It's official. The Green Bay Packers have traded Brett Favre to the New York Jets.

What do the teams have to say?

"Brett has had a long and storied career in Green Bay, and the Packers owe him a tremendous debt of gratitude for everything he accomplished on the field and for the impact he made in the state," Green Bay officials said in a statement.

Jets chairman and CEO Woody Johnson issued the following statement Thursday:

"I am looking forward to seeing Brett Favre in a New York Jets uniform," Johnson said. "He represents a significant addition to this franchise, and reflects our commitment to putting the best possible product on the field. Mike Tannenbaum and his football administration staff did a great job of navigating this complex process. I am excited about welcoming Brett, Deanna and their family to the Jets organization."

We want to know - what do you think? Was this a good move? A bad one? What does this mean for fans? Will you continue to cheer for the Packers... or will your alliance follow Favre to New York?

Well, kudos to perhaps the dumbest, most poorly run franchise in all of sports. Forgetting the lessons taught to them by the Bears, Vikings, Lions, etc. (members within their own division), they have traded their best player (I don't care if he is going on 50, Favre is still their best player) away for a draft pick.
I am so disgusted with the Packers manglement that, even though I have considered myself a Packer fan for as long as I can remember, I no longer want to be affiliated with the team in anyway. The goal of any GM is to field the best possible team. Thompson failed to do this. And to show utter disdain for Favre in the whole process was completely CLASSLESS. The Packers, the Lambeau mystigue, etc. as far as I'm concerned can all go KMA. Go Jets! And if the Jets trade him to the Bears (which is exactly what I hope they do), then GO BEARS!!!!!

I agree with comments above in that I think the way the GB Management snubbed and disgarded Brett Favre was entirely classless. They claim to want to put the best team on the field, yet how do we even know that Aaron can stay injury free? The first opportunity he gets he is nearly out for the season. The fact is that if Aaron cannot hang then he will be hung. Brett Favre made me a Packer fan with his passion for the game, the team, and the city of GB. If management thinks they are so good w/o #4 then why not trade him to the Bears? They certainly could be superbowl contenders with a great QB like Brett. Well GB management you better hope and pray that you didn't let your egos get in the way of your judgment. As far as I am concerned you 3 stooges STINK! Good luck with #12 and your rebuilding process.

I Love Football, but now thanks to Murphy, Thompson and McCarthy, I'm no longer a Packer Backer. None of those three stooges have the mind set to be in the Packer organization. Brett Favre is a Packer Legend and he should have been welcomed back with open arms. For the first time since the early 70's I won't be cheering for or supporting the Packers in any way, shape or form.... Go Bears! Go Jets! Go Brett!

My biggest fear is that Rodgers will get injured or won't perform well and Brett will be long gone. The Pack took a gamble but I don't know how many options they had left. I don't think any of us envisioned Brett's career ending this way, but it's the way the dice was rolled. Hopefully it rolled in our favor.

I am sooo glad Brett is gone. I am so disappointed in Brett and his actions and am GLAD to see him go. Let the Jets have him, and let's see him not stay there either, I bet he'll trade again before its all over.

Who does he think he is to waste Mike McCarthy's time, all his planning, all the plays practiced, all the players working, and Aaron doing his job too!! HEY BRETT--- YOU RETIRED!! Stop jerking our team around with your indecision. I am so fricken happy Ted Thompson stayed his ground and parted ways. We need to rebuild as every other team does at times and we need to give each player, including Aaron Rodgers, his due time and support. (And any parent letting their 6 year old tell him Aaron he sucks should have their head examined )

Always a Green Bay Packer Fan!!!

And being pulled through this was like having him retire all over again. We were sad, upset, and wondering what will become of the Packers when Favre announced he was gone. It's the same emotions now, except now we're sad because our legend became the bad guy.

I am very happy that Brett gets to play again, The packers are going to realize that they made the biggest mistake in the world. The way that they treated brett when he was to come into the locker room, and then finds that he was locked out, what the hell was Ted and Mike thinking? that was the rudest inappropriate thing that anyone could ever have done. Then Ted and Mike McCarthy acts like they didn't do anything wrong? Come on!I would of felt just like Brett did!! I'm really going to miss him with the Packers, and Now I'm going to be a Jets FAN!!!I don't agree with how Ted and Mike McCarthy handled everything. Shame on Ted And Mike. This kind of stuff you would expect from CHILDREN!!!! The Packers are not going to the Super Bowl and for the Jet, they will!!! I hope that Brett gets them to the Super Bowl, and He will be happy. But like I said before, TED and MIKE are idiots, and SHAME ON THEM FOR LIEING AND TREATING BRETT like they did!!

I just like to say that I think it is horrible that they traded favre to the JETS. Id like to see Farve on Tampa's team as it would make things interesting here in GB when we play them. WE WILL MISS YOU FARVE YOU WILL ALWAYS HOLD A PLACE IN OUR HEARTS.......#4

Packer management did their stockholders a grave disservice by trading away Brett Favre. Their job is to field the best team possible. Trading away Brett, the sports number 1 QB, is not paart of trying to field the best team. When Brett said he was interested in coming back to play he should have been welcomed back with open arms. Instead, they did everything they could to keep him from playing.

If the Packers honestly didn't think he was a better QB than Rogers, why not trade him to the Bears or Vikings? Because they know the Packers would get their clocks cleaned by either of those teams with Brett at QB.

I wish the Jets well. They now have the #1 QB in the sport. They will make a killing off the merchandising alone. With Brett in a big city market like NY, there is no doubt he will do well with endorsements as well. They win. They Packers lose BIG TIME.

I think a lot of people are forgetting what Favre has put the Packer organization and the fans through over the last 4 seasons. "I'm thinking about retiring"....."I'm coming back for one more year". I for one was sick of it. Especially after this last fiasco. I had just gotten used to the idea that he wasn't going to be playing this year when he changes his mind yet AGAIN. I love Brett Favre, but not the one who's been showing up in the off season.
As far as I'm concerned, neither side looked very good coming out of this. But going on history, can we really blame the Packers for their stance on his return?
Favre is a legend. I will never dispute that. I appreciate everything he has done for the organization and the fans. And ted Thompson has single handidly destroyed the credibility of, what was once considered to be, a classy, no drama franchise.
I'll continue to root for the Packers. But I've lost respect for not only the team, but the quarterback I once cheered.

.....Also. If it had not been for Favre's past indecisiveness, I truly believe the outcome of this would have been much different.
