I'd like to use traffic rewards to encourage good citizenship in society......first we 'll draw up a list of desirable traits we wish our citizenry to exemplify.......and we will give out color coded license plates based upon how many of these traits the driver has applied him or herself to.....then we will establish special lanes open only to the elite citizen.....on a three lane interstate...the left land will be open to anyone with military service and a masters degree...the center lane will be open to anyone with a bachelors or associates degree and the right lane will be for the nabobs and billys.....allowing societies elite to demonstrate their superiority on a daily basis will impress upon our children the importance of education....watching their pickup driving toothless relatives sit in traffic each day for hours while their teachers and professional neighbors speed by will have a greater impact on our children than a lifetime of preaching and school reforms.....show our kids the benefits of education and they will take the lead......and cleveland will be a showplace of educational reform....a model for the declining cities everywhere

First we need to find qualified people to teach our kids.

Then we need to make sure the teachers do their jobs. The dumbing down of america is from todays teachers doing less and wanting more.

ROCK ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Experience is the best teacher.
Years ago, my oldest daughter considered not going back to college after the first year. She worked as an aide in a Nursing Home for 3 months. She was first in line back at college in Sept. Nuff said...

I would have to agree with you rickyw, but it's more then kids wanting to learn.
We see it today in youth sports, no one keeps score because someone said that feeling failure is bad for our kids.
just ask some of the kids if their parents push them to compete.
You are right about it being the persons fault for failure I didn't go to college but I didn't give up either, I could have kept running machines but I wanted more, If it wasn't for my father calling me worthless and other names I would have never needed to prove anyone wrong, you have to take negative and turn it into positive.

BTW I need a lane for my goat cart............

I actually have to bring some common sense to this because if you think of it....what would be the point to have the "not so successful" in the right lane, in a traffic jam, blocking all the exits, making everyone late. and even better still what if there is an accident all of you OH SO SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE wouldn't want to have to go into the same lane with the so called losers, as that is what is being implied.

RickyW the blog was the funniest blog I have ever read, lol. I know a guy that is named Ricky with the last name of w, however he is a retired priest and he graduated from Ohio University. I pictured everything that you wrote as if it were true. God bless and have a great day, Karl.

Ricky, I feel that when Jesus told us that it would be easier for an elephant to go through the eye of a needle than a rich person to go to heaven; he was saying that we as a society is judged not by our most successful people but by our most least successful people. That lane you are talking about in my opinion does not go to heaven my friend. God bless from Karl.

karl...i thought all it took to go to heaven was to say...jesus is just alright by me...on yer death bed....rich people could handle that
