While I feel that the topic of children being murdered is disturbing.  I also understand the necessity of reporting such instances.  I am one of the many who feel that Casey Anthony murdered her daughter, Caylee.  I also feel that she should be given the sternest punishment possible.  I, however, question the medias lack of coverage of the other child that was murdered recently, early Monday morning on December 8th.  The local media is especially guilty of this.  I searched all the web sites of the main media outlets of Phoenix and none of them once mention the case of Billy Joe Johnson.  The 17 year old youth that committed 'suicide' with a 'self-inflicted' gunshot to the head with his hunting shotgun in Lucedale, Mississippi during a routine traffic stop.

This was a young man described by locals as being a "gifted athlete."  A star running back for George County High School, he was being courted by Alabama, LSU, Mississippi State, Auburn, Arkansas, ond Oregon.  All offering scholarships.  He was supposed to recieve an award that afternoon and had called his coach to ask what he should wear, yet, committed 'suicide' when stopped for running a red light.

The deputy that stopped him has stated that as he walked to his cruiser to run a check on Billy Joe, he heard a loud blast and returned to find Billy Joe laying next to his truck with his shotgun laying on top of him.  People in George County are skeptical because the wound is behind his left ear, Billy Joe was right-handed, and he 'shot' himself with a long barrel shotgun.  He used buckshot in his .12 guage shotgun with .3 inch Magnum.  According to the Johnson family attorney, Jerome Carter, it is unclear if the shotgun was his own and described the wound as being small according to photos the family recieved from the coroner.  I admit that I know absolutely nothing about guns but even that sounds suspect to me.

The Caylee Anthony disappearance is an especially heart breaking story but the media, with the exception of CNN, should be ashamed of themselves for ignoring stories regarding the 'murders' of other children.

My last post asked the question of will it come down to race.  A lot of you said that the only people making race an issue was Obama, "the Obamites", and "the blacks in America."  As McCain likes to say, "My friends" go to the following websites:

www.politico.com/blogs/jonathanmartin/1008/More_McC
ain_supporters_hurt_their_own_cause.html

www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2008/10/11/poltics/fromtheroa

It seems to me that blacks in America aren't the only ones making race an issue.

After canvassing white Democratic neighborhoods earlier this month, local Democrats grew concerned that race was playing a bigger role than they have previously expected.

``Who's going to look at you and say, `I am just not going to vote for him because he's a black man,''' said Tyler, who knocks on doors for a couple of hours every day, asking voters to fill out their absentee ballots. ``Nobody is going to tell you that.''

I copied and pasted this excerpt from an article written by Hans Nichols titled 'Obama Backers Worry His Race Will Hurt Him in 'Middletown, USA' '

This is not the first article I have run across that has implied the same thing.  I'm sure I'm not the only one of you that has seen interviews with Clinton supporters now voting for McCain because "I would never vote for a black."   Which makes me wonder if, once voters are in the booth will they actually vote for Obama- even though they publicly supported him.  Will they step in and think to themselves, "I'm not sure I'm ready for this, if the world is ready for this."

So I pose this question to you all, conservatives, liberals, and independents.  Just how much of this mentality do you think will play a deciding factor come November?  I am not considering his political views but race.

This is going to be short because there are not enough words for what I saw.  Gov. Sarah Palin's interview with Katie Couric was frightening... atrocius...surreal.  Yet again, I am left flabbergasted.  The interview was painful to watch.  I will be the first to admit that I am not up on all things political.  This is the first time I've ever been TRULY interested in what's going on around me.  But in the 2 interviews she has given, Gov. Palin makes me look like the Einstein of politics.

Every one of the presidental candidates have, at some point, had 'foot in the mouth disease'.  But Gov. Palin seems to have 'both feet in the mouth disease'.  And she seems to be ok with that.  Look, I understand that a majority of you all dislike Obama with a passion, but how can you seriously continue to support someone like Gov. Palin after this interview?  I shudder to think how bad it will be during her debate with Sen. Biden.

Throughout the entire interview, I could utter only one word..."Wow!"

Today Clay Aiken acknowledged that he is, indeed, gay.  Is anyone out there as shocked as I was?  He told the world what we already knew- a long time ago.  But the purpose of this post is not to bash Clay Aiken but to commend him on his courage in finally coming out...even if was only for the sake of his son.  He says he couldn't possibly teach his son about truth if he was lying about who he was.  Kudos to Mr. Aiken.  It is still very difficult to be gay in this society, even though society seems to be less disapproving.  As a nurse, I have read numerous journals about case studies trying to prove homosexuality is a choice, the majority of these case studies came to the conclusion that gays ARE born gay.  It is not a choosen lifestyle, despite what some narrow-minded individuals may believe.  I wish Mr. Aiken and his son all the best.

I  think it's great that Gov. Palin thinks she is ready to lead as a VP and maybe even president should something happen to Sen. McCain.  But even Stevie Wonder would see that she is unqualified.  I know people love to argue about Sen. Obamas experience and they have a point.  But it bothers me that she made the same statements about the 'Bridge to No Where' and the plane on ebay, even after it was proven that her claims were false.  Prior to her interview with Charlie Gibson, everytime I saw her and Sen. McCain, she sounded more like a cheerleader for Sen. McCain while he stood there waving at the crowd.  I understand the need to talk up your running mate but she was sickeningly sweet, then in the same breath she would turn around and launch into a tirade against Obama.   It freaked me the hell out.  My husband, with his 'wonderful' sense of humor, said "Hey, she sounds like you when it's that time of the month."   Ass.  She delivered a kick-ass speech at the RNC, I admit,  but the sarcasm and condescending attitude was too much.  All of it was.  Starting with Romney and especially Juliani.

I respect her for being a woman that has it all,  the family and the career.  It is a very delicate balancing act.  But I still don't think she is ready and not beacuse of the family, but because of her demeanor.  I don't want a president who will be pleasant with foreign leaders while everything is going her way, then morph into the girl in 'The Exorcist' when they don't.  We need someone with a cool head.  Who is able to remain rational and logical in the face of adversity.  Stop thinking I'm talking about Sen. Obama.

I am all for a woman president...someday.  But I don't think it was the right time for Sen. Clinton and I certainly don't think it's the right time for Gov. Palin.  I respect Sen. Clinton as well, but I felt it would have been like she was riding her husbands coat tail to the presidency.  Maybe that's just me though.  I do, however, think she proved that she could stay cool when tested and Sen. Obama did work her last nerve from time to time during those debates.

I was on the fence with regard to who I would vote for, but the Democrats are starting to look better everyday.

Look, I know Arizona is a Republican state and there are millions of you out there who believe the McCain/Palin ticket is the best thing to come along since sliced bread and you may be annoyed with my opinion but if you should decide to post on my blog, please keep all responses intelligent.  No name calling, sarcasm, or condescending statements.

Whordawg, I know you have plenty to say, LOL

Will someone PLEASE explain to me why congress continues to go on 'long holidays' even though they never seem to get anything done when in session.  Right now, they are supposed to break at the end of the month.  Why??? Our government is in the process of bailing out huge corporations at the cost of tax payers, like you and myself.  And their planning where the best fishing is and what they will take with them to Italy.  Are you kidding me?  There should be absolutely NO talk of breaking at all.  They should be telling the American public that they will not even think about leaving Washington until they have come up with some idea as to how they will try to fix this mess.  I am disgusted by our 'do nothing' congress.

This is not a post trashing McCain, it is a post wondering about his child tax exemption change.  This morning, during his live speech in Wisconsin, he said that he would double child tax exemptions to $7,000 for middle class couples with children.  My question then is what about the low income single parents.  There are a lot more of them than there are middle class couples.  What about people like my best friend, whose husband died and left her to care for two small children.  She is barely making ends meet but she does while working two jobs.  What about parents like her struggling to care for a child or children alone?

People need to know what's going on with  their candidates, presidential and vice presidental.   I dare CNN, FOX News Channel, MSNBC, and local television stations to air the following clip.  It is located at www.brasschecktv.com/page/325.html.  So far the only people who have had the guts to go after John McCain and call him on his b.s. are the women on The View.
