The following was on the MTV website about Ms. Hilton's new realty show-

Paris Hilton is a woman who needs no introduction, but she'd probably want one anyway. As America's #1 "it" girl, Paris and her entourage make headlines almost daily -- from parties at the hottest clubs to whirlwind weekend getaways to lavish shopping sprees. Rolling with Paris' inner circle is a pleasure normally reserved for A-list celebrity friends like Nicole Richie and Britney Spears, but Paris has decided that she wants a new BFF -- and Paris Hilton always gets what she wants.

With the celebutante at the helm, Paris Hilton's My New BFF is sure to be a reality show unlike any other. In it, Paris wields ultimate power. Her whim becomes law with a simple text message to her 18 potential new BFFs, and heaven help them if it's a frowny face. From her secluded VIP control room, Paris keeps a close eye on the contestants while making all the catty comments she wants. And if the wannabe BFFs aren't keeping her entertained, a simple "I'm bored" sent via text will whip everyone into a frenzy.

But the 14 tabloid-ready girls and two flamboyant guys vying for Paris Hilton's friendship will have to do more than just entertain the demanding diva; they'll have to prove they can handle her over-the-top lifestyle. Each week Paris will pose new challenges to the BFF hopefuls, who must rely on their wits, charm and looks to get ahead. Of course, Paris won't be going easy on them. She might invite them out to a club and "forget" to put their names on the guest list but still expect them to get in or bring them to Tokyo -- without luggage -- and tell them to be red carpet ready soon after touching down. Mean? Sure. Sadistic? You bet, but it's just another day at the "office" for the queen bee of celebrity.

Only one contestant will emerge victorious on Paris Hilton's My New BFF, and with 16 attention-starved jet-set wannabes living under one roof, drama is inevitable. As if that isn't enough, group challenges wherein teams are picked "schoolyard style" will put alliances to the test on a weekly basis. Fortunately, some two-way mirrors in the bathroom -- aka "gossip central" -- and a tell-all "burn book" will keep viewers in the loop about what's going down behind the scenes. That's hot!

Since Paris Hilton has total subjective control over who stays and who goes, it's up to the contestants to figure out what she's really looking for in a new best friend. Like any diva, Paris is prone to flights of fancy, so the quest for her affection will be a confusing one. Only those who play the game to perfection will find success on this most unpredictable quest to be Paris' new BFF!

Who in their right mind is going to watch this show?  This has to be the dumbiest thing I have ever seen.  Competing to be a friend of her's?

Here is another blog I have been meaning to write and getting as old as I am I keep forgetting and then I recalled this weekend.  I am a native St. Louisian and thus I recall so many things that used to be here and are no longer when I drive by various places.  If you are a native you will probably recall more than if you moved here, but all are welcome.  Here are a few of places I recall from my childhood, not sure if a blog has been done like this....

Shakey's pizza on Watson  (big in the 70's)

Drive In on Watson where the Best Buy and Schnucks center is (across from Crestwood Plaza)

Jo Jo's on watson down from Crestwood Plaza

West County Dove

Schnucks where Kohls on Watson is

I have a few more but need to head to a meeting.

OK

So here it goes.  This past Sunday, I went to the movies for the first time in say 3 years.  Why you may ask, I just have not seen to many movie previews that made me want to run out and pay to see them.  So the last picture I saw was the Passion of the Christ.    A lot has changed since then.  We went and saw The Strangers, I thought it was good, I know there are some that thought it was stupid, but I think it was pretty suspenseful and put you on the edge of your chair, the funny thing is though it is not a reality film, this type of movie could and does happen.  Anyway, to the point of the blog.  We arrived early, got our popcorn and sodas and selected a distance appropriate seat from the screen and chat among ourselves until the lights dimmed and they started to play previews and  commercials (that is the part that has changed).  They clearly stated on the screen a few times that you were to turn off your cell phone and not to talk during the movie.  The room appeared to have people in it that I thought knew how to read.  WRONG.  The number of cell phones that went off, the people who would not shut up, and duh we are in a horror movie and they are laughing about something unrelated to the movie.  I began to think, you came to a movie theater for what reason, next time wait for the DVD and invite your friends over and at least my friends have manners.  Again, I am completely surprised with the inconsiderateness of people.  If we go to a movie again, that is a big IF, and this happens again, I will not hesitate to go and get the hired help to deal with people like this.    OH  this is a funny thing that we saw happen, some lady decided to start chomping on her popcorn toward the end of the movie.  I don't know about others, but I am usually done with mine within the first 30 minutes.  Anyway, I think I can do without the movie theater atmosphere and watch them on dvd in the future.

Hello All-

Been a while since I have been on here. Been really busy and it is that time of the year that I am out educating the public about caring for their pets. Which brings about this blog. Yesterday I was out do some errands and stopped at the Target on Kirkwood road. Upon leaving I noticed a mother and her children getting out of their car and leaving their 2 cocker spaniels in the car. It was about 65 yesterday, however, she parked in a spot where the sun was directly beaming on her car. She cracked the windows about an inch at that. I politely asked her if she was going to leave them in the car. She replied, "why not", I stated that they are already panting and the windows would need to be open a lot more to allow for the air to circulate. Her comment, "they are ok", I stated, "I do animal rescue and was simply trying to educate you on keeping your dogs safe". She replied back, "your just being rude", I replied back, "Miss, If I was being rude I would have been yelling at you and calling you names. I politely asked you and tried to provide you some information and education". She stated, "I have done my research, and stormed off". Makes me think that I hit a nerve with her. Amazing people become so standoffish when you are only trying to help. I should have said, "would you leave your child in the car alone?" Why would you leave a dog in a car?

Hot Weather Tips

for Dogs

In summertime, the living isn’t always easy for our animal friends. Dogs and cats can suffer from the same problems that humans do, such as overheating, dehydration and even sunburn. By taking some simple precautions, you can celebrate the season and keep your pets happy and healthy.

- A visit to the veterinarian for a spring or early summer check-up is a must; add to that a test for heartworm, if your dog isn't on year-round preventive medication. Do parasites bug your animal companions? Ask your doctor to recommend a safe, effective flea and tick control program.

- Never leave your pet alone in a vehicle—hyperthermia can be fatal. Even with the windows open, a parked automobile can quickly become a furnace in no time. Parking in the shade offers little protection, as the sun shifts during the day.

- Always carry a gallon thermos filled with cold, fresh water when traveling with your pet.

- The right time for playtime is in the cool of the early morning or evening, but never after a meal or when the weather is humid.

- Street smarts: When the temperature is very high, don’t let your dog standing on hot asphalt. His or her body can heat up quickly, and sensitive paw pads can burn. Keep walks during these times to a minimum.

- A day at the beach is a no-no, unless you can guarantee a shaded spot and plenty of fresh water for your companion. Salty dogs should be rinsed off after a dip in the ocean.

- Provide fresh water and plenty of shade for animals kept outdoors; a properly constructed doghouse serves best. Bring your dog or cat inside during the heat of the day to rest in a cool part of the house.

- Be especially sensitive to older and overweight animals in hot weather. Brachycephalic or snub-nosed dogs such as bulldogs, pugs, Boston terriers, Lhasa apsos and shih tzus, as well as those with heart or lung diseases, should be kept cool in air-conditioned rooms as much as possible.

- When walking your dog, steer clear of areas that you suspect have been sprayed with insecticides or other chemicals. And please be alert for coolant or other automotive fluid leaking from your vehicle. Animals are attracted to the sweet taste, and ingesting just a small amount can be fatal. Call your veterinarian or the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center at (888) 426-4435 if you suspect that your animal has been poisoned.

- Good grooming can stave off summer skin problems, especially for dogs with heavy coats. Shaving the hair to a one-inch length—never down to the skin, please, which robs Rover of protection from the sun—helps prevent overheating. Cats should be brushed often.

- Do not apply any sunscreen or insect repellent product to your pet that is not labeled specifically for use on animals. Ingestion of sunscreen products can result in drooling, diarrhea, excessive thirst and lethargy. The misuse of insect repellent that contains DEET can lead to neurological problems.

- Having a backyard barbecue? Always keep matches, lighter fluid, citronella candles and insect coils out of pets' reach.

- Please make sure that there are no open, unscreened windows or doors in your home through which animals can fall or jump.

- Stay alert for signs of overheating in pets, which include excessive panting and drooling and mild weakness, along with an elevated body temperature.

Don’t Leave Me This Way!
Number-one rule of automobile safety for pets: NEVER LEAVE YOUR PET ALONE IN A PARKED CAR! Overheating can kill an animal.

It only takes ten minutes on an 85-degree day for the inside of your car to reach 102 degrees Fahrenheit, even if the windows have been left open an inch or two. Within 30 minutes, the interior can reach 120 degrees—and even when the temperature is a pleasant 70 degrees, the inside of your car may be as much as 20 degrees hotter than the air outside. Parking in the shade offers little protection, as the sun is constantly shifting throughout the day. Pets who are young, elderly, or obese are particularly at risk of overheating (hyperthermia), as are those with thick or dark-colored coats, and breeds with short muzzles.

This same precaution carries over to the winter months, too. In cold weather, a car can act as a refrigerator, holding in the cold and causing an animal to freeze to death.

Car Travel Tips
Whether you’re going around the block or across the country, the ASPCA recommends that you keep your pets safe and secure in a well-ventilated crate or carrier. Make sure it’s large enough for your pet to stand, sit, lie down and turn around in. You’ll also want to keep in mind:
- Don’t allow your pet to ride with his head outside the window. This can subject him to inner ear damage and lung infections, and he could be injured by flying objects.
- Don’t feed your furry friend in a moving vehicle—even if it’s a long drive.
- Carry a gallon thermos of cold water, or bring along a two-liter plastic bottle of water that you’ve frozen the night before.

I thought this would be a good blog to start, if you would like to add something please do.

We are approaching another holiday season and it seems that with the hussle and bussle that we lose site of simple common courtesies, in addition here are a few hints.

1. Is that parking spot the only parking spot? So the person took it from you, is it really necessary to yell at them or start a fight? Is it really necessary to speed through the parking lot to get a spot? There are people walking in the lot and you never know if a child is present.

2. Is it really necessary to answer your cell phone while being waited on in line when the sales associate it trying to help you or ring you out?

3. When you have a lot of packages take them to your car and put them in the trunk and out of sight. Go in teams if possible. Criminals are looking for those who have more than they can handle and are not focused.

4. Women watch your purses, whether in a shopping mall or grocery store, I see so many who dangle them or walk away from their carts and wonder why their purse is stolen.

5. Hold your child's hand. When the malls are busy, children can get lost!

6. If you are having a bad day, don't take it out on others or the sales staff. You are better off staying at home.

7. Is the grudge you have against a family member that important to keep you apart? (if so I understand I have a few family members I can't associate with due to a long history of issues)

8. Keep your receipts, more and more stores are asking for receipts even on holiday merchandise, hint get a gift receipt, if you don't have a receipt many places will not return it or they may return it but give you the current selling price or a merchandise credit at the current selling price.

9. When you enter a store, and are looking at merchandise, try and return merchandise to where you found it. I am amazed at how lazy people are. Yes, and if you are a size 8 then don't ask the sales associate for a size 4.

10. Don't buy a pet as a present unless the person knows, there are so many animals taken to the pound each holiday due to someone wanted to buy a loved one a pet and come to find out they can't have it at their home, apartment or are not home enough to take care of it.

11. If you have a pet, if it is cold out bring them in, if you take them out make sure to clean their paws when they come in due to the salt or other chemicals can make them sick when they are doing self maintenance.

12. If you are thinking of shoplifting, don't!

13. When you walk into a store, don't stop at the entrance and decide where you are going to go, there are people behind you!

14. Think that fruit cake is a good present? NOT, besides you don't like receiving them and have 10 in the hall closet from last year.

These are just a few, please add more if you like.

An advertisement promoting a new perfume from rap mogul Sean "P. Diddy' Combs is apparently too hot for American TV viewers.

The AD promoting his new fragrance "Unforgivable Woman" stars Combs and model Jessica Gomez.

The spot uses erotic and suggestive content that shows Combs wooing and eventually winning a woman over.

TV executives say the ad is too erotic and demanded Combs change some of the shots to tone it down.

Combs refused and took the ad to the Internet, releasing it on his web page.

In a statement, Combs says he understands how some people may be uncomfortable with the sensuality and sexual content, but says quote, "I feel strongly that this needs to be viewed and judged by the public rather than by executives."

I would have posted the link to the video, but don't want to drive traffic to diddy's website.  I struggle with censorship.  I believe that there needs to be a cutoff point.  I don't choice to watch things like this due to they are trying to shock you and trust me I am not buy a product because a famous person creates it or endorses it.  Our society is very sexual to start with and there are to many broken homes and not enough parental guidance so we continue to show things that promote things that get our kids into more trouble ie pregnancy etc.  Again, if these so called rappers actually did something good for society rather than always trying to shock.  I don't even want to go into the fact that Diddy uses sweatshops to make his clothes or that he used dog hair on his furs.

Thoughts?

KTVI - (myFOXstl.com)  --  Ike Turner Day in St. Louis? Mayor Francis Slay is reportedly ready to proclaim it. But some people are urging the mayor to think twice because of turner's well-documented and admitted history of drug and spousal abuse. Ike Turner already got a star on the walk of fame in University City. He is by all accounts a music legend, but the problem is he is famous for more than just his music.

Yeah this is definitely something we should do  NOT!  This man is a has been, he was a druggy and abused Tina.  He needs to realize he was nothing until Tina came along and is still nothing.  I love the part in the movie where he comes back begging Tina to help him, sounds like he just does not get it.  IKE TURNER day please, let us glorify the drug dealers and wife beaters to while we are at it.  Slay will honor this too,   Time for Slay to get out of office too!

Anyone ever done a random act of kindness and the party you did it for did not know it?

Yesterday I was down in the West End and I parked at a meter and there was Mr. Meter man writing out tickets.  The car behind me I happened to check and they had ran out of time.  Mr. Meter was finishing up the ticket he was writing and I walked up to the expired meter of the car behind me and fed it another quarter another 30 minutes (it was close to 5 so I know he would not be back down to check it after 5) and place a nickel in mine due to I was only running for something.  Of course as I came out I saw him looking at both meters.  Saved that person $20, they did not even know it.

So anyone else done anything random?
