Incognito needs to go Incognito.....!!

see-ya.gif see ya image by orochimaru11

Would you act like an idiot in front of the person that pays your salary....... Well Mr. Incognito has been doing just that........ It's the fan that pays 7 dollars for a beer and inflated food prices and buys season tickets to pay him a salary that most of us would just dream of....... I used to like to watch Mr. Inconito play ball...... But since I have learned a little about his attitude towards us I could care less if they bench him and release him for the rest of the year.......

Would you bite the hand that feeds you........??

The Cardinals need something or maybe they need to get rid of someone and buy a pitcher or two.......

Will you root for the cubs in the fall classic?

The First Was The Best....!!

Sportsman_Park.jpg Sportsman Park image by crennier

I miss Sportsman Park.....Not so much the park, but the atmosphere created by the players and the people that attended the games there....... Busch Stadium was ok, but it marked the beginning of  commercializing the game and when new Busch Stadium was born, the game became a full blown business...... At  Sportsman Park I was a little boy that went to the game with his dad and his uncles.....  Got to watch some of the greatest players and usually sat in fantastic seats...... At  Bush Stadium early I was the young man that went with friends and later on I  was the father that watched his son sit there with the glove on his hand hoping for a foul ball and remembering that little boy still lurking somewhere inside me...... The new stadium finds me in my  "( young )" fifties sitting in nosebleed seats...... Due to the now business part of the game the expensive tickets of desire are bought up and resold, or occupied by season ticket holders...... Bleacher spaces have dwindled in lieu of party boxes and the seats are smaller and closer together...... Going to a game for a family of four may cost as much as a weeks wage for some...... Hopefully  the tradition of the game will live on and make more great memories for a lot of little boys..... I wish there was a tee shirt for us old guys that said " Three stadium club member "

I'm sure it would cost at least $30 though......

What's your fondest memory at the ball park....??

Happy Birthday Jose..!!

Oquendo.jpg Oquendo auto image by cheifsalltheway

José Manuel Roberto Guillermo Oquendo (born July 4, 1963 in Río Piedras, Puerto Rico)

 Career

Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Oquendo began his major league career at the age of 19 in 1983 with the New York Mets. In the 1986 season, however, he joined the Cardinals, where he would spend the rest of his career, eventually playing every defensive position, most often second base until his retirement after failing to make the Cardinal roster out of spring training in 1996. He was a lifetime .256 hitter, but made a mark as a patient batter, finishing his career with more walks than strikeouts and a .346 on base percentage.

Oquendo once pitched in relief for four innings, shutting out the Atlanta Braves for three innings before yielding 2 runs, earning the first decision by a non-pitcher in 20 years. His best year came in 1989, when he was in the top 10 in batting average, hits, triples, walks, singles, on base percentage, and games played.

Oquendo served as manager of the team representing Puerto Rico in the 2006 World Baseball Classic.

I enjoyed him as a Cardinal and now as a coach..!!

What happened to the American pastime..?

f89e.jpg T-ball Braves image by paula_peppers

According to what I just saw on the news these kids are infringing on the copyright laws of the Atlanta Braves unless they bought their uniforms from the same place that they get theirs...... I'm sure that baseball would go broke if these kids bought cheaper uniforms that they could afford..... To them it's still a game..... Major league teams should be honored that a little boy still wants to wear their name on his Jersey..... I guess that A-rod could not earn his 175 thousand a game if they bent the rules at all..... If they caved in on this loss of revenue then they would have to triple the price of a beer.... Oh wait my bad, they have already done that.....  The game or still referred to by some as the great American pastime has long left us and became a business.....  I can't believe that baseball would strip kids of their uniforms because of greed.......

Do you think they are going too far....??

He had to go and fire Pujols up..... Thanks..!!!

bl.jpg LIDGE image by maki101_bucket Pujols Homers Twice

Posted 11 hours, 27 minutes ago in Sports    Most Covered

(newser) – Albert Pujols hit his first two homers of the year and the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Houston Astros 6-4 on Wednesday night to take their third straight series. Pujols also had an RBI-single and Rick Ankiel added two RBIs. Pujols ended the longest home run drought to start the year in his career, hitting two in his ninth game.

Do you think Lidge was really thinking about the welfare of his catcher or is he just a sore loser that has not gotten over the fact that Pujols made him look like a tee baller on a couple of occasions..... Mr Lidge is starting to remind me of Kenny Rogers.... Another baby in the game.......

Do you think the apology was enough.......??

Wonder why it costs so much to see a game..!!

A-Rod Makes More Than Marlins Roster

NEW YORK (AP) — Alex Rodriguez makes more this year than his hometown Florida Marlins. Boosted by his new deal with the New York Yankees, A-Rod tops the major league baseball salary list at $28 million, according to a study of contract terms by The Associated Press. The 33 players on the Marlins' opening-day roster and disabled list total $21.8 million.

It's not the same game as it was when I grew up..... I remember going to Sportsman Park as a kid when Stan the Man played for the love of the game and not to see how fat of a salary he  could get.......

I think I'll stick to watching the games on T. V. and the kids play live........ It's just not worth $200 to go to a game.......

Do you think pro sports are pricing themselves out of a job..??

There is a Beast living in us all...!!

warrior.gif warrior image by AshleyFantazia

One of the things that fuels our soul and gives us meaning in life is competition and the thrill of victory..... We are all living with a built in competitive personality........ It starts on the playground and the level of playing and competition blossoms to more challenging and difficult games as we age...... Life itself is a game and those who are good at is will succeed..... There is competition in every factor of life and we all seem to find that one thing that we are competitive at..... There are unusual competitions and there are pro athletes that devote all of their life training to be the best...... But no matter the level the same beast lives in us all striving to be sitting on top of the heap when the last one is left standing.... There is also a dark side of this beast that surfaces often.... I see it most when I coach kids sports..... The dark side  often  comes out in the parents......  They forget who is really in competition...... Those who have the dark beast in them doesn't accept defeat easily and becomes a sore sport..... A good sport will congratulate winners and look to the future  to compete again..... So when your child takes to the fields, courts, plays sports or any competition, you must   always remember that it's just a game and it's actually fun unless someone belittles or makes a scene from the sidelines .....  There is nothing worse for the kids than to see a parent ejected from the stands..... I have seen it happen.....  Have a great season with your young and remember it is for them and not the parents..... So what are you competitive at....??

What brings out the beast in you...... ???

ConradDobler.jpg Conrad Dobler image by greyking01

Over the years sports has always had the unsavory and the players known for not being nice..... Although most people hated them, they would add flavor and controversary to the  game....  No sport is excluded and in some sports it was expected.....  Names  like Mean Joe Green.... The Refrigerator..... Mike Tyson..... Conrad Dobler pictured above was one that I always liked to watch.....  how many can you remember and name.....

Who are the bad boys of the game....... ??
