This is just amazing,  Senator Craig has changed his mind and wants to set aside his conviction on the lewd act that HE plead guilty to.

He was caught up in a sting operation, in an airport restroom known to be a place where gays would hook up for sex, he plead to the charges and attempted to keep it quiet so no one would find out.

The conservative Republican Senator from Idaho says he is not gay, he said he was not informed as to what he plead to, and he wants a do-over, I'm assuming that the good Senator went to college and could read so, he did know what he was pleading to.

Ex-President Clinton was getting some on the side and is portrayed as a degenerate, well at least he was with a woman, and not in a airport restroom trying to play "you show me yours and I'll show you mine".

Senator get out of the closet, be a proud gay Republican!!!

ramkrm1947,

I want to preface this by saying that I personally think he is gay and was looking for a little love. However: TRY to apply a little common sense, logic and reasoning to the following.

I listened to the recording of the interrogation of Craig, (which I found to be very aggressive for the type of investigation) and still have not quite figured out exactly what he did that was lewd. He sat in a stall on the toilet, he touched his foot to the foot of the guy in the stall next to his, and he placed his hand under the edge of the stalls divider (all according to the officer). Where does the lewd act come in? I did not hear the office accuse him of anything other than casual contact in a men’s room. The officers alluded to the fact that if Craig admitted to it that there would be some type of citation and not involve court. When Craig did not admit that he was trying to pick up the cop, the cop got angry. (This is my takes from the excerpts that I heard)

Before I was married I frequented many establishments where attractive members of the opposite sex were known to “hook up for sex”. During this time I employed many different ploys in order to meet, talk to, and ultimately “hook up with” one or more of these females. Sometimes I approached them directly; sometimes I would “accidentally” brush into one at the bar, other times I would just make eye contact from afar. Granted, I was not in a bath room while I was trying to “hook up”, but the result I was hoping for was the same. I WAS TRYING TO HOOK UP! So what is it that made Craig’s activity a crime and mine n

This is apposed to the one here in Florida that actually offered money for a sex act. That is illegal.

(Continued from above)

So what is it that made Craig’s activity a crime and mine not? Was it the location (bathroom)? Was it that his intended target was the same sex? Just for the sake of argument, if the guy in the other stall had been an adult female, would the outcome had been the same? So is your problem with Craig that he is gay? Or that he is Republican?

As far as Slick Willy goes, the issue with him was not that he was cheating on Hillary (who wouldn’t). The fact that he lied under oath, which is a crime, is what he was in trouble for.

LOL! Slick Willy then was defended by the left as it didn't effect his job. Funny... now why is it Libby or Craig are not afforded the same thought process...... Barney Franks ran a gay brothel with his partner out of their home, Studs had actual sex with a page and even after being sensured, received multiple standing ovations on the floor, and was re-elected for two more terms!

Actually I have no problem with him being gay or republican (all though I have to admit, I do enjoy the republican part) I do have a problem with anyone that expects preferential treatment because of his position, so to speak.

I am in NO way condoning what the man did,but I don't see how he committed a crime. Was there any discussion of service or price for a service or sexiual favor that the officer can honestly attest to ? In this case, I wouldn't want someone in office to represent who had so LITTLE knowledge of law.

I agree with Meb452m, the undercover cop should have waited until at least a lewd act or an act of soliciting prostitution was performed. Playing footsies under the stall is riding the edge of what can be misconstrued as an accidental contact. The Senator did however plead guilty to the charges and in my mind I believe he was well aware of being caught with his pants down.

Here we go again! Why didn't the media plaster it all over the news that they were going to stage a sting operation. It should have been posted in the New York Times, all the local tv and radio stations. How dare they "trap" people and then incarcerate them for doing something they feel is against the law. As for the "do over", yeah, right. As far as my opinion is concerned, if that's what turns him on, so be it. He knew it was immoral and illegal and if he didn't, he does not belong in that cushy senate position.

If the Senator was doing his job, leave his job alone. If he broke a law, let the judicial system work it out. If he faces condemnation for his acts, let God do it.

If and when he becomes an ineffective or undesirable Senator, the voters of his state can determine whether or not to get rid of him.

The people do not list sainthood as a requirement for public office. Too many imperfect "stone throwers" out there.

I believe people in political office are and should be expected to conduct themselves to a higher standard. This is due soley to the position that they are occupy and the responsibility that they HAVE CHOSEN to BEAR ! The last that I had heard was that there were over 100 ongoing investigations into the behavior of CONGRESSMEN alone. These were divided between CRIMINAL and CIVIL cases. At the very least they set an EXTREMELY POOR EXAMPLE, esspecially for LAWMAKERS !

He got caught red-handed trying to play footsies in a public bathroom. Another sick bastard hypocrite trying to stifle his secret lifestyle while throwing stones at others....just like those priests that molest children. Now he wants to play the ignorance card?....a well educated politician that not only knows the law, but helps to make them?...Get eal
