Global Warming Is A Hoax! Repeat three times.

The government should enforce laws that discourage abuse in the health care industry and encourage fair competition. The function of government is to protect, not micro-manage. Down the road, as corporations are released from their health insurance requirement, they have the freedom to be more competitive with salaries.

McCain's private health insurance policy is good because it:

-- Encourages more competition by allowing interstate policies.
-- Encourages more affordable policies because of increased competition.
-- Returns the responsibility of providing health care to the family where it belongs.
-- Allows families to make choices based on their specific needs and preferences.
-- Allows families to maintain policies for a lifetime rather than from job-to-job and worrying about pre-existing conditions.
-- Provides a significant $5000 tax incentive to offsets the price of private plans.

Federal employees have a variety of health insurance options that vary with different classes of employees (such as postal workers). The Democrats want 300 million Americans, legal, and illegal immigrants to come into that system. There is already to much abuse, waste, and too many limitations in that system. It might be nice now but adding four times as many people would ruin it.

Exactly right pJ. In addition with everyone on the fed plan we then all become prisoners to their rules and pricing.

I had coverage under the Fed gov plans for years. You have access to what they want, of course, and you make changes when they say you can change. The choices were not the same across the board. People should not think there won't be tiers of different access for special groups. There are currently at least two different pay scales for federal employees. People should not think that nationalized health care means the same high quality for everybody. It won't. This will never be about sameness or equal distribution.

Lobbyist have been getting their way with Congress for a long time. I think we have Congress to blame for the problems in health care. Everybody going under the same scalpel is not the solution. Our lazy congress doesn't want to work to untangle the mess they created. They just starting a new pile of problems.

A friend of mine just bought into an H.S.A account. for health ins. We have been talking about it for several months. So far, an H.S.A sounds like the best way to go.
You put pre-tax dollars into a Health Services Account and the government matches you dollar for dollar. The account issues you a ATM card to be used at the doctors office, drug store and the hospital.
With an HSA the doctors give you a lower price for services because they don't have to go through an ins. co. to get their money!!
It's the same for the drug store and the hospital.
My friend just went in for her yearly well womans check up. the dr. office visit only costs $68. she had a mamagram and a pap. that only came to $125 for both tests.
As soon as I can afford it I will be getting the same for our family!!

Just imagine, that same exam is probably being billed to insurance companies for $500. I know someone too on the HSA, but I think it's called a health savings account. I will be checking it out as well. Way better than waiting in a government office to straighten out the poor service you received.

Several years ago there was special about a medical practice in New England that did not take medical insurance. They worked out a business model that allowed them to lower their costs to their clients who could then pay cash.

My favorite physician here does not take insurance at all, he just charges a fair price and he's great with preventive care. Blue Cross Blue Shield was my other favorite, and they offer decent rates to self-employed individuals and families.

I think the quality of care and the cost will improve when the government stops supporting wasteful middle men and the enormous overhead.

14 million Illegal citizens... I agree that they should not get ANY govt assistance for med. cost but that leaves 286 million Americans that would be given health care that are in CRITICAL need but can't afford it and are turned down for the govt. ins. 10 dollars an hour is too much to qualify for govt insurance. you cannot provide ins. for a family in todays society for 10 dollars an hour. My family has blus cross blue shield but that is after YEARS of experience in my field before I was capible of making enough money to provide insurance and support my family. 14 million is complete B.S. and they deservenothing for giving NOTHING but what about the other 286 million out of 300???

McCains plan for health insurance???? If you get $5,000 from the govt in taxes are you gonna spend it on insurance??? Most people who can't afford ins., already have too many other debts to pay for ins.! He is trying to buy his Presidency with 5,000 dollars. doesn't anyone remember him getting arrested for laundering money... HE HAD GOLDEN PIPES IN HIS HOUSE... but he snitched on his buddies to wipe his record clean... I remember it happening in the mid 90's but all charges were dropped... WHY??? because he snitched on all his buddies just like he broke in vietnam and talked when so many others died a torturous dibilitating death for not alking, yet he is alive and well... Do I trust him, NO and never will. No more oil criminals in office

If Americans already have too much debt to pay for insurance, how are they going to handle a major increase in taxes plus crappy government health care that they can't get out of because Congress boxed them in. You forget, with Obama eventually Americans will have no choice for health care providers. It's will all be nationalized. Thinking people would rather have a $5K tax credit than the same amount in extra taxes. If a person doesn't want to buy health care with the extra, that's their choice, at least they have one. No more nanny government.

actually 90% of Americans will not see a tax raise only the people making $250,000 per year. under McBush... I mean McCain, he is giving these same people even more tax breaks... guess what.. the govt. needs that money coming in and where do you think it is going to come from. I work anywhere from 50-60 hours a week and gross over 1,300 per week and big brother takes about 200-300 out of each check. buncha B.S. Obama is raising taxes on these rich people so the average American can afford to pay their morgages and rent, ect... If it weren't for the Bush, McCain way of thinking, we would not be in this mess right now. Why do you Reps always have to say something rude like "Thinking People would rather, blah blah blah" I guess because I won't vote for another little rich kid who has never had to worry about bills not getting paid or stretching out a paycheck. He could never understand what the average American goes through each week, how can you trust him to know whats best for you???

"actually 90% of Americans will not see a tax raise...Obama is raising taxes on these rich people"

First of all the Obama camp lowered the tax threshold to $200K and now $150K for an individual. God help you if you ever move up the ladder. You are lucky that you're only missing $300 per check. When Obama ends the current tax cut, you will instantly move to a 30%-33% tax bracket which means roughly $433 will come out of your check per week.

If you are consistently putting in 60 hrs and pulling in $1300/wk, it's very likely are working for yourself or a small business which is not paying you overtime. If so, that will stop when Obama clamps down on the bosses intake. If you are working for a rich corporation, whoa! Obama really has it in for those "rich" people, so again forget the extra income, you'll just be working your butt off until you vote him out of office in four years.

balonipony30, I say "thinking people" because Obama supporters regard EVERYTHING he says as gospel. You do not scrutinize his claims. By contrast conservative voters, know McCain is a liability, but they consider Obama an even bigger and more dangerous liability. McCain can keep the $5000 tax break! I just want somebody to put a plug in government spending. BTW, the government does not need that money. They NEED to stop spending and stop trying to control everyday life. No amount of money in the world will make our government good at that.

No, I don't think Obama supporters scrutinize his logic. Take for example the term "taxing the rich." That is the biggest fallacy out there. Do you know anything about cash flow for the rich? They don't take everything as income then send Uncle Sam a W-2! There are 100 different ways to get a rolex and a Maserati. Corporate taxes can go up and it still wouldn't make much of a difference to "those rich people". The "rich" understand the concept of a tax write-off. Most middle class people do not. And Obama knows that his crazy rhetoric is designed to fire up an uninformed middle class while the truly rich don't give a hoot. As long as he can stir up your emotions he can get what he wants. The rich can spend and not get taxed, you can't. Except the middle class could do the same thing, but, by design, they are too poorly educated about the big picture. Thank liberals for that.
