I do not like motorcycles. My husband has a beautiful harley. I am afraid to go on it. I am not so much afraid of him driving it, we are fully insured. It's the other idiots on the road that do not watch for a motorcycle. My 20 year old son wants a bike. He wants my help in getting information for him about lessons and other items. I told him NO WAY. I will not help him with this at all. Sorry the way I feel about motorcycles insured or not.

Polecat, you got it right with mandatory insurance. I've had insurance on my bikes since I was well, many moons ago and even after moving here and hearing that it's not required, I still bought my coverage.

Problem with those crotch rockets are they're throw away bikes, like a bic lighter. No real value, low cost and serious depreciation after they hit the street. I'll admit starting out on rice grinders in my youth due to financial barriers (like a lot of riders) but the insurance hits home when you invest in a Harley.

I've said it before on here, pocket bikes were made for and belong on a track, not on the street! Still can't believe Florida's sign and drive laws either. The test I had to take for a bike was twice as intense as for my cage when I was 16. Sad to say again, youth feels immortal until they're laid down and get some road rash.

I am naturally opposed to the banning of any piece of equipment because of it's misuse. If you demonstrate such contempt for society (all of us)that you are uninsurable in a car, you need your license revoked and jail time for driving afterward. I am sick tired of hearing calls for banning this or that all the time. I can not understand the type of thinking that calls for bans and wants to let the idiots amoung us set the rules for all of the rest of us through their irresponsible and stupid behavior.Punish the individuals that cause the problem not the tools they misuse to do it with

It is unfortunate that younger drivers, cars or motorcycles, act irresponsible when driving. Personally I wish they would raise the driving age. With cell phones, and music on headphones, distract young and old drivers. I made my sons wait until they were 17 to drive and even at that they both had accidents as most do when they first start to drive. We loose a lot of teenagers, but I guess there is no answers. I remember though when the kids took drivers ed in school, it seemed like that they did not have much practice behind the wheel, that is why it is so important that the parents spend a lot of time with their children practicing the art of driving and being made aware of their surroundings and obligations as a driver. I had a friend who thought, well my child had drivers Ed, so they must be able to drive, I can't tell you how many wrecks this child had and speeding tickets.
