Shopping? Heck no. I'm still eating left-overs.
and watching my 32" HDTV! A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift of All!

John Legend, Jon Stewart, Elvis Costello--awesomely funny.

I'll go with that last one. I participated by buying nothing.

I just went to see what was going on with some people at my old job and talk to friends.

To me, even though I only went to do that, this years 2008 Black Friday didn't seem to be busy at all many of the retail stores that weren't in all of the malls.

I did watch on WakeUp that all of the malls, and shopping outlets were more crazy and more busy than anywhere else.

My thought is I value my sleep and sanity (and fear of confined spaces) too much to get up before dawn to shop. I did, however, stop at Michael's around 11:15 this morning and they still had the yarn I wanted. BONUS.

I left the house at 2am with 3 of my older kids. I was all psyched on buying a laptop. We headed over to Best Buy in Brookfield...only to find that everyone had arrived there at 3pm on Thursday. The line went 3/4 of the way around the building. These folks meant business! They were laying on air mattresses, drinking coffee and hot chocolate, bundled up like we lived in Alaska. I headed over to Circuit City. The line wasn't bad at all, but the thought of standing in a line in twenty-some degree weather ranked right up there with having my wisdom teeth extracted. I called Super Walmart on my cell phone and found that they had what I was looking for and they are open 24/7.

I drove out to Mukwanago to the Walmart and walked right in. The crowds were slightly unbearable, but I was prepared for that. I got to the electronics department and the line was UNBELIEVABLE!!! While in line, I find out that they have 3 of one kind of laptop and 7 of another kind. I ended up standing in line for about 45 minutes...but I got my laptop. Thankfully, there were people in front of me that were buying video games and not laptops! So, here I am, blogging with my brand new laptop...and I didn't have to freeze my butt off! Plus, I got a GREAT price!!!

I was back home by 6am and online by 6:15am. That's only because I had to go back to Best Buy to buy an air card so I can use the internet anywhere without having to worry about all of the wi-fi junk. Would I recommend going out on Black Friday to anyone? Heck no! Those people out there are out for blood! A guy came up to me while I was in line to simply ask me a question...the crowd went psycho. They were ready to throw down! He quickly hauled his hiney to the end of the line!

I just can't do it. The thought of being in a jungle like that is just a big turnoff to me.
Not too mention I HATE waiting in line.
My husband did some online shopping. You can get everything that's on sale at the stores and shipping was free at most places.
I'm with Fox6fan.
Stay home, relax and watch Colbert.
Although I did drive my daughter back to Chicago today. It was worth it. I stopped at a restuarant call Smoque and picked up some brisket and ribs. I am done with the turkey.
I was really surprised that the highway was so quiet. The traffic wasn't bad at all.
Nice to see you back around, GIT!
I'm glad you got your laptop!!

Our families go out en masse Friday meeting at Kohls at 4:30 am each year. We gather T-giving night with the ads to create a plan so we can divide & hit all the bargains. Then we play Adults vs. Kids Trivial Pursuit - well over 20 people. AGAIN those kids took the trophy this year! (a hideous gold cherub glued to a base) For Friday, we began wearing Xmas hats a few years ago b/c it was easier to find each other - now we've added t-shirts. We all know each other thru our kids who went to Gtown HS but are now in college. They look forward to the full 'tradition' - kicking our butts in trivia (yes we DO try - where do the kids get all this stuff?), Kohls, the mall, and the Annual Lunch. We all meet to figure out who got what for who - who owes what, etc. Yesterday we gathered at Bravo Cucina. Why do all the craziness? Yes the bargains are a big part of it but it's more about doing the craziness with all the kids. Who knows how many more times we will have until they head off on their own lives after school.

A G-town Gift Grabber.

We made it through. To the mall for family pictures, then off to lunch. That was it and I am glad. There were people everywhere and while I admit, I don't study ads, I have had most of my shopping done since last month and I don't think the things I got were any cheaper yesterday than they were before.

I went to Best Buy, last week and bought a WII and the nine million other attachements you need to make the thing work - spent $480 some odd dollars, including the warranty.

Called Tuesday morning and Wednesday night to find out that Best Buy finally had the Guitar Hero with whole band set in stock - only 8 of them for the whole Back Friday weekend. I ran up at 8:30 at night - and bought one leaving them with 7.

I priced checked the items on line yesterday, and today. The prices were still the same and I didn't have to fight the crowds or - like Amy mentioned, I have the fear of to many people in small space.

Best Buy gets a ^5 for customer service on the phone and in the store. They were fabulous and so many people available to help you with your questions and needs.

So if you are going to Best Buy, hit the one in Fox Point . I'd give credit to those that are due, but I don't want some quack on this website calling them up and playing games.

Nothing eventful for me, however went to Mayfair Mall Friday morning. Did a little window shopping, that was it. A good friend of mine, however, went all out. He pitched a tent outside a Best Buy in Milwaukee the afternoon before to get a good deal on a Toshiba computer. The first 15 customers were able to purchase a computer, normally priced at around $700 for $400. Pretty cool. Wish I had heard about the deal beforehand.
