensive almost every time I go to the store. I don't see any Thanksgiving bargains yet this year. With the cost of fuel dropping, they can't blame rising fuel costs. Are we getting screwed again?? This time by the huge food conglomerates?

On the whole a great idea. According to the auto industry, we would save 100,000 jobs and the could start producing cars that people would buy. Sure sound great but look at all of the cars on the road right now. What would happen to those. Are the big 3 going to take them all in as trades? That really doesn't sound like its going to be part of the picture. And people buying cars?? With what?? Credit is difficult to get and unemployment is headed upwards daily. The big 3 gave up their leadership in the industry to the Japanese back in the 80's and ignored all of the signs of impending doom the short term profits. The sad truth is that they need to fight for their survival the best way they can and not at the expense of the American taxpayer.

With all of the whining by the big 3 auto makers about falling sales and closing plants one would think the sky is falling. Years of pushing gas guzzlers have finally caught up with the auto industry. Instead of closing these plants, why not start producing more energy efficient cars and trucks NOW!! GM could start producing the Volt. Mass production would drive down the costs to cars like the Tesla, an all electric car that can go over 200 miles on a single charge could become affordable to the average person. Keep the auto workers employed and the plants open. Keep the economy going in the areas where these plants are located and keep open the thousands of business that depend on these plants. Unfortunately, we have the same short sighted fools in management that made the bad decisions that got them in trouble in the first place.
Unless gas drops in price again by at least $1.50 a gallon, the gas guzzler will be a thing of the past. Oil is an infiate resourse and we need cars now that can run on other things.

I saw the news story this morning on Fox News Channel regarding the family in Arkansas that is suing their sons school as well as some of the parents over their son being the victim of bullies. This brought back some of memories of my own high school years as well as my helping my son through those same issues when he was in school. I want to say up front that I don't condone or encourage violence. On the other hand you have to take some responsibility for you own well being. The weak and helpless are the ones that catch the brunt of this and it seems that if you don't want to get bullied then you had better learn to stand up and look out for your self. The law can't protect you before and during the fact and is very limited after the fact. The liberal view that retreating into your own shell and then hoping some one else will help you is foolish and misguided.

In view of China's abysmal human rights record, specifically with respect to Tibet, its unlikely that any country is going to cancel its participation in the Olympics. China is far too lucrative a trading partner. I wonder how many athletes, specifically American, have the guts and personal integrity, to stand on principle and simply refuse to go. No totalitarian regime can exist without controlling its citizens through fear and intimidation. Most people, except for Muslims, will choose freedom if given the chance. I challenge my fellow Americans who can qualify to compete in this coming Olympics to simply not go and by doing so, prove to the world that you deserve the freedom You enjoy.

Normally I could care less about the British royal family. But then I read the story about the prince and his service in combat. This is an example of an irresponsible out of control media that simply doesn't care about who's or how many lives it endangers just to get a 'story'. The British people should be outraged and we as the ultimate consumers need to take a long hard look at what we are willing to put up with in the name of 'freedom of the press' because with freedom comes responsibility the very least of which is to use a little common sense

What a surpise.. Bill Clinton lying? After all, the man is a professional liar. He did once purger himself under oath. He lied to the American people(I did not have sex with that woman). He cheated on his wife. Here is the man the Democrats take so much pride in. I have a lot more respect for Obama and his willingness to be a lot cleaner in his campain then Bill Clinton's wife. Those of us posessed by common sense can only imagine what a national nightmare a Clinton presidency woyld represent.

It occurred to me the fairest way out of this sub-prime mess is to convert all of these loans the what ever the current fixed rate is now across the board. The past due payments can be deferred to the end of the loan with any late charges waived. Yes the banks will scream. Let them!! It was their greed that created this mess in the first place. Hopefully this would restore some immediat balance the the housing market. Some people will still lose their homes but these are the same people that would lose out anyway
