Looks like flaky fabian nunez is at his crafty trickery again. He is trying to play up teacher layoffs - when in fact it is not true.  Schools are down in enrollment and only non-necessary jobs may be eliminated. Another fact they have been able to hide for quite sometime - did you know they have been collecting $1.8 billion (wit a B) per year, in taxes for school bussing for desegregation, which was outlawed years ago. That money has been going into administration costs for - get this - Oakland, San Francisco, and some L.A. schools. We all know how overpaid administration is, but $1.8 billion??? How long are we going to sit back and let them manipulate  us , thinking we won't speak up ?  They ( the dems) are, right now, trying to pass several laws to raise taxes by putting different names on them.  Each of you need to look up your representative right now  and give a call or an e-mail and tell them - "Hell, no!! No more bull crap taxes!!" Tell them you know they're up to evil tricks to take California even further down the sewer!! nunez and perata and the likes, are just still pissed off that we voted for Prop 93 that is putting them out of office (thank God), and they are trying to do as much evil as they can before they're gone! CALL THEM NOW!!!!

Olgrama I hear you.
I'm so tired of so many politicians abusing their power and using their office for personal gain.

Years ago, I did several investigative reports on local politicians wasting our tax dollars.
After a long review of their expenses (not without a long and legal fight), it was crystal clear that many of these lawmakers were (and I'm sure still are) bleeding the system dry. The findings: Exotic getaways to the Caribbean Islands, trips to Disneyland, the Cannes Film Festival, thousands of dollars on flower arrangements sent to friends and supporters..thousands more spent on lavish dinners at swank restaurants and some even expensed their wardrobes. Who paid for all this? We did---the taxpayers!! When I confronted these politicians on their extravagant spending...their response was "HOW DARE YOU QUESTION US!!" I got nothing but attitude and was told I would have "a horrible time getting an interview" the next time I was doing a story on politics. I didn't really care to make enemies in high places...-I guess I was hopeful that our viewers would be outraged and write to the politicians--maybe organize a movement to vote them out of office. NOTHING HAPPENED. We all complain about these lawmakers but when it comes down to it, we're all to blame for not doing something to change their evil ways.

Df, my Point EXACTLY, they are democrats! But is there really a difference anymore? Corrupt is corrupt is corrupt!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Gina, how horrible to be made hostage by those crooks, threatening you with no more interviews! The letters we do write never get to be seen by the BLEEP in office - some lowly "intern" is reading the mail and sending back some "pre-recorded" standard form letter! And until we can get the re-districting through, I doubt we will see a change in any of the seats - I'm just very happy prop 93 passed- at least we will get rid of a couple of the biggest dregs in Sacramento! I don't think that it's that we are not trying to do something, it's just that they are so corrupt, they feel they hold all the cards and can do as they please, which is what they have been doing, and doing. We definitely need to pass a law that restricts what those BLEEP can be paid! Then see how fast they all bail out!!!
That’s horrible. And here I was willing to pay an extra $100 a year in taxes for education. unbelievable. Have they no shame? And Gina’s right writing about it and complaining doesn’t accomplish a damn thing. Maybe all us parents should unite and keep our kids home for a week. In every city and every school. That’ll get their attention. My son’s open house was today and the teachers got their notices of being fired of laid off. They where standing outside the school holding signs in protest. I doubt anyone cared. It’s sickening. Our children are the ones who are most affected by all this, you’d think that as parents we’d care.
dasvics, I'm surprised that your teachers already received lay-off letters - those were not even to be mailed until yesterday and had to be received by March 15th....that is according to a congressman I thought I could believe ( I guess that's an oxymoron-ya just can't believe any of 'em). I do believe that as parents and grandparents we DO care, but how the hell can we change anything with the bureaucratic BS that they keep pushing at us? They know we are helpless to their evil tricks! But, ya know what I'm gonna keep writing and writing til they come haul my old butt to the slammer! We still have freedom of speech.....don't we???? God, did I miss that one and they have taken that one away too! I wouldn't be surprised! I like your idea of keeping ALL the kids home for a week, but you know we could never get 100% of the apathetic whiners to try anything to benefit the whole. Hang in there dasvics, maybe if we keep sending our message out there eventually some change may happen.....write and call - every week til they take our phones and pencils away! ha ha
Schools are down because many of the kids from illegals don't want an education. Their family values come mainly from the lower classes and many drop out of school, or end up becoming little terrorists as gang bangers. Latinos who do stay in school traditionally do pretty well. Schools have also become miniature battlefields too. Instead of the old bully fist fight it is now the bully gun and knife fights so there is a race to leave the schools as they are failing across the board. Our schools have more bond monies now then ever that were voted yet the corrupted State and city have pissed it away on everything except the schools, teachers, books, pencils, ac for the summer class rooms and of course the students.
many parents are doing home school as an alternative to over crowded unsafe schools and you cant blame them as this town has become a total cesspool of uneducated illegal immigrants who hold everyone back by not speaking the language and bringing in a third world subculture that is destroying this city like a cancer..
Did you know that in order to LEGALLY homeschool your children you have to have a teaching degree?
Which is a shame because I'd love to see these millions of illegal invaders homeschool their children (in flipping burgers) without state funding of course. Take their anchor babies out of OUR SCHOOLS so that OUR CHILDREN can learn.
Hi Olgrama, yes they did. I don't know how they where notified, but one of the teachers being let go is my son's fourth grade teacher. She's so upset. I felt horrible. From what I understand it wont go into effect until the end of the school year, but my son's class was already crowded, so I fear it'll get worse next year.
I have three children in school, two teen girls in High School and a son in Elementary, so as you can imagine, I support teachers and would pay more in taxes to help our schools if I had to.
But not so that the greedy politicians spend that money on personal things. I should clarify that.
And I hope Gina knows how grateful I am for the stories of importance she brings us, it’s too bad more of us don’t write to these unscrupulous politicians, or protest or something, when we find out the things they do. Thanks Gina, and to all the other reporters that bring important stories to our attention. Now if only we’d do more to help our city’s and get rid of dirty politicians.
And one more thing…..we should never allow anyone to intimidate a reporter from telling us a story, that is just wrong. Shame on those politicians. But it must be so easy for them to walk all over us when they see us divided and arguing amongst ourselves.
Hi dasvics, I'm sorry to hear your son's teacher got her notice, however it's not a done deal yet. A few years ago they tried the same scare tactics and said about 3,000 teachers would be let go...when it came to actual numbers about 500 lost their jobs and most of that was due to low enrollment. There are so many "back room deals" going on just to try and scare us in to believing their BS so we won't bother them with letters and calls! Look at the crap villar (raigosa)is spouting now-about cutting, cutting, cutting and raising more taxes! What an @ss! The best cut they could make would be get rid of HIM! How does he do his job anyway? His plastic face is at every ribbon cutting, every funeral, even filling pot holes!! I can't stand the sight of him and his lecherous, evil smile. I heard a secret - so don't tell....but rumor has it he is lousy in bed! ha ha ha his nick name is even funnier!!!
Have a great day!
I wonder why more people don't bring up the fact that Fabian was an "illegal alien" not so long ago and somehow shot his way straight to the top without ANY CREDENTIALS whatsoever.
Just like Mayor Tony Villa (yeah, his REAL NAME) who attended an unaccredited law school "People's School of Law?" and flunked the bar exam seven times.
Yet despite the fact that Britney Spears surpasses both of them in brainpower their lack of qualifications are apparently good enough to fill the most powerful positions in California's government. Could it be because their HISPANIC?
Tooooo funny, 10 minutes after being sworn in, David Patterson (Eliot Spitzers replacement) admits that he's cheated on his wife repeatedly.
Is there something in the drinking water that makes ALL DEMOCRATS cheat? And if they cheat on their wives why wouldn't we expect them to cheat on their country?
I'd like to say I'm enjoying my golden years and lovin' being a Grandma, however that would only be a partial truth, as these golden years are quickly tarnishing with the shape the country is in. I do love being a Grandma, however I worry daily about what will happen in their future. I will try to stay positive for them and keep them as safe as possible and strive for their happiness. It's nice to know there are still people out there that can think on their feet and have the sense to know something evil is going on, this blog is my salvation....I was beginning to think I was a nut with my thoughts-glad to know you're out there.
