It was very sad to see Montel sign off for the last time today. I have a great deal of respect for him and I think a lot of people do. He has preached personal responsibility; opened peoples eyes to political, social, and personal problems. He has shown us the face of human perseverance through tragedy. Sure he also had a bit of fun with less relevant topics but for the most part, his show has been a beacon of information. I must say I'll miss not seeing a new episode of the show on a daily bases.

If it seems like his announcement for the shows end was abrupt, it's because it was. Before I go on lets get the facts clear, CBS Distribution canceled the show after multiple major market Fox stations decided not to renew his contract for the 2008-2009 season. There has been speculation as to why his show is going off the air so suddenly. The most popular one has to do with his appearance on Fox & Friends, January 30, 2008. He was brought on to talk about the tragic death of actor Heath Ledger. When he was asked for his thoughts he turned the table of them and instead talked about how ridiculous it is for them and other news programs to cover the tragic death of this young man and not even mention the fact that approximately 28 men and women had died that month so far in Iraq and not one mention of a name. The very people who fight for us and do their job so that we all can sit here starring into our computer screens get a 5 second slot of "15 soldiers died today in a tragic road side bombing in Iraq" yet they spend half the news cast talking about Heath's death? Whether you think the wars are right or wrong is completely irrelevant, these soldiers put their asses on the line for us.... all of US, and that demands respect. Period.

I think this theory makes tons of sense. A sudden announcement of the ending of his show after this event on Fox & Friends, I highly doubt its a coincidence. Montel is one of the highest rated shows on TV, why would they cancel a high rated show? Right? So all I have to say to the Fox stations who made this possible is F you. F you for doing a disservice to the American people by continuing to make the tragedy's happening in the Middle East a 5-10 second snippet on your broadcasts, F you for canceling Montel for speaking truth to power, and F you for keeping the American people blind. I don't want any of the news casters or web people to think I'm talking about them, I know you guys don't get to choose what goes on the air and what doesn't. I'm talking to the wannabe producers in the back making all the decisions to put crap on the program instead of substance.

I wish Montel the very best and I hope he doesn't go away. I look forward to seeing what he does in the future. Thank you Montel for everything, for the laughs, the tears, and most of all for the knowledge. You will be missed.

P.S. Here is the video of the Fox & Friends incident:

Wow... haven't watched him in a long time. Got turned off by the psychic. But I remember liking his show on many other occasions. As I watched the news clip it occured to me that he was tired of being in media or at least working for big business media.

I'm sure and hope that he will find meaningful media work. Thanks for sharing that.

Montel is a good man, I will miss his show, I wish him all the best for his future. I appreciate you bringing this story to the blog... I have been wondering why the sudden cancellation of his show was taking place.

Does Montel's departure mean we don't have to stare at the face of his hideous psychic sidekick day in and day out?

Montel should be truly ashamed of the millions of weak minds he's helped to flim flam just for the sake of his ratings. Goodbye, good riddance.

I went on her website to see what was in store for us in the near future. Here are just a few of her predictions...

Third floor of houses have rollback roofs to allow Hovercrafts to come and go.

No more surgery with knives. Some type of molecular ionization device that knows how to take out the afflicted cells then seal the wound without a single scar.

There will be no US Presidency; our government will go back to a Greek Senate structure.

No longer a single Pope, but a triumvirate of Popes, each assigned to a geographic collection of Catholics.

Peace in the Middle East will prevail by 2050.

West Coast goes under in 2026. Parts of the East Coast also get inundated. Tsunamis will wipe out a large portion of Japan. The Hawaiian Islands will have upheaval and be the site of a large new landmass.

Atlantis will begin to show itself by 2023 and be fully visible by 2026.

Atomic batteries will run cars.

A moon base is created for people to visit, and as a stopping place for further trips.

By 2055 most people will live in domed cities due to poor atmospheric conditions.

A virtual reality headset will stimulate brain waves so people can learn whole libraries of information within hours.

Addictions will be a thing of the past because of a brain stimulation, which eradicates all addictions, with no side effects.

No separate governments, one planetary government will form.

The veil separating our world from The Other Side will thin, so much so that most people will see decease loved ones and speak with their Spi

i'm not a montel fan, but i did see a episode which showed clips of past guest that he had on the show. i saw a clip of a little girl that was born with aids. she was only 8-10 years old. she talked about how she didnt have any friends, and parents would take their children out of class just because they didnt want their child being around a a little girl with aids. her only friends were her own family. it was a sad story, but she never gave up hope, and she said that she was gonna fight her illness as best as she could, even though somedays she just wished she was dead already. she died at the age of 15. i don't think that's tv crap.

ridiculous for you to think Fox & Friends had anything to do with FOX stations not wanting to continue airing montel. you know other stations in each market could make an offer for the program. the distributor could not find any takers.

Statue - Yeah, I do hope he continues to fight for what he believes in and remains active in the public eye.

Shans - I agree, I think hes a good guy out to do what he feels is right. I admire his courage in his fight with MS and just to say what he feels no matter what.

This Aint - I can understand why people wouldn't like him for having her on, I'll admit, she's pretty strange but to each his own I suppose. I think you'll be happy to know shes actually retiring.

Crafty - Do you not like him for those same reasons? Silvia Brown?

Abe - How is it ridiculous for me to think Fox & Friends had anything to do with it? It makes total sense. Why would Fox cancel one of the highest rated day time shows? Highly rated shows don't just get cancelled for nothing. Besides, we all know Fox would do anything for rating so why cancel his show other than for the simple fact that they feel attacked? Lastly, we don't know that the distributor couldn't find takers. Hell, maybe Montel said screw it, I'm out if Fox won't keep me. What other logical reason could there be?

Samo - I agree, thats what I liked about his show, most of the shows revolved around meaningful subjects with substance like that. Alright, I'll check out his blog.

a cable network did a background documentary to show how people on his show would be almost tortured to the point they would cry on cue and it was all fer ratings they didn't care about any of them..he knew and condoned it ..i cant stand the man..he is nothing more then any other paparazzi who make their living off other people expense's hope he suffers just like they did he is a piece of crap in my book..once he got ill he expected everyone to feel sorry for him ..screw him ..

It's not just Sylvia Brown, it's the phony waterworks he puts on every time there's some sad sack on his show. Never saw a man cry that much since Michael Landon in Little House On The Prairie.

And everything he does is pure exploitation of someone's misery for the sole sake of his ratings. Not to mention the phony vitamins he hock. Did I mention the stripper who was his guest that he later married.

The guy's a real lowlife.
