Muslim passengers want airline settlement

WASHINGTON, Dec. 11 (UPI) -- Five of six Muslim imams who were taken off a US Airways flight in Minneapolis last month want an out-of-court settlement from the airline for the ordeal.

After the Nov. 28 incident, the airline offered to meet with the group of clerics Dec. 4, but the men declined and instead sought legal help from the Council on American-Islamic Relations in Washington (CAIR).

"With the hopes of reaching an amicable resolution to this matter, we would like to take this opportunity to ask for a formal meeting with US Airways executives and legal counsel," Arsalan Iftikhar, CAIR's national legal director, wrote to the airline.

There are conflicting reports of what happened after security agents escorted the men off the plane based on other passengers' complaints of suspicious activity, the Washington Times said Monday.

CAIR claims the men were handcuffed for several hours, but one of the imams told the Times he was only handcuffed for "10 or 15 minutes" and that the imams were not led off the plane in handcuffs.

An airline spokeswoman said the meeting request was received, but a date has not been set.

You unfortunately have the "face" of our enemy, so you WILL be subjected to closer observation and monitoring by the CITIZENS of the country that people of YOUR RACE/RELIGION attacked.

As Imams, you of all people should be the ones shouting to the heavens how you CONDEMN those that do such things in the name of your religion. But no, you are silent. You make one or two statements when it will save your hides or you're under pressure, but that's all.

You will find no sympathy here!

Everyone wants an apology. Mel Gibson was asked to apologize, the hecklers demanded that 'Kramer' apologize, now these religious jokes, pushing tolerance TOO FAR in a time of war want an apology. What a bunch of CRAP. I want an apology from FOX35 for dismissing core users as just dumb hacks.

No sympathy from me, either! They don't even belong here in the first place! If it looks like a pig, and it smells like a pig, and it walks like a pig, and it sounds like a pig, it's probably a PIG! Get out and stay out of our country, ALL stinking, slinking, Muslims!

They were up to something to begin with. The airline should not appologize for taking the care and safety of it's passengers seriously. They did not sit in their assigned seats. I've flown quite a few times in my life and never once did I not sit where I was assigned. These guys are no larger around than me and three of them asked for seatbelt extentions. Why?!? What would a person of normal size need with a seatbelt extention? Those butt-heads were up to something. There is no doubt in my mind. The airline acted approperately. I've even taken the time to write them and thank them for putting customer safety above political correctness. I sure wish they'd stick to their guns.

Sammy_D - I'm not sure what you're saying here... I believe the airline has apologized for inconveniencing them, but that isn't good enough for these people. They want to "make an example" of the airline. They were acting suspicious. The passengers noticed and felt fearful. Just because they didn't have bombs strapped to their chests doesn't mean they weren't up to no good!

Get real!

And get vigilant!

An apology, maybe a free flight ticket... that's the MOST that they deserve!

They were acting suspicious. They knew they were. The people and airline did the right thing. They don't even deserve an apology. They deserve a kick in the pants out of our beauitiful country!

It has NOW come to light that these five IMAMS INTENTIONALLY engaged in activities to PROVOKE a confrontation for the purpose of "EXPOSING" the alledged practice of PROFILING of Moslems..
They don't NEED to be apoligised to, they NEED to be arrested and charged..

I do not think they should apologize they are doing what they think is best. Unfortunately we can not tell the difference. I woudl rateh they removed them if they any doubts rather than blow up in the air.
