I'm certain that anyone who has ever read one of my blogs realizes that i give little care for someone who supports a war only with his mouth.....and i think ive come up with a true test of patriotism.....our war in iraq is expected to cost us 200 billion dollars next year....and what id like to do is spread the sacrifice.....why should 150,000 of americas finest pay the only price for this war......rather than follow the bush policies of borrowing our way to victory at the cost of our grandchildren's future....the war will be paid for by a special WAR TAX.....to be divided equally amongst every man woman and child in america....and it would be collected annually on october 15.....wartax day......this years share would be 670 dollars per person....so a family of four would pay 2680 dollars in war taxes......for this year...and then as veterans returned and used their benefits that amount would be placed on the annual war tax from now until the last vet passes......im certain the hybrids and supers of the world would think twice before supporting the policies of the current administration if they were paying the bills.....instead of passing it on to the unborn....thats the real test of patriotism...not the cowards way

There have been 11 United States Senators indicted in the history of the Republic, and nine of them have been republicans.......the latest....."Uncle Ted" Stevens.......the professed KING OF PORK.....republican senator from alaska since 1968.....he has been charged with SEVEN FELONIES involving extensive home remodeling , furniture and accepting a land rover....i guess republicans dont drive jeeps.....all of this was accepted from VECO corp......you guessed it folks...a big player in the alaskan oil industry...is it little wonder our president keeps demanding that the alaskan fields be opened up...laura must want to redecorate crawford when she gets home....and its so much easier when you have big oil footing the bill and the american people suffering under 4 dollar gasoline.....stevens will go down in history with fellow republicans randy cunningham, tom foley, larry craig, tom delay, and bob nye.....maybe they can arrange for nye and stevens to be cellmates.....but this cesspool of corruption has a happy ending folks....mr. stevens is up for reelection this november.....if the party of the rich keeps up with this sort of selfinterested morality....we ll be looking at a veto proof senate....the author of the infamous bridge to nowhere just may lead america into the 21st century.....from a jail cell.....vote this november....and end the corruption....a new broom sweeps clean

The effects of the Bush Recession just keep compounding and a lame duck president sits lost in a storm of financial woe....fresh off of digesting the failure of two more banks....numbers six and seven for those not keep count....1st national of nevada and first heritage.....the bush administration released a greatly revised projection of the federal governments finances for the upcoming year......once again our president achieves what all the presidents in the history of the republic could not.....a federal debt estimated to surpass the half trillion dollar mark in a single year.....and that includes funding the bush war for only half a year.....it seems the whitehouse couldnt give an honest estimate for the iraq war because they were still waiting on a list of pentagon needs......what they really feared was that figuring in the war would raise the debt to the 2/3s of a trillion dollar level......i guess you call that republican conservatism....ignoring reality and continuing a policy of borrow and spend........incidentally....each and every american will owe $1700 of that half a trillion.....how many of us could run a household as bush runs the nation.....and keep in mind..that half a trillion is after they figure in and spend the social security surplus......decades from now scholars will point to these last eight years as the generation who did to america what world war one and two did to the british empire......and they ll blame the voters in florida and ohio.....in november vote for financial stability and someone who atleast understands the economy......america cant weather another cold warrior....lets move into the 21st century and return this great nation to the prosperity we knew before 2001....lets hope bush sees what hes done in cleveland when he visits.....

Although national unemployment rates have soared to 5.5 percent, our home has suffered the economic equivalent of hurricane katrina.......recent june unemployment statistics state that the ranks of the jobless have reached 8.1 percent in the cleveland heartland......the republican policies of borrow and spend....while cutting the taxes of the ultra-rich have seen the rate steadily increase throughout the bush administration.....from 3.6 percent when he was elected...to the aforementioned 8.1 percent.....a middle class resident of our once fair county has to walk only out the door to see boarded up homes and uncut grass.....cuyahoga county is a working mans county....a place where people only ask for a chance to prosper....a place where people raise their families and pay their taxes.....but while those taxes continue to be poured into a bottomless pit in iraq, we sink into the economic doldrums of recession....this november think locally....and vote for cuyahoga county.....lets get a candidate that wont just promise more of the same...... because look where that took us....cuyahoga county needs a change

imagine yourself over 70 years old trying to do what someone almost half your age is doing....without viagra.....and you ll feel for senator mccain.....after a triumphant tour of the war zones and europe, a confident and optimistic democratic candidate shone like a star in the night.....the mccain response......yelling "stop looking at him and look at me"....this campaign is looking more and more like the republican effort in 1996......bob dole vs the vibrant and able slayer of the first bush economy....mccain has served his country loyally and i think barracks first executive order should be to give him a ride on the space shuttle....he s earned it.....even the coldest heart in the democratic party has to feel abit of sympathy for a campaign burdened with a candidate lugging the failures we've seen for eight long years to the ballot box.....maybe a john kennedy could pull this out of the fire...unfortunately what they have is dan quayle's grandfather...democrats should begin to practice humility....it has to be a very painful experience for republicans...to come so close to controlling the supreme court......and then bet the house on a nag heading out to pasture

Well the "inexperienced" Mr. Obama has made a tour of Americas multiple war zones and has proven once again that brainpower wins over the alternative......finally America has a chance to actually roll back the war on terror.....and bring the fighting men and women home from the "bush war"....................its a well established fact that bin laden used bases in afghanistan to train his ragtag band of malcontents.....but after 911 bushs decision to use afghan surrogates to take the country  allowed the mastermind of that plot to escape....then, turning his back on the real threat to american security....afghanistan and pakistan....he rushed to send the american military machine on a bush/cheney personal mission...the invasion of iraq.......now with nato forces stretched to the breaking point in afghanistan....a renewed taliban offensive threatens ........Mr Obama"s solution?....get out of iraq and get into afghanistan.....if a single statement was ever to prove a man fit to lead the nation....that is it.....Obama in afghanistan reminded me of Jack Kennedy in berlin.....thats not orchestration....thats leadership.......mccain is content with "staying the course" and calls on his impressive service as a fighter pilot to justify his bid for the whitehouse....but you dont run a superpower from the cockpit of an f-4 phantom......we need brainpower if we are to ever rise victorious over the forces of terror in this ever changing world.........if i was osama bin laden, i wouldnt be sleeping very well as november approached....hurry november....we cant take FOUR MORE YEARS...............please notice folks i didnt cut and paste someone elses blog...i read the news and did an opinion piece on it....this is how blogging is supposed to be done....i can find out what rush has to say about it on my own....

Conservatives always criticise the media for being leftist...and as per usual they've missed the boat.  The media isnt liberal....its mindless.  I was just down at my favorite watering hole....the 250 split tavern....when channel 19 (lol) ran an opinion piece from one of its editors.  This clown called for drilling off shore and in alaska to achieve "energy self sufficiency for America".......everyone in the bar shook their over sized foreheads and mumbled....dat right....dat right.  Since it was before noon and i for one know its very difficult to get beaten senseless in the morning....i aired my opinion.    The United States requires 21 million barrels of oil a day to meet its energy needs, we presently produce 7 million and import 14 million.  The largest oil producer in the world, Saudi Arabia, presently produces 11 million barrels of oil a day......for this pipe dream to be true the new fields would have to triple the oil output of the American oil industry and just the new stuff would surpass the Saudis.....and all they had to say was...."it could happen"....the older i get the more i have to agree with Alexander Hamilton...."the common man is too limited in intellect to risk self government"......we arent going to drill ourselves out of this mess folks.....read the numbers......and i know what yer thinking...."it could happen"

I'd like to use traffic rewards to encourage good citizenship in society......first we 'll draw up a list of desirable traits we wish our citizenry to exemplify.......and we will give out color coded license plates based upon how many of these traits the driver has applied him or herself to.....then we will establish special lanes open only to the elite citizen.....on a three lane interstate...the left land will be open to anyone with military service and a masters degree...the center lane will be open to anyone with a bachelors or associates degree and the right lane will be for the nabobs and billys.....allowing societies elite to demonstrate their superiority on a daily basis will impress upon our children the importance of education....watching their pickup driving toothless relatives sit in traffic each day for hours while their teachers and professional neighbors speed by will have a greater impact on our children than a lifetime of preaching and school reforms.....show our kids the benefits of education and they will take the lead......and cleveland will be a showplace of educational reform....a model for the declining cities everywhere

leave it to the folks in california to come up with the alternative to boring sports and tuesday night bingo at st. stanislovas.....and keeping with the "simple is good" theme demanded by rising transportation costs and an economy in full fledged recession the moon over amtrack required no admission fee or expensive equipment to participate.....this kind of thinking and creativity is going to be required as the nation sinks into its most recent economic quagmire...cant we as thinking clevelanders show the same type of spunk and experimental energies that our california cousins demonstrated......how about a moon over progressive field the next time the tribe ups admission prices...or a moon over the cleveland board of education the next time our schools receive a dismal report card...or a moon over city hall the next time the law enforcement budget is cut....or a moon over the county courthouse just about anytime.....mooning involves all of our first amendment rights.....and you can do it with beer and pizza....thats our ninth amendment right ...see you at the moon.....i ll bet pablo is an excellent mooner...full moon for him

Well that was quite a week economically......we came dangerously close to a stockmarket melt down with the market officially down over 20 percent.....forget that early retirement everyone.....and the only thing that saved it was the US Treasury coming to the rescue of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae by promising a tax payer funded rescue to the tune of $15 Billion dollars......added to that the FDIC was forced to step in and seize IndyMac...the largest bank to go into default since Georges father was president....history will acknowledge our time with a new term...a Bush Economy.....unemployment continues to skyrocket surpassing the 5.5% mark and inflation hit 4.2 % in May...that means every dollar you have today will be worth 50 cents in just 17 years....like i said, forget about that early retirement that looked so promising during the Clinton years.....and still the republican candidate for president promises to continue the policies of the Bush administration.....i don't know about the nation...but im certain Ohio can't take four more years....anyone who knows their history will remember the fate of Alfred Landon in the election of 1936....lets hope history does repeat itself....Those tax cuts for the rich man don't sound like such a great idea now...do they?

the residents of one of americas most beautiful cities have come up with a plan to honor the current president of the united states.....with a one of a kind presidential memorial......and they have the signatures in hand to get it on the ballot.......for years critics havent been shy about branding george w as the "worst president in the history of the republic".....and now sanfranciscans are ready to put honors where we have only seen empty rhetoric.....the war in iraq, recession, unemployment, worthless currency, rising debt, & the housing crisis will all be left for the next administration to clean up.....and the thinking folks on our western coast have decided that they have found a mess that bush is capable of handling.....and this insightful plan was hatched in a local tavern....so the next time someone criticizes you for wasting your time drinking in the middle of  the day....explain to them that youre working on a plan for a cleveland version of the bush memorial

As the republican convention approaches the handlers are tip toeing around a very difficult problem....how does John handle George.....how will they organize the St. Paul convention and never have McCain appear with Bush.....start to ask yourself....why doesnt the president ever appear with the candidate....dont they like one another?....do their schedules conflict?.....did they have a golfing spat years ago?......the kiss of death for Mr McCain is his association with the current republican president.......so how to handle it?...historically it is handled by Mr. Popularity appearing on the first night of the convention before the candidate arrives...and then being quickly whisked away....kind of cowardly if you ask me....rather you have to wonder why Mr McCain doesnt stand with George and say....George and I are proud republicans....and I'm dedicated to giving you more of the same......let's hope anyway
