Our modern Thanksgiving has its origins in two very old and very different holidays: the harvest home feast and the formal day of thanksgiving proclaimed by church or government authorities in gratitude for a particular event, such as a military victory. Very few days of thanksgiving coincided with harvest celebrations. Thanksgiving Day began in Plymouth Colony in 1621, when the Pilgrims gave thanks for their survival and a good first crop. In 1863, President Abraham Lincoln set aside the last Thursday in November for a national celebration of Thanksgiving. Pattie, You are such a trip! (No pun intended about the bathroom-LMLAO!)
I am, as I am every year so grateful to have my parents with me (us) another year. My family means the world to me! We usually all gather here
at my house and have a big feast. This year is going to be especially exciting, because it'll be my first Grandbaby's FIRST Thanksgiving! And since he's eating practically everything we do now, he can join in the feast, too!
Di, You and Pattie are BOTH Sweethearts!
((((((Hugs)))))))
