On march 23rd, 2007 we signed a contract between my husband and KIDS.com for them to represent my daughter.  We agreed to pay $595 for a 5 year contract. Included in that contract it states, "Kids.com LLC Agrees to provide the following services:
Arrange for a professional Photographer to create a series of poses in natural color. These photographs will be done semi annually and are made available to modeling agencies, talent agencies, casting agencies, commercial photographers, film offices and production companies, for the sole purpose of obtaining work in the advertising, television and motion picture Industry."

It also goes on to tell about the web page that will be set up and updated every six months.

Now the problem. They are gone. On their website the only office left as a contact is the one in New Jersey, so I called them and the number is no longer in service. I called the photography company that would have been doing my daughters pictures and they said that they have had parents calling them to find out what is going on. This studio has been doing pictures for KIDS. COM for about 2 and a half years. We paid out money for a service that we are not getting and I am outraged. Someone needs to do something about this, find the people and get the parents their hard earned money back. These people should go to jail. If anyone has any Ideas on what we can do please let me know!

You NEVER pay money for any kind of modeling-ever. Any modeling agency that wants you or your child is going to pay you. A very good and respectable co. is Jennifer's talent located in downtown Milwaukee. You send them pix and if they like them they will notify you. If not, your pix are sent back. I have a good friend whos daughter was approached while shopping in the make-up dept. at Walmart by a woman claiming that she was "exactly" what they were looking for in a model. She was from a local modeling agency in Milwaukee. She gave her a card and told her to call and make an appt. Well my friend ( I could kick her butt) went and plunked down a down payment for services of over $1000. They never called her again. Needless to say she was out her $$$$ but hopefully learned a lesson. All the kids that you see in Target, Kohl's and Penny's adds were chosen without the parents having to pay. They pay them. I'm sorry this happened to you. Call Jennifer's and they will give you all the info. you need. They are honest and upfront.

I was under the impression that I was paying for pictures to be taken and for them to set up a website. Atleast that is what they told me when we went there, now they are gone.

thanks lovin, thats what I am going to be doing here once I get this taken care of. Once I started doing research and got ahold of the photography studio that worked with them, they told me what happened, I sent out emails to channel 4,6, and 12 news and so far only ch. 12 contacted me. Well I told the photography studio to have all the other parents contact me so that we are all together and on the same page, my phone hasnt stopped ringing for over an hour now!

I've used Lorilins and Arelene Wilson for voiceovers before. I would sign up through them, but speak with them about your situation and see what advise they can offer you.

Legal Aide Society in Milwaukee can offer you low cost, to little Legal Advise. I have never used them, but it is my understand they are students and get experience through this organization. If I'm wrong on that, I'm sorry.

I know I know, I should just right everything at once.. sorry I'm just moving to fast.

I used Sir NSR's photos from last school year for First Stage and The Milwaukee Rep (Christmas Carol) Everyone got an audition at First Stage and he got called for The Rep, but didn't get a position.

We will be using this years school photos for the above and if they are interested GREAT and if not that's fine too - but I believe for all the hours of time and 29 performances at The Rep that would be UNpaid he should get paid. So if he is interested in acting - I'll submit the information and we will see where it goes but I will never pay anything - except the $25 fee on Lori Linns.

Lastly, someone once told me to never pay to advertise for someone else so every bag, Tshirt, jacket, polo shirt and hat we have with a logo we didn't pay for and I kinda hold that as a policy.

It is free advertising for those companies.

I now with Katrina you have to do it in writing by filling out a form and then she'll get ahold of you. I know when I had a problem with a travel agency I never even talked to her. It was all taken care of by mail. But I got my money back the same day the agency got her letter. It was FED EXED overnight!
Thanks Katrina!
