I am a concerned parent and the world knows this. I make every effort to be an active part of my children's lives and I am fed up with my son's high school. I have a 16 year old who attends a Philadelphia public school and is constantly being harassed by the principal. It truly rattles my nerves to know I can not send my son to school without him being written up for going to the bathroom with a note from his teacher because the principal feels the note is not acceptable. I have had a problem with this woman and her coworkers for the last two and a half months and am at my wits end with the system. I have contacted the Regional Office and was given a very good story and assured I would meet with the regional supervisor and the pricipal back in January and I am still waiting for such a meeting to occur. I've been sent to the truancy unit on the pretense that he was absent from school 35 days, however the principal negelected to mention my son was a medically homebound student, due to having a major knee surgery in August because he tore his ACL. What do you do as a parent when you try to work as a team with the educators and it seems their purpose is to tear the children down? My son is the average 16 year old whose biggest fault with me is forgetting to take out the trash or falling asleep before he does the dishes at night. Can anyone give me a few words of advice or and avenue to go down? The district is no help at this point.
