I used to take it for granted that once the gas prices started to rise they would fall back to $2 a gallon and there they would stay. Now at $3.21 and rising and with the President not knowing or "acting" as though he did not know the price is concerning.
Unfortunately, along with many others for me to keep working I had to take a pay cut. I could not find another job because "everyone" are either not hiring or are laying off.
We take a look to Spring and realize that there will be around a $.65 increase because of an additive. $4 a gallon.
I can no longer afford to drive. Public transportation does not go to my place of employment. I also know over the years SEPTA has cut routes and made it harder to get around. This has to be true in other areas of the country.
We need real help either in the form of better gas mileage cars or alternative fuel source for our current vehicles. Not in 10 years but in the next 90 days.
Cutting services and raising fares. I have been in other cities and the transit department is very reasonable and you get where you want to go with little difficulty.
We need a transit system that is friendly and efficient in getting us to where we need to go. SEPTA is not accomplishing this.
Let the State or City run public transportation. It woks in other large cities and we should be able to make it work here.
