I am so very upset about this. I saw this story this morning on Fox 11 KTLA.
I will never understand why the adults in this picture are walking ahead of this 9 year old at NIGHT and crossing a  STREET. They just left him to catch up. I don't get it. I really don't.
9 year olds have absolutely NO concept of getting hit by a car. I have 4 sons, my oldest being 16 and the youngest being 10. One of my son's birthday's is today, in fact and he is 15 now.
I STILL have my eyes all over them. I would never let any of them cross a street at night BEHIND me..even my 16 year old. Even in broad daylight I make sure I can see everyone if there are cars.
Maybe I am too over-protective, but I love them and it is my job and dad's job to protect them and teach them to NEVER run in the street.
I wish people would stop thinking that if nothing bad has happened so far that nothing ever will. Your children trust you to be their guide in life...I am so sad so very many people take this job far too lightly.
I am very very saddened by this event.
I hope this little boy never felt a thing, especialy pain or fear.
I don't know him but I love him and his innocence and I wish I could have been his mother..I would have watched him.
