What a sad day .. We walk through life not knowing what that day will bring .You wake up in your every day routine .. For many people the 11 th day of September terror would come on a wing.. So much sorrow to them it would bring . As everyone went on their way it seemed just like another part of our routine ..When our peace was disturbed to our dismay.. It wouldn't be just another day … As fear was struck in us all .We never knew the towers would fall ..As they scrambled in fear to get away .. They never knew that morning it would be their last day..Their thoughts went out to their families and friends. Not knowing that they would never see them again .We all watched as our families were slain. We might not have known of anyone that was taken way .. but we will always cherish the lives that were lost that day .. For all the dreams and lives that came to an end .. We add all the ones that were lost to our list. loved ones and friends that no longer exist. We will love you all my anonymous friends.. We are so sorry it had to come to such an end …. Danny. Not unlike millions of Americans, 9-11 affected me on all levels for months following that day. I knew people who worked -- and died -- in the WTC buildings. There was a fitness center at the very top, and I knew the managers and staff trainers there. When I spent the weekend one Christmas in New York City and visited the WTC, I thought to myself "man, what an awesome office setting to have!" The sister of an ex-girlfriend worked as a financial analyst for Cantor Fitzgerald, and it was her dream job and dream office. It was and is also her gravesite. Her body was one of the thousands never found.

It angers me that some people -- including one of my brothers, former Minnesota Governor and fellow U.S. Navy veteran Jesse Ventura, and other idiots -- think that 9-11 was staged by our own government; that the airlines were military bombers with munitions on board, only pained as civilian airliners. What an absurd and reprehensible thought, let alone a story you tell anyone who will listen to such lunacy. On a far more pleasant note, your poem is extraordinary and your blog is heart-felt.

It's hard to believe it's been 7 years.

Dan, on that day we were doing a preflight check on our Spectre for a training mission.
A Sp came out to our plane and told us what had happened. Our flight was canceled. We immediatley started prepping for patrol missions on the east coast. The next day we flew over NYC, as we had many times before on training missions for urban combat. The towers were a control point that we had used many times. When we went over where they had been, I saw red. No sorrow, no pity for those killed and wounded, just anger. And a lust for revenge.
I know it was wrong, but to this day I still feel it. I want to kill those responsible for killing all those innocent people. They could come after me. I stand a chance of defending myself. Those poor people stood no chance.
Some of our innocence was taken away that day.
For all of our sakes, may we never be that naive ever again.
