My second grader brought home fun homework this week. His class is trying to get one postcard from each state as they learn about all 50 of them.

The class is small with 15 or fewer students in it, so this should be a huge challenge for them to complete by their deadline of June 8th.

We started looking through the address book trying to find family or friends that live in other states so we could ask them for postcards... It has been refreshing contacting people that we don't normally talk to on a regular basis.

It will be fun to see if they can get one from each state!

I might have some from Florida and St. Louis laying around. We always get postcards intending on sending them, but that never seems to happen.

That's so cool Silver! What a neat assignment!
It's so fun to get mail from out of state--especially from another country. I had a pen pal in Australia, it was the coolest thing ever!
And I do that too MrsTracy . . . everytime I go on a road trip I always buy a ton and never send them! : )

Well if it is the thought that counts, we at least thought of everybody. In July we are driving to Washington DC. I can't wait. I hate flying and will do it when I have to, but Last year we drove to Florida and with the exception of the three puking kids in the car on our way to Atlanta at the end of the trip, we had a great time.

Too bad you didn't catch me in my younger years. My parents were always getting postcards from me form other states....they always told me to let them know where I was....

This has been fun contacting all the family and friends...

We have postcards coming from AZ, CA, NV, FL, CA, MN, IL, IA, MI, GA, AL, AK, and possibly NM.... not bad for just one 2nd grader....

We will keep you all posted to let you know if they get all 50 ...

Hi, I am a married mom of 6 going to college full time year round. I enjoy camping, carousels, and butterflies. I don't have nearly enough time for the things that I want to enjoy. I do find that while I don't get to blog often, I do have a few moments to read others and there have been a great many that I respect and have enjoyed and also learned from.
