I was in Leesburg yesterday and saw 2.21, in Sanford its 2.42, and in Deltona, It's 2.59! That was the lowest I saw yesterday in the northern counties! Why is Volusia county so much more then Lake county? Volusia county adds a 5% tax of the overall price. All three cities I mentioned are less then 40 miles apart  I think there is something going on there. Maybe something FOX35 should look into.

It may have something to do with where they purchase their gas from and how much they get charged. Only the delivery bill can tell the truth of this story! Of course some will keep it up just to get something out of it. Its also what the owner desided as well and who owns the station and store!

Less than .40 difference, hardly gouging, certainly not newsworthy.

FYI, Volusia County has its own special form of "gas gouging." It's called The Volusia County Council." Years ago, they voted "YES" to a nickle-a-gallon gas tax, add that to Volusia County's sales tax, bend over, and they'll kick your BLEEP! (Including mine, cause I live here!)

I filled up in deltona Sunday cause it was for once cheaper for once that it ussally was in NW orange county. I payed 2.60 in deltona and the station that were ussally 10 cents cheaper here were from 10 to 20 cents more.. Doesn't really make sense to me, but who knows.

The 3 cities you named are in 3 differing counties .So you have a federal gas tax ,a federal road tax,a state gas tax , a state road tax,a county gas tax,a county road tax .And Florida unlike many states does not regulate sales tax,[used to at 4%] but lets each county set its own.So therefore the desparity in prices.Hope this helps you under stand

And if it's a franchise it may be set regionally or by area, municipally or county ,orbased on market research.

I spoke to my father about this, my parents use to run a gas satation in sanford on french(17-92), and he told me kinda how it works. Say they pay $2.14 for the gas that is being loaded. that $2.14 aready includes the state tax. The county adds on top of that another percentage, anywhere from no county tax to 12% in some florida counties. Then the station adds on what should be a small amount (5 to 10 cents a gallon). So in some places you might be paying $2.19 for the same gas as you might be paying $2.69 in other counties. What dumbfounds me is why is one racetrac in Sanford @2.54 (like today) and the race trac in Orange City is %2.53 (Like today as well). The time travel between the two is less then ten minutes as I was going to the Halloween stores to get ready for a party to find the deals.

I'm not really sure what the name of the streets are, but if your coming north out of Orlando. it's the first I-4 exit hand a left at the that exit 2nd light the left lane merges into a single lane.. Then you go 3 lights down.. I think it's right at the light after the roller skating rink (the pink building) The Hess on the corner there and theres a strip mall there. After the light theres a high school. Then you get to the houses with some nice sized yards the mother in law live right there so I am forced to stop rather than keep going.. Doyle road I think????

I was Born in Burlington Iowa in Feb of 1986. I moved to Florida in 1992 and have been in the same town sence. I graduated from Pine Ridge High School in 2004. In High School, I found two passions. I fell in love with TV. Not, just the TV, but the idea to be on and make TV. I want to be a director. I go to the University of Central Florida. My other love that I came across at Pine Ridge High School is my future wife, Elizabeth. She is the sun in my day and the moon in my night. She is my best friend and the only woman on Earth that I ever want to be with. I grew up a NASCAR fan and it started two months after I was born when future NASCAR star Ernie Irvan was holding me at a local dirt track. The drivers I follow now are Jeremy Mayfield, Denny Hamlin, David Ragan, Jeff Burton, Tony Stewart, Casey Mears, Scott Riggs, Kyle Busch, Carl Edwards, Bobby Labonte, Clint Bowyer, Kurt Busch, Juan Pablo Montoya, Dave Blaney, Jamie McMurry, Scott Wimmer, Reed Sorenson, and A.J Allmindinger. I Think Dale Earnhardt Jr. is over rated. And I know Jeff Gordon isn't a fan friendly driver. My heros are Richard Petty, Ryan Cooper (The firefighter who ran into the Sanford houses in 2007) and Fireball Roberts. I also fell into the typical sports like football and baseball. I root for the Tampa Bay Bucs for the NFL season and for MLB I follow the Boston Red Sox. I Currently work at Lowe's in Orange City and love my job there as a Outside power equipment Associate. I'm treated well and the job is nice and relaxing. I plan on getting married really soon to Elizabeth. We set a date for March 6th 2010!!!!!
