I am still a bit confused..I mean when I was young there was either democrat or republicans..now in the past 10 years or so I hear all this liberal, conservative and independent. I sort of figured out the independent BUT CAN SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN THE OTHER TWO??? thanks

RM for the most part is right but only NOW and only in the most vulgar of ways. The old (original) definitions of Lib/Con are simple ...Conservatives are for the conservative use of government (and control over how much it invades our every day life) Liberals are for the liberal application of government into every aspect of our lives MORE government is always better for a liberal outlook : higher taxes , more rules , social programs replacing free market opportunity etc...the reason we (Cons) say it with such contempt is that a “Liberal” view point is indistinguishable from a Communist view point !

I say that this description and the placing of all Americans into one or the other is “vulgar” because the actual political position of the average person is not far left (liberal) or far right (conservative) but is closer to the middle So one would think that an independent would be somewhere in the middle...unfortunately all independents (so far) are people who fall farther to the right of conservatives than Republicans or farther to the left than Democrats ! So they are extremist nuts.

A Liberal believes in GIVING a person a fish for the rest of their lives,THUS keeping them dependent and therefore maintaining a CONTROL over them..

A Conservative believes in TEACHING a person HOW to fish,,THUS freeing that person FROM dependency and making THAT person responsible,, self-sufficient with a Dignity that comes with Accomplishment and a sense of Pride in One's self..

Well the Republicans are doing a heck of a job teaching the Iraqi's democracy. I'm much more happy as a Democrat. I tried being a republican, but I couldn't stand being ignorant that long. :)
