Today I heard that their is a proposel to pass a law that would offer second mortages to people who have sub-prime loans and are indanger of being foreclosed on. Is this in the best inrest of the state of Wisconsin to get into the loan industry? If these people can't afford the mortage they have now, what makes these lawmakers think they can afford a new loan. And if these people default on this state backed loan, then why should the people of Wisconsin be on the hook for their mortage? If you can't afford the home you purchase sell it and buy something you can afford or rent.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (peta) has started an anti-fishing campaign targeting newspapers, national parks, and The Boy Scouts. One ad shows a dog with a large fish hook in it's lip and a line that states " IF YOU WOULDN'T DO THIS TO A DOG, WHY DO IT TO A FISH ". They have sent a letter to the Milton H. Ward the president of the Boy Scouts, stating that fishing is hunting in water and it is inconsistent with boy scout law, not to hurt or kill harmless things without reason. They also have a comic book called YOUR DADDY KILLS ANIMALS, It shows a whacked guy in a suit gutting a fish with blood dripping, well I hope you get the picture. This comic book has been used by teachers who belong to peta and handed it out to kids in grades K-12. I find this campaign to be repulsive and disgusting. If peta wants to get it's message out I think they should do it in a way that dosen't overstate the issue. A comic book with a whacked out guy in a suit gutting fish is a bit over the top.

Wisconsin is one of 12 states that has no death penalty. I have heard the arguements on both sides as why we should and why we shouldn't have a death penalty. In Wisconsin it costs about 20,000 a year to house an inmate for life. That figure covers the inmates food, housing, cloths, education etc. To house an inmate on death row it costs about 90,000 a year more due to appeals and added court costs. In Californa over a 27 year period 11 executions cost the state 250 million dollars or about 22.72 million per execution. If cost is the factor that we have no death penalty in Wisconsin, then I believe these costs can be reduced by limiting the number of appeals an inmate is allowed. Maybe it's about we rethink the death penalty. If a person has a right toa speedy trial, then why not a speedy execution if found guilty by 12 peers.

For some time I have wondered if others have had the problem with doctors as I have and a few of my friends. The problem is not the medical treatment but the arrogance that they the doctors seem to have towards us the Patient. Due to my medical insurence I am limited to where I can seek treatment. So i"m stuck with whom I happen to get on that day. Some of these doctors act as if they are doing me a favor by seeing me. Recently I was in need of a doctor, I had x-rays taken before I was placed in an exam room and the x-rays where taken in with me. I forgot to say I was the only one in the doctors office at that time. I was placed in an exam room the came in talked to me for 5 mins. and left to read the x-rays. 1 1/2 hrs. later I left seeing the doctor reading a magazine instead of the x-rays. She asked if I had the Xrays with me I told her no that they were here with her all this time. She acted as if it was my fault that she didn't do her job. I look at doctors just like I look at the guy who changes my oil. They both have a job to do they both get paid for their service. So why do doctors act as if they are better then the rest of us? When I go to the doctor I figure they are working for me, just like the guy who changes my oil. Should I expect more from the oil change guy then doctor?

Al Gore was before the House this morning to push action to help prevent Global Warming. The earths temperature has risen about 1 degree in the last 100yrs. The earth is about 4.57 billion yrs old and we have kept weather records for about 100 yrs. or so. Please explain to me how this rise in temperature is a call for alarm about global warming. The earth was formed thru a series of wind, rain, heat, and cold. Volcanos erupted and sent gases into the air that contained water, carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, hydrogen chloride, and hydrogen fluoride. Even today these gases are released before, after and during an eruption. Do fossil fuels pollute, sure ,but to what point? I'm all for clean air and water, but I'm not an alarmist that believes the world is doomed if we don't change our ways like Al Gore. Something about the agruement Al Gore and his believers put forth just don't make sense.

Being new to blogging (2/2007) I had a thought that this would be a sounding board for opinions, questions and remarks. Has it now turned into a cheap form of advertisement for companys like Sungel? How dose their blog relate to news, sports or entertainment? I guess you could argue that it free speech, but Fox6 charges money for the right to advertise on TV and to me this an extension of their news network. The other day a blogger complained that her books were taken off the shelves at a book store in the Milwaukee area. I did respond to the blog, but now I wonder if it was a ploy to increase sales of the books. Since I started blogging I have felt that this was a great way for the masses to get their point of view out to others who are like or unlike minded. And to open lines of communication to talk about issues and problems that affect us here at home and around the world. I hope it stays as a sounding board for us the people and not a cheap form of advertisemnet for companys.

Who's voting for Sanjaya and the bald guy Phil(i think)? I've been an idol fan from day one and if Sanjaya is still here next week I think I will have to stop watching. Sure he's a young good looking guy but he can't sing. This is a singing competion isn't it? Sabrinna was voted off and she had a great voice. At times I think a fix is in just to stir things up, could I be wrong?

On the radio this morning Steven Avery"s lawyer stated that, since 1985 Avery has not been able to get the help he has needed. I would like to know what help he needed? He had been wrongfully convicted of a rape, and that was over turned, I guess he received help with that. And according to the news he had help in this case ( his nephew). What help was he seeking? His mental health didn't seem to be an issue, if it was,the defense should have been due to his mental defect. I guess I do feel for Mr. Avery, sorrow for the familiys affected, anger towards him for what he had done, an rage because he did not seek the help he needed.

Senator Cogs wants a law passed that if a person sells a gun to a felon and that gun is used to commit a crime the person selling the gun can face 10 years in prison and a25,000 fine. This law would affect the city of Milwaukee to start with. This law could turn law abiding citizens into law breakers, If they do not do back ground checks on the people they sell guns to. This law affects private sales only. Sen. Cogs believes this is a way to get guns off the streets and out of the hands of felons. To that I say maybe if we kept the felons in prison for the max amount of time allowed, drop the three strikes and your out (in) to two strikes and put guns in the hands of law abiding people who are licensed, and trained and have had a back ground check done. we could level the playing field. I agree with SEN. COGS that something needs to be done butthis could turn the good guys into bad guys.

Senator Jeff Plale And Rep. Jeff Stone want to pass a bill that would rid us of emission's testing in Wisconsin. The money ($13 million a year) which was used for the testing, would then fund a light rail system running from Kenosha to Milwaukee. This would cost about $10million a year to operate. These figures were report on the radio this morning. The problem I would have with this is what do you do once you get to your location? And would it take more cars off the road? I know that I wouldn't take a train to Kenosha it is about a 30 minute drive for me . I can see how this might help people who are unemployed in the Racine and Kenosha and Milwaukee areas and give them another avenue for empolyment. Another good point is this money is money that the state has and tax's would not haved to be raised to fund the light rail system. Also this would be away to see if light rail could work and no extra cost to us.

I wrote a post on this topic earlier today but i guess I didn't send it so here goes again. I am wondering when we lost this thing called personal responsibility. We blame McD's for being fat, gas companys for bad air, tobacco companys for health problems and so on and so on. And when all else fails we then look to the goverment to bail us out for our bad choices. Please note I said bad choices not wrong chocies. I have often wondered what we did before we had goverment programs to feed, cloth, heal us? I am not a history buff but I do know that there was a time when we had to depend on ourselves for our everyday exsistence. I do realize that times have changed and our world as we know it has grown smaller with the advancements in transportation, communication. But how does it change the simple fact we need to take personal responsibility for our choices? Do I need $200 jeans when I can cover my butt with $15.00 ones, do i eat at McD's when I can with a little effort go to the store and buy more healthier food, I can walk to the drug store thats is 3blks. away instead of driving my car. I don't see how placing Blame on Big Companys, and Goverment for our bad choices is right. We choose do the things that affect us smoking, drugs, driving carsand eating at fast food joints. No one forces us to them we make a personal choice to do them. We don't need to have the goverment to save us from ourselves or big companys. We need to take PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY for our own actions

I believe it was yesterday I saw clip about a food program in the MPS. The school had a box breakfast brought in, it contained packaged cereal , cookies and came with milk. The clip stated that the kids had about 15 mins. to eat and then the left over food was collected and tossed out. i have two problems with this ,1 why only 15 mins. to eat i have kids and it takes them that long to decide onwhat to eat, and 2 why throw out packaged unopened food? The clip said this MAY be the only chance for a good breakfast these kids might have . So let them eat. we will leave the schools open for basketball games, volleyball games and such, but these kids can't have a school opened long enough for them to enjoy what may be the best meal they recieve all day? As far as the unopened food why not collect it and give it to the kids as a snack at break time? Don't waste food that could be used to feed those who have little.

Over the past few weeks I have heard that McDonalds,Burger King, Culvers etc, are one of the leading causes of childhood obesity and obesity in adults as well . No doubt that fast food is high in fat , and we alll could do with less of that, but how can restaurant be the cause of obesity? I smoke is it the fault of the gas station owners were I buy the cigarettes from if I get cancer? Or maybe the Tabacco Farmers? Unless you live in a restaurant and that is the only means of eating, then there is no one to blame for obesity except the people who choose to eat there. Can anyone say Personal Responsibility?

This past week end a friend ask me what I know about the new HY-Bred Cars (hi-bred?). I laughed at first ( Ilove my big SUV"S). I have read the price of the cars out weigh the cost savings of the fuel savings. I also heard that the batterys can cost up $3000 after about 3-5 years when they need to be replaced. Would anyone have any more info on this? I would be intrested.
P.S. I heard yesterday that someone wants to add $25-$35 to my SUV Plates and give this money to people who own these HY-Bred Cars

I live in the city of Milwaukee near the Greenfeid city limit. I Noticed today that thier is a strip of sidewalk that is not cleared of snow on S 76 St. It runs from about Howard north to about Morgan. Is this the city responsibility to clear this or the home owner? The reason I ask Is a few years ago I was given a wraning to remove the snow from my walk or face a fine. I was out of town at the time and didn't have some one do my sidewalk. So who is responisible to remove the snow?
