There is no doubt that the McCain Campaign is in trouble.  McCain is  trailing Obama in most national polls and there have been various things cited as reasons for him trailing.

Some people have indicated that the endorsements of Obama by some prominent Republicans like General Colin Powell have cost him votes.  Others have suggested that his selection of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has alienated some potential supporters.  There are a multitude of other reasons that have been given.  But whatever the cause, he seems to be behind in most polls.

With one week left before the election, is there anything that could help McCain regain his losses?

Do you think that there are any last minute "surprises" that may change the tide of the election sometime between now and November 4?

If so, where will they come from?

What might help McCain may be what helps America itself, an honest mainstream media. Not making information available to the public can cause America to fall in the wrong direction, after all that's what really got us into the Iraq War wasn't it? Not making information on Obama public is going to have the same dangerous results.

Can you cite and document relevant information about either candidate that has not been made public? There are a multitude of media sources both so called liberal and conservative to present both sides.

But of course everything should be verified and documented by independent sources. There has been a lot of false information circulated and refuted by independent sources. Most of it has had very little to do with the issues at hand.

Getting back to the blog topic. What would you suggest that could help McCain? What could possibly happen that would turn the tide?

Maybe if the McCain camp came up with better ideas then the Obama camp. I don't really hear much on what mcCain will do for our nation and how he will do it. Obama has said many times what he will do to help this nation and how. I think McCain needs to lay it all out for the American people on how he will help. Not just say he will. I don't think there is anything though that can help the McCain camp win anymore. Time is up.

There is little or nothing that McCain can do to salvage this election- short of an all out assault with the truth about Obama. Since he and his handlers have been so weak and fearful of the reaction from the lib media, he'll lose this one going away. The libs have done a marvelous job on several fronts, from hatebushhatebush, to the massive attacks by their minions in the media, to the poisoning of the water of truth with their Kool-Aid.

At the end of the day, you just have to give credit where it is due. The libs have won this one going away. They were willing to do whatever was necessary to hurt the Republicans and GW. Get used to Obama/Pelosi/Reid running our country. They win. America loses.

Please read "not exactly but" and "black american" other political posts on here.

Dont let this nation be divided by race.

They will come from Americans taking off the blinders and voting. The media paints a pic of Obama winning, but I dont think most voters see it that way. The media hope you will get discouraged by their lies and wont go to the polls.

mscsailor, perhaps without intending to do so you brought up an important point. You suggested an "assault with the truth about Obama," but don't you think that the American voters are more interested in hearing about John McCain's detailed plans to address their concerns about the economy, unemployment, health care, etc.?

Much of the negative campaigning seems to have backfired this time around. Shouldn't a different strategy be employed?

Other than blaming all failure on the media, what would you advise the McCain camp to do? Is there anything that Bush and the administration can do to help?

1foxblog, you might be correct, but it isn't looking very likely.

I would have to disagree. B. Hussein Obama's puppeteers have had a huge negative campaign going on for years in preparation for this election. I do give full credit for a great strategy- in politics, it's not how you play the game, but whether you win or lose that counts.

Nothing. It's too late for McCain to change things. He has flip flopped, gone negative, and lost most of the respect he had six months ago.

Worse, many of his supporters are rude and obnoxious and tell the biggest lies you ever heard! Some of them are over on my blog right now bashing my post about a young soldier who died in Iraq, trying to turn his death into a political fight.

McCain will just have to hope his base is bigger than Obama's.

A quick divorce from Cindy McCain and a new running mate may help him. Other than that, he's toast.

P.S. Thank goodness McCain's days of saying "my friends" through his lying teeth are numbered.

The problem here is Obama did not choose to abide by the political campaign limitations...McCain did so he alone is limited!

Obama took it as any other celebrity type and used certain methods outside the political policies and limitations making it easier to grow as any other celebrity would by investments, purchases, open handed support donations either unknown or known, profitting and all sides of the street either legally or illegal! Since he didn't commit his campaigning to the political aspect, he allowed the open welcome wagon for being supported by anyone unnonimously, I'll scratch your back if you scratch mine kind of thing! There are alot of ties that isn't publicly revealed due to him not having to report them or show.

After all...it is very well known through the celebrity world that the more you get your face out on everything related to the public and you have unlimited funds to do it with...then it increases popularity!

What Obama's voters fail to notice is the method he has chosen and the hidden agendas and promises he made getting those hidden supporters. It also shows just how he would run this country!!! So America is a show boat of a country with a Pipe Pipper Preaching "Leader Want-to-be" behind the wheel! You get what you sow!

All the negativity & spin have dug the GOP into a foxhole from which no-one can escape. A vacuous vortex of self-destruction. Isn't it strange...ironic even-that almost 41 years to the DAY...(Oct. 26th, 1967) McCain (and this time many of his soldiers) have become prisoners of war yet again; but this time, John McCain has become a prisoner of his OWN war. Some folks never learn. Oh well~ Time for pizza! I already voted last week, so my version of trickle-down economics right now is the cheese trickling down onto my plate!

If McCain runs this Country like he runs his Campaign, We're All Doomed.. The guy has no clue, no solutions and no business running for president.. Should've chosen someone other than McCain to represent the GOP ticket..
