Small town living that is ....We live in a small town just a few miles south of Fond du Lac, and about 40 miles north of Milwaukee..population 2,233. Moved here about 15 years ago and plan to retire here.A very nice peaceful community...our leader holds the title of "Village President" not "Mayor"...we honor our founders each year as well as several public events in our park...the turn out is great !

The village is quite small in size as well as in population, the crime is hardley non-existing.....but being a stones throw away from State Highway 41 I see it gradually increasing....We had our first set of stop and go lights put here last year or so...again because of the traffic coming off 41....We see more and more people from the big cities migrating north to our village.....some good, some not, but that seems to be the norm in any community......I like this location 'cause you can jump on the hwy and get to the city in minutes...if you need to........peacefull living at it's best.......I hardly doubt any time soon will we need to activate the national gaurd.......at least I hope not.

What is your community like to live in??

Do you sometimes wish you were out of the city?

Where would your ideal place to live be ???

Later...............Mugs

Yesterday I had a chance to interview for an office position at the company that currently employs me. This was really an experience for me. I am one of three internal candidates.

At the previous job I held( for 25 years ,then retired , ) I did a lot of the interviews and  submitted recommendations whether to hire or not to the personnel director.

So I felt a little wierd being the interviewee rather than the interviewer. As I sat across the table from the personnel director and the manager of the division that  the new hire would report to, I began to think back ( when I was doing their job) about every question they asked me.

Did I sound that stuffy when I was on that side?

Was my voice and actions  that intimidating?

Were my questions and comments sometimes meaningless?

All these things ran through my mind , once, for a split second I had lost my train of thought while in the middle on an explanation to one of his questions. I caught myself and pulled off a save. That would of been embarrassing not being able to finish my response due to a brain f *** .

The process took over an hour, I thought they'd never let up.

So... I thought I did pretty well with the interview. We'll see in the next week or so how it really went.

Have any of you bloggers experienced and wierd, difficullt, or embarrassing interviews? Any that you might have known more than the interviewer, but didn't want to "show off your knowledge" in fear of not landing the job ??

Please share them with us...............Thanks.

Hi Vince, and the rest of the weather gang !

I've been walking past my covered Harley sitting in the garage all winter. I had some things to do around the house today, when I finished I was on the way back into the house and  I stopped,.....looked at the harley........I couldn't help but to pull off the cover and crank it up !!  Still sounds good, (not that the winter months would change anything)  ha ha.

Wow.I really miss riding!   If it wouldn't have been for the mega salt on the roads I'd have a ride under my belt already. It was a beautiful day today!!

Thought I'd share that with you. I enjoy watching all the FOX 6's forecasts..good job!!

Conrgatulations Mr. Stephan,

Sixty years of dedicated service to the Dousman fire/ EMT departments, WOW what an accomplishment. The people there and the people of Dousman I'm sure are very greatful for a person  such as yourself.

When I saw the piece on Fox 6 last evening, (excellent job Tami Hughes and all) I felt moved and a bit choked. To have a person in the community with this energy and drive is extremely heart warming.

Sixty years is a long time committed to one cause !!  I worked in a factory and retired after 25 years, before starting my  dump truck venture back in 2002. My tenure there seemed like an eternity, but I met loads of good people

Good luck in the future at the department and I wish you continued good health for many years to come.

Hope we're all that active when we reach that milestone.

As I watch the news/weather regarding how cold it is with the wind chills and such, I can't even begin to imagine what it would be like to be in the cold and no where to go.

Stop and think about it.

Thank God for places that provide shelter, warm clothes, and food for the less fortunate.
