Any  tips for keeping your house warm...??

winter_home3.gif Winter Cabin image by Bear-45-70

Are you ready for the cold....... Sitting at the Eagles today by the big glass windows one could feel the outside wind as if the windows were not even there.....  A little caulk would definately slow down that air but totally stopping it in that old building is all but impossible...... But it serves as a reminder that I need to go around my house and look for ways to slow down Old Man Winter wanting to creep into my home.... There are so many things that can be done to save on heating and cooling...... One of my best secrets is to put a fan in the hottest room in the house and have it blowing air out of that room into the rest of the house...... It cuts down on the time that the furnace runs..... A little caulking and good winter curtains can also go a long way...... Sunny days the shades open will help.... The link below has a good article about properly insulating your home......

Onething that I see people do that is so dangerous is to vent their dryer indoors in the winter.........

Not a smart move......

How warm are you......??
Depends:) Ask me every 5 minutes; and I'll have a different answer for you:) I'm either Really Hot or Really Cold; which changes every few minutes. I spend most of my time putting on my robe and then taking it off and putting it back on again. LOL:)

What are some of your tips for keeping warm....?? TURN UP THE HEAT! :)

Well I know this is right.

Needless to say, you much prefer to be the boss in any situation and must constantly watch your tongue.

I am like Suz , I keep the thermostate at one temp 73-74. I get cold and put on sock's and long sleeve shirt. Get hot I take them off. That is my form of excercise in the winter. lol.

WOOD HEAT.....don't think i could live without out it. Soon will have our outdoor wood furnace in and it'll even be warmer. That and our house has really good windows and very well insulated. Plus wood heat will warm you twice!

I go around all day with a t-shirt and a sweatshirt on so when I get hot, I take off the sweatshirt. Put it back on when I get cold. The coldest place I've been to was up by the Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota. Really windy there-worse then Chicago.

You just need some aspirin.

To warm your home, invite a politician in to visit and ask him why you should vote for him to start him yapping.

SAFETY WARNING!!!
There will be plenty hot air to warm your home, but you'll probably end up with a splitting headache so make sure you don't forget to stock up on aspirins first.

I'm from Wisconsin and thought moving to Missouri would warm me up;) Well not really but at least it doesnt get in the minuses. My cousin just sent me a pic of her front yard. 3 inches of snow, asked me if I missed it....ummm no!!!

1) New furnace filter
2) Programmable Thermostate
3) Plastic shrink wrapped all windows
4) Blanket around my water heater
5) Warm socks, housecoat and heater from Sams

Oh yeah, I have winter drapes up to. I would love to put in new windows and add more insulation to my attic BUT now keeping food on the table is my #1 importance.

On the windows I do not need to open I put up the annual plastic stretch panels. Because I keep the thermostat between 69 and 70 I wear warm clothes like thermal sleepwear. When I am away at work I keep the temperature even lower. The only time that thermostat goes up is shower time! Brrrr! Keep warm!
